My hubby is a heavy smoker despite 2 heartattack scares and i was wondering is he allowed to smoke on the veranda of our suite or just in the bars? Thanks. I wish it was not at all but he wouldn't even come with us then . He has tried to quit several times but can't seem to do it. well anyway thanks for any info.

He can smoke on your verandah, plus on the open decks on one side of the ship (I always forget which) on decks 10, 9, and 4. However, there is no smoking anywhere around the Mickey pool. He can smoke in most of the lounges, but not in Rockin' Bar D/Wavebands.

Cove Cafe is another place we found smokers. We would all just ask him and other smokers to be considerate of the "neighbors" on the next verandah who are trying to enjoy their cruise as well. Probably do not even need to remind you (OP) of this as you sound like a considerate person anyway. Have a fun cruise. :goodvibes

Cove Cafe does not allow smoking inside. You can smoke in the outside seating area because it is on the "smoking" side of the ship.

My Husband and I are both smokers. Last year we had a Category 8 (Oceanview) so we had to find alternate smoking spots. The best one,IMO, is to take the forward elevators to deck 4 and go out the port side doors. There was hardly ever anyone there, very peaceful, and the view is great! This year we have a veranda which is great. We are both first thing in the morning and last thing at night smokers so having the veranda will be very nice. Have a great trip!

and there wasn't a problem with smoking. We smoked on our veranda, on the open decks and cove cafe area. Infact we smoked on both sides of the boat with crew members passing and nothing was said. We tried to stay off to ourself and it worked out great. We even took an ashtray back to our veranda. Matches can be found in the bars, cove cafe. You can smoke on the deck overlooking Micky's pool. The folks on each side of our veranda smoked so there was no complaints.

For any new cruisers reading this, there is an ashtray on each verandah, it's built-in on the divider wall. Granted, it isn't terribly convenient for sitting down and smoking, but it is there.

We used that one, but it is hard to walk by the person/table sitting on that side. We took it back because of space.

I posted this on another thread but it mught work better here.

I have a question for those of you who smoke on your veranda;

If you were politely asked to put out your cigarette would you do it? I am an asthmatic who paid extra for the category 4 cabin because I enjoy sitting outside and ready on the veranda and I love watching the sights outside. The problem is when someone is smoking on the level below or next to you and the smoke is more n your veranda than theirs.

We had this last year and I did not know what to do, if you are on the "non-smoking" side of the ship do you think the CM's would do something if it was out of control and the person was always smoking? I believe everyone has the right to poison their lungs if they want to, just as I have the right and medical necessity to avoid it, but they also need to be considerate of those they may be smoking near. I have no problem with smoking in bars or on deck as long as the crowds are such that you don't chance burning someone, my daughter's costume had a hole burnt in it one year by a cigarette at MNSSHP.

If everyone is polite than all will be good

JDKDORN, I'm with you. I hope all you smokers who Chose to pollute your lungs dont force us to do the same. So PLEASE remember that when someone ask you to refrane while They enjoy thier Veranda. Thank you

I think the OP and all the other smokers posting here sound like very reasonable, nice people. As an ex-smoker, I can say that the one thing I REALLY MISS is the nice, friendly, considerate people I met in the smoking section.

I would very nicely let you know that I will be done in a few minutes because I too paid extra for my Cabin so that I too could enjoy the sites, read on the veranda, and have a smoke....

But I also would attempt to smoke less if someone nicely asked me to do so, and still repected my right to be there to grab a quick smoke.

Nicely put. (from a non-smoker)

That ashtry can easily be taken off the wall and placed on your table. We found this out on our last cruise. We realized it's how they empty them.

Ours was bent up bad the lid wouldn't stay on straight and it rained several times and filled with water.

You might take several smaller ashtrays to wipe out and bring inside.

There is no non-smoking side of the ship as far as verandahs are concerned. I believe the starboard side of the open decks is non-smoking, and I would hope that a CM would agree to help you if someone is smoking where they shouldn't be.

As a smoker, I consider myself to be very conscientious of non-smokers and will gladly put out a cigarette if politely asked. If I am near a group of people, even on the smoking side of the ship, I will usually ask if it's ok with them if I smoke. I try to pay attention to those with verandahs near mine, and try to smoke when they are not outside. Granted, not everyone is like that, but I would hope that most smokers these days, would agree to work out something about the verandahs, if asked politely.

i love that answer.

I am a non smoker, but it seems you americans like to be wrapped up in cotton wool.

In the UK we have jsut had a smokin ban which seems to be going down OK, but try some other Europeon countries or even some of the carribbean islands.

In these places, smoking is enjoyed by the majority.

Still, I guess you can kill yourselves in other ways - over eating maybe :upsidedow
