I just saw this on another board and was going to do a search to find out where to order one. THANKS for the post!

*******

We've been in country for nearly 30 days now! (Hectic, hectic, hectic! Mostly for additonal duties! Praising God I'm not swamped in my official capacity!))

Today is a "day off", but I'm tethered to a pager and the sound of the phone ringing in my room is an un-welcome sound.

I really appreciated getting the PM with the St Patrick's Day signature icons! (Thanks DisneyMomOK....hope I spelled your name correctly) The Irish invited me over to their camp to view their St. Patricks Day Parade next week. They sent an awesome hand crafted invitation with hand caligraphy. It is going to be framed and will hang on my wall.:thumbsup2
Speaking of office decorations....my spouse is mailing my Stetson and it should arrive within the week. It's my way of "flipping the bird" to a few people. :lmao: Nuff said as this is a public forum.

Time to get back to my homework. Trying to learn a new language in 8 weeks.

you absolutely amaze me. thanks for what you're doing and watch your back!!!

A concrete - it's frozen custard that has various flavorings mixed in. Kinda like blizzard except denser and creamier....it is a good thing I don't live close to any place that sells these little darlings....

Unfortunately, we have 2-3 places in Jonesboro, and one that's only 5-6 miles from my house.

He's asking AIG execs very nicely not to award themselves $millions in bonuses paid by you and me.

Who cares, people get paid all the time by tax payers dollars who may or may not deserve it ;)

See, the TARP bailouts were a bad idea, if they went into bankruptcy the "contractual obligations" could have been taken care of in court. Of course if they just sold this as principal on a mortgage they could just wait until a judge has the authority to change it...

and the truth is, bonuses are supposed to be tied to performance. with aig in the pit, not a single executive could possibly have earned a bonus.
Are they dangerous?

Are you kidding me, when the Hillary supporters left the liberal thread because the Os were so nasty...we thought the same thing that they would be nicer once he won the primaries...they got worse and they were the worse sore winners that I have ever encountered.

Than some of the HS left when he was running in the election and they joined them. But for the most part have not outside the liberal thread have not hit the OS level. I can still have a healthy debate with them. But the true OS from the beginning are still just as red....to much red kool aid I'm guessing.

My first take on them was when I was coming in here from the beginning and getting the Conservative point of view. I started getting hate PM's form the liberals calling me a traitor:rotfl2:

Good grief....I was treated better in here than from the OS in the Liberal thread as a Hillary supporter:lmao:
No, no. The cons are the mean spirited and closed minded ones.

i hafta tell ya...every time i see you post, because of your timon avatar, i first think it is that other person from another thread who seems to be following me around trying to stir things up. it's always such a relief to see it is you!

i had a lot of trouble with this during the election. to me, it depends what sort of health insurance they're talking about. most people who receive health insurance benefits through their employer are paying for some of it...the cost is subsidized by the employer.

so which part would be taxed? ONLY the amount subsidized by the employer? that might make sense (IF necessary), but it definitely takes away the "benefit" of the lower cost to obtain health insurance through an employer.

would it only be on the platinum-level plans or on all plans. for people with lower salaries, it makes sense that they may choose a bronze-level plan, while executives can afford the platinum level. which ones would be taxed and at what percent of the subsidy?

during the election nobody really discussed the hows and wherefors of this "tax the health insurance" spiel, so it is difficult to know what is really meant.

i have worked as a consultant for more than ten years now, so i pay for 100%of my health insurance. despite minimal visits to the doc (max. two per year) and no prescriptions, my premium skyrocketed. i recently had to downgrade the level of insurance to make the cost manageable.
the whole health insurance racket is out of control.

Funny thing happened at Mass today...

I was sitting in the aisle seat and turned to face the processional, when I looked up across the aisle at Newt Gingrich! He was sitting directly across from me. I must disclaim that it was him and not I sitting on the left side of the aisle. Hopefully next time, he will join me on the right side!

Afterwards, I had the opportunity of meeting him. He was very pleasant and approachable.

Very cool :thumbsup2

We pay 100% also. Through Kaiser an HMO...we pay $1100 a month. Plus Dr. Co pays of $25.00 and RX co pays. I have Epilepsy ...only use Brand names on meds so they cost more. Ins is high enough as it is. That is why many said they wanted UHC so they would not have such high premiums, or be able to afford it at all.

so gee lets just tax and make it higher anyone. Hell lets just tax everything :woohoo: we can add a new tax every week slowly...maybe the American public wont notice.

And ya know what is sad is most unless like us paying attention have no idea what is really going on. I have friends that voted for Obama and it ended there. They pay no attention to the news or what is changing....or what is coming. Except that the economy sucks.

yeah, for just me it was about half that for a ppo through blue shield of california, and i don't have anything i need to see a doctor for regularly and i don't have any prescriptions i need to take regularly. it was a pretty penny to pay as a bet that i wouldn't get sick or injured.

(for those who don't know, blue shield and blue cross are NOT the same company nor are they related other than to have formed alliances in certain states and because some offices have a contract to process the other company's claims through their system [the visalia, ca office referred to as "foundation' as a for instance], AND blue shield of california is a completely separate entity from other blue shields [yes...i was on contract there and that's how i know]). sorry, but now that i'm being followed by two people from the lib thread, i feel the need to provide all details rather than deal with their unfounded contradictions.

This just puts a glitch in my giddy up  to say that these bonuses were arranged in 2008 when the company was in good standing so they cant get out of just irks me to know end. :headache:

this company was working bad contracts for years covering bad debt after debt. The way I see it is that we need AIG and to loose it would be troublesome...and they know it so they will do what they have to to get there greedy hands on there bonuses.

This deserves it's own thread...shall you or I start it popcorn::

I use to have both those and they got so high for all there policys that we dropped them. We are lucky enough to have Kaiser...am happy with there care. They believe in preventative care unlike BC and BS who will just about wait till you are dying before they throw you an aspirin

I have appts right know for a MRI, Abd Ultrasound, Gallbladder Ultrasound and Bone density test...also mammogram and MRI...just had a Colonoscopy and annual pap and Blood work. All with in the next 2 weeks...try getting that on UHC... I have never had a problem with getting tests that I need from them so the moneys we pay are high but they never hold back. When had BC and BS it was impossible and lots of hoops to jump through.

It is an HMO however not a PPO...but I still can pick my Dr's from whom they have. And I love the Peds...they are great!...

So you have Kaiser where you live? Kaiser use to have a bad name but they have really improved. As a Nurse if they had not I would never have switched to them.

we have tons of kaiser where i live. i have not yet reconciled myself with moving to kaiser insurance, however, after the incident with my parents' neighbor. (he went in for surgery, they never called his wife to say he was in recovery and how things went. so she called them. and they couldn't FIND him! :scared1: it took five hours of phone calls and threats of police and lawyers before they figured out he was on a gurney in the hallway, because they had run out of recovery "rooms" and hospital rooms.)

Oh my goodness! My 12 y.o. daughter just had a close encounter with a moose! :scared1:

She was outside on the deck petting the stray kitties we're feeding, and a moose came right up to the deck.

YIKES! Biggest thing that comes up on people's porches around here is raccoons. We do have bear (though most people don't know it because they stay away) and big deer, and elk higher up, but they tend to come into the far side of the yard at best. Glad she was okay. Did it scare the heck out of her?

Hi all! Typing to you live from my new iMac

This thing is HUGE. It's a 24" monitor!

:cool1: Not a Mac person, but a new computer is always cause for celebration.

That's my thought too- my mom was like, "Oh, he's cute" but I'm like "No, he's more of what I'd call handsome"- particularly in person. Ummm, no, he most certain does NOT sound like the minister in The Princess Bride. He has a rather sexy voice.

I am out of the loop on this issue. PM with pictures. Please and thank you. :thumbsup2

Hi guys!

Love the portrait Charade -- job well done for posting :thumbsup2

I so much prefer tea to the koolaid they are serving on the other side of the aisle. Have a good night all :)

Agreed on both points. I prefer Earl Grey, myself.

Ewwww I don't like pineapple or coconut.:crazy2: Gimme some of this stuff.

starbucksjavachip-1.jpg

Hmmm. Maybe. I like pineapple and coconut, but ice cream isn't worth it to me unless it is chocolate. Not really a Starbucks person either, but I love coffee...coffee chocolate ice cream might be alright.

I'm reminded of a Robert Palmer video when I look at this.

For all the young whipper snappers who don't know who Robert Palmer is :rolleyes1

Great pics Swedish Meatball :lmao: & Charade :thumbsup2

:lmao: Okay that made me laugh. But I'll disagree with the comparison only because I hated that video and always referred to him/it as "Robert Palmer and his Rat Women."

I just saw this on another board and was going to do a search to find out where to order one. THANKS for the post!

Time to get back to my homework. Trying to learn a new language in 8 weeks.

Hey! It's really good to see you! Need some Girl Scout cookies over there? We just sent two cases over last week to the unit my husband is with, but I have a few boxes up for grabs if you wanna PM me. A little taste of home if you haven't had any this year. Not for sale, just a gift if you would like a box. :)

Hey, woman. Can you believe it snowed this morning?!
I went to Albertons the day before yesterday and there were girl scouts selling cookies. I didn't buy any but I did donate money. :thumbsup2

Ah, no. I was NOT amused when I looked out my bedroom window this morning and saw solid white. I have about three inches here still. It has been steadily melting all day, because it's been above freezing since I got up, but it keeps falling periodically too.
