Woohoo. I was finally able to make progress. Someone had posted a number earlier in the thread to the BW. I asked to be transferred to the bakery and the person who answered the phone took my order. Yes, I have to pick it up, but considering I was originally told I was going to be charged $75 for a pick up the first time, I was very excited that is not the case.

It's pretty sad that it seems a lot of CMs don't really know what they are talking about when it comes to the cakes. I certainly didn't understand why the actual bakery would not be willing to let me pick up the cake. I do understand GF because it's not a shop, but the BW is a storefront.

Anyway, the long and short of it is I ordered a 10" marble cake with white chocolate mousse and white buttercream icing. It's going to have a cinderella slipper with either truffles (if they will fit in the shoe) or mousse. They're also going to put 4 tuxedo strawberries on the cake. I think my "princess" will really like it.

:thumbsup2 :cool1: :cheer2:

Okay... I need help. I have never ordered a cake before and want something extra special for our x-mas trip. The trip is sort of a good job trip for me for finishing my Master's degree (I start a killer internship and continue working full-time next semester for 15 weeks and won't get to see my family much... have to do it though...). I was in-between a slipper dessert at CRT lunch one day or having a Christmas cake somewhere. Any advice? It will be my, DH, and 1 3 year old boy (who loves icing).

We are eating at:
Biergarten - Concourse - CRT - LeCellier - San Angel Inn - Artist Point - Coral Reef - Crystal Palace (we are doing a spilt stay between CSR and WL).

We are planning to be at disney for my sons 10th birthday and daughters 14th, I am looking at all the yummy cakes here..

CONGRATULATIONS on completing your master's. It's a lot of work. I still have a little over a year to go and am drained already.

Would you have a cake delivered to dinner at CP or lunch at CRT? We are eating at CP the first night we arrive and CRT at the end (we are driving so we could take it home) or we could munch all week on a christmas themed one.... ??!?!??!?

Hi,

Is the Castle cake available for CRT Dinner?? Can I ask how much that was? The slipper dessert is $12.99, correct?Just trying to choose. :goodvibes

It's my understanding that the castle cake is only available at the GF. I paid $25 for it.

Well I ordered my cake last week from the Grand Floridian Bakery. We are getting the $25 8inch cake, vanilla cake with butter cream icing with a birthday message to my Mum. the middle of the cake has a layer of custard, as well as a layer of fresh strawberries.

The photos and descriptions in this thread helped a lot! thanks!

i ordered my birthday cake and had it delivered to my room in the GF 2 weeks ago. it was so beautiful i didn't want to eat it. also they decorated the room with baloons and banners and stuff, we requested this and just gave them the stuff and they did a great job! :thumbsup2

An Apology to all....I have had a really busy fall and haven't kept up the pics. I just copied all cake pictures that haven't been displayed on the first two pages.

Glad everyone has found this thread useful.

No need to apologize! We appreciate all you've done! :thumbsup2

I meant to come back and add this one earlier, but I forgot. This is a photo of what our cake (the "Happy Birthday Emilee" cake) looked like inside. It was filled with custard and fresh strawberries...

This is a 10" cake, exclusive of any additional decoration, I ordered for my DIL's birthday. Whipped cream, vanilla cake, and choc mousse filling.

Yummy!

Is there anywhere online with a list of cake options like filling, frosting, etc or do you just have to decide when you call? Thanks!

It seems that the different kitchens have given different options. I have yet to have a complete list of what the different kitchens have to offer.

OK sorry I could not read all the posts- I have dial up so this is just easier. Can I have a cake delivered to the room? We are staying at POP and I would like to come back to a cake in the room for my DH. Can that be done or do I have to do it in a resturant? Thanks in advance!

Thank you soooo much for this thread! I can't thank you all enough!
After seeing the great designs and pictures I decided to order a cake for my DF's birthday. I called the number at the Poly and the lady at room service was very rude and unhelpful- the first time I called she said they only did one size cake and I had to order it at the check-in stand. The second time I called (I was a bit frustrated, but remained nice) she put me on hold and told me if I wanted a plastic character it would be $30 extra! However, I politely told her I had heard that there were multiple styles, sizes available. Aggrevated with my persistance, she transferred my call to the bakery (which I guess she wasn't suppose to do). However, that led to more problems and when they didn't have prices for me they said they would call me back! No call back for over a day! :sad2:
So, I called the Poly main line and asked to speak to the front desk manager after being transferred and disconnected a few times! He was a great help and was surprised I knew my stuff so well!
The moral of the story: Disboard members are great! :disrocks:

I can't believe you had so many problems! :sad2: They really need to be more Disney-like and atleast be polite.

I had the same problem trying to book my CRT ADR's. I had one CM tell me that I had to pay the full amount at the time of booking even if I had a package plan. That didn't sound right to me so I called back a few days later and I got a booking and they took my bank card # as security, but didn't charge it. They said they would just put a note on the ressie that we would have the Premium Plan when we got there. I was so relieved! :teeth:
