A Planning Guide to Goofy's Great Birthday Bash!

Jay,

What a perfect surprise! Another Disney night, the amazing Halloween party, and a chance to stay at one of your favorite resorts too!!

I love your scavenger hunts. Being able to do something like that is the reason that I want to join DVC and be able to vacation in a more leisurely way. We always are so commando on our vacations.

This is fantastic Jay!! I'm surprised and excited and it's not even for me  Is the CM at the end of the scavenger hunt going to tell him about MNSSHP?? So fun!

The Mom's Panel is my idea of the world's coolest gig! CONGRATS AGAIN, Jo! Enjoy the rest of your time helping others plan great Disney vacations! :wizard:

Jay you are the sweetest and you would be fantastic on the Moms Panel, applications start September 10th see www.disneyworldmoms.com/2010 for info. Also if you ever get locked out again let me know and I'll see if I can get you some help :thumbsup2 Oh and if we're there at the same time we'll definitely have to meet :goodvibes

The trip sounds awesome and wow on the Poly, what a fantastic surprise :yay:

So many of my friends wonder why I read the DisBoards.... your PTR's and TR's are one of my reasons! I love all of the thought that you put into each trip, the surprises, the fun... it's just exciting to hear about someone's trip!
I love the Poly scavenger hunt! I think Goofy is going to be blown away with all of the excitement!! Can't wait for the TR!
So now I am thinking that Aladdin is going to be very suspicious of you when it is his turn! ;)

Oh my!!!! Jay I think you've outdone yourself! This is going to be the best birthday celebration!!!! The scavanger hunt is really a great idea!! :thumbsup2Can't wait to hear his reaction to it all!!!

I was totally bummed when I read you were checking out of BWI. I know that feeling too well. You absolutely suprised ME TOO with the Poly! Yeah!!! I love the Poly so just thinking about it makes me smile. Aloha! And Goofy will definitely say Mahalo!

You just go on and on, don't you. I get more amazed with every update. Totally wonderful. I would say Goofy is going to just keep wondering "what comes next". Super duper good. Ginny
:) I am having so much fun planning this one out...and I have to admit...I have been holding out a little on my wonderful DISer planning friends. I will remedy that in the next post. :rotfl2:

If you are as good in person as you are on here, Goofy will totally be fooled, 'cause I seriously thought you were checking out too!

How awesome that he is surprised with an extra night. That's something I'D like to be surprised with!

Can't wait to hear what's in store for him at MNSSHP!
I would like to be surprised, period. I love surprising people but dh doesn't share that interest. And like I said, I am being a bit teasing here. I will let you all in on my super secret ASAP. :thumbsup2

I hope those scavenger hunts are put to good use by someone else too. I love the idea of of other kids (and/or kids at heart) getting to go on their own scavenger hunt adventure.

Hee hee hee...my next post will share the completion of his Poly scavenger hunt.:woohoo:

I am going to check that out (the link). I think I might just have to sign up for a new user name totally and go from there. My access on the Disney Moms site never worked properly. I don't want to miss out on next years too! Or I could always dream of being a Disney mom. ;) I hope you still are enjoying every last minute of it!

Jay, the plans sound so amazing...

Which MNSSHP are you going to? We are going on the 22nd...
See the next post and thanks! ;)

The Culmination of Well Laid Plans...

Or at least plans I hope are well laid. :rotfl2: Upon completing his photo scavenger hunt he will receive one last clue from the club CM. Along with the clue, the CM will hand him a set of sand toys (once again, the IPO is doing some shopping with my credit card before we arrive). His last clue will direct him to head out to the beach to make use of his new toys. In the event of rain, I have a back up clue printed out that will take him back to our room instead.

Hopefully it will be clear because I am really looking forward to digging my toes down into the sand and helping my little Goof build a castle. The best part of this moment? While Goofy and I am busy building a castle he is sure to get an offer to help him. From who?

Well, his brothers and Dad of course! :yay::woohoo::yay: Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggity dog! :yay::woohoo::yay: YES!!! All of my plotting, planning, sneaky sneaking and tricky tricking will finally come together into one SUPER great moment for all of us!!

NOBODY except dh has ANY idea about this! :cool2: I have kept my big mouth shut! Not one boy suspects ANYTHING of this sort will be happening! :cheer2: Yay me! :cheer2:

Let me pause on our beach scene for a second and back up here and share a bit of my previous planning. When we fly out, we are flying out from a city about two hours away. I did this by design so that the boys would not just think we would be coming back in to our local airport (normally we just fly out of the airport that's about 30 minutes away) on our return flight. Instead, they will think it's no big deal when dh gets them up in the middle of the night (they will be told it's just early in the morning) and shuffles them from their beds to the van to 'drive to the airport'. While they sleep dh should be able to put a lot of mileage between home and WDW. Somewhere along the way they are going to realize they have long since passed up the point along the route where they should have gotten off of the freeway to go to the airport. At that point, dh will have the immense pleasure of springing the surprise on them. I do so wish I could be there to see and hear their reactions. It's going to be a wonderful moment!:woohoo: He said he will most likely ask them if they would like to pick us up at WDW instead the airport. My guess is the answer will be the 'right' one. ;)

I already have their suitcases packed and put back where we store our luggage so they won't have a clue that anything is going to happen! :) All dh has to do is pop it in the van after they go to sleep the night before.

Once they know where they are headed the boys should have about 6 to 7 hours ahead of them of drive time. Hopefully that time flies by for them since they will be so excited about their surprise. And I imagine that they will be very excited to hear that they are going to get to surprise Goofy on the beach. They will love being in on his surprise (even if they only know for a few hours before they get to surprise him).

Cut back to the beach...as we are digging in the sand, dh and the boys will approach from behind Goofy and ask him if they can help him build his castle. :thumbsup2

I cannot WAIT to see his face. I think he will either start screaming and laughing or go into shock!:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

I am hoping he forgives me for using MNSSHP as a 'red herring'. It was just the most plausible excuse I could come up with for us moving over to the Poly for 'only one night'. :littleangel: :rolleyes1:laughing: I had to lead him down the wrong path to be able to surprise him with this (my granddaddy of all surprises). :thumbsup2

So...no, we are not going to head to MNSSHP that night (they won't be having one). Instead, we have dinner reservations at Kona and another week's worth of Disney fun to have! I am hoping he will forgive me for the tricky stuff once he sees the outcome. Actually, I know he will. He LOVES his dad and brothers and I know he will be over the moon (and back again) to see them! It's going to be great! FOR ALL OF US! :grouphug: I cannot wait to have my whole family together again at my favorite place. It's gonna rock!:woohoo:

You sneak. That is so over the top. I was so close with my sneaky plan, wasn't I? We must think a lot alike. You absolutely take the cake. And it is so wonderful for you to get to be together and all leave together just as you really wanted. I'm afraid I have figured out some of your evil ways. I'm so glad I was right on this one.

I am just star-struck and speachless. :worship: :worship: :worship:

YOU ARE SO GOOD, GINNY! I laughed so hard that you were so specific so that I could say no to you without telling tales and still preserve the surprise. :rotfl: You hit the nail on the head for sure!

We really weren't planning on being at WDW as a family this year but our trip to Washington DC was put on hold because it was scheduled so shortly after we lost my dad. I just couldn't bear to try and throw myself into a vacation at that point. I needed time to deal with everything and start to heal before I was ready to hit the road. We were looking forward to DC in the spring though so we are going to save it for next spring and enjoy our family time at WDW this year instead. All of us had a hard time with losing him. So, we are looking forward to this special time to sort of recharge all of our batteries and to soak up the happiness that always permeates a WDW trip. :wizard:

Well, I've been sitting here waiting for you to post the "surprise" and I somehow missed when you did. I noticed Ginny posted, but figured it was in response to the first part.

I'M GLAD I CHECKED!!!!

I am completely speechless. I had NO idea (though I did like Ginny's idea when I read it). The funny thing for me is, you are coming in 4 or 5 days before we will be there. I couldn't find anywhere that you mentioned exact dates, but I tried to figure it out based on your ticker.

Then I figured I MUST be wrong because every time I did the math there was NO MNSSHP on the day you said you were going! At least I know I can still do math.

You

are

amazing!

Truly.

So do we now get another week's worth of PTR?

It was sure too funny.

I think this is the perfect plan and the perfect time for you and your family. You know your dad would want you to have your family time.

Having lost my dad so many years ago I know exactly what you went through. He was my real hero and saviour. I don't know if you had read on my report that my mom and I don't do well. My dad was my protector and I felt like I lost the world when I lost him.

You will have such a grand time at the Poly. Soaking up Disney as it is supposed to be. With the people you love most in the world. I can't wait to see pictures. That dh of yours deserves big kudos for bringing 3 boys in a van alone for those hours. I'd be keeping him for sure.

You have made memories to last a lifetime. Good job mom. You have outdone yourself once more.

Ginny

My question is, how in the World (pun intended) is she going to top THAT is December with Aladdin?

I think you shocked us all!!! I was giving myself a headache trying to figure out your MNSSHP night cause by my calculations there wasn't one that night!!!

Your DH may want to invest in ear plugs for when he lets the boys in on the surprise... I think there will be a lot celebrating!!! :woohoo::yay::cool1:

I must say you have got some serious will power keeping all of these secrets... I am very jealous, I can't keep my mouth shut....

Hi Jay,
Great surprises, and I love the scavenger hunts! I knew what your big surprise was from the Poly thread, and I didn't dare comment before now. I am not nearly as good as you at keeping a secret!!! That is going to be the most amazing surprise for Goofy, to suddenly see his dad and brothers on the beach! And then to realize that he'll be in WDW for another whole week! It just doesn't get any better than that for a kid.
You guys really deserve a nice relaxing week on the beach, its been a tough year. But, please do me a favor, and don't wear out the concierge staff too much! (we arrive right after you have left :sad2:) Then again, after a week helping you and your lovely family, I'm sure they will all be in great moods for my family's visit.:goodvibes
Now, can I ask, how has the staff been about shopping for you? I've seen on some threads that the shopping service has been kind of hit/miss lately. I'm trying to think of a small surprise in the room for my family, but I'm not sure what yet. I don't want to go all out with the florist package, I was thinking along the lines of a beach towel and sand toys, but then I heard that the shopping service had stopped, so I never looked into it. I am curious to hear how your experience with them has been. Thanks!!

I am actually crying real tears here!!

That is the best surprise evah!!! I can't even begin to comment! (I too was going crazy trying to figure out your HP night...) What a great surprise for Goofy, but also what a gift for you!!

I know how it is to lose your Daddy and have your whole world go upside down. I lost mine when I was 27, and I think all the time about what he would think of his beautiful grandchildren. What a great chance for you to gather ALL your boys close and just enjoy them! I can't wait to hear about it!!!

(and kudos to you for being able to keep the surprise. I'm going crazy trying not to tell my best friend. Speaking of that, I'm taking her to DW in December for her 40th birthday. Any suggestions of ways I can surprise her?)

Hey there! I was turned on to your report by Ginny and Heather. Now I've gotta go back and read the entire thing.
