What simple foods can't you cook?

For me its boiled eggs and fried potatoes. For the life of me I can't seem to make either one of those simple things very well.

What about you?
 
If I can't wrap it in foil and stick it in the oven, I am in trouble. I am not a good cook.

If you're boiling the eggs, that the mistake...Next time try putting the eggs in cold water, heat to just boiling, turn off the pan and put a lid on it..Let it sit for about 20 minutes..

For me it's pie crust....I just buy them
 
Steak. It doesn't help that we like it on the well side though.
 
I can not bake chicken to save my life.

I don't know if it's me or my oven, but I could have totally thawed chicken breast and an oven turned up to 500 degrees, and it still takes over three hours for the chicken to cook through.

baked items..such as pies and cookies. I can make cupcakes.
meatloaf, however, not together with the pies & cookies.
 
Rice I can not cook on the stove top to save my soul. Oddly I can cook it in the microwave and not instant rice but regular rice.

Eggs? Egg cooker is the way to go!
 
Whipped cream. I cannot get the consistency just right, ever, and I have given up. Same goes for meringue, forget it.
 
Mashed potatoes....I just can't ever seem to get them just right. :sad2:
 
Eggs over easy. I don't really care for them that way so I never really learned to cook them. DH has to make them for himself and dd. I like the yolk hard cooked so I always get the one that breaks. ;)

I'm right there with you on the pie crust, Jenny. I just buy 'em, too.:thumbsup2 So much less frustrating.
 
I have issues with biscuits and gravy. Not a good thing for a Southern girl. The upside is that these things are very unhealthy so I don't need to eat them anyway.
 
As hard as I try, my fried chicken never comes out the way my mom's did. I think it is the way they've changed the oils and shortenings available to be healthier.
