Does anyone know what the full price deposit is for the Cali-Canada Repo cruises. I figured it fell under the 6-8 night of $250 per person, but the except Alaska thing gave me pause. Also if anyone is willing I would love to see the price for a Cat 4 with 2adult and 3 children for the Cali to Canada Repo. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

Alaska cruises are $250 pp deposit.

The LA - Vancouver Repo deposit is going to be $600pp? In a cat. 11 this is almost the entire cost of the cruise :scared1: I want this repo, but that deposit would put me out. There is no way that I am going to basically pay off the trip off 19 months out. $250pp I can see, but $600 is insane.

NO, that is not correct! I booked the LA-Vancouver April 2011 cruise last Monday and the reduced deposit was only $250 for two people. The REGULAR deposit as of Monday will be the usual $250 per person, or $500 for a double occupancy cabin. These cruises do NOT have the ridiculous $600 per person deposit required for the Alaska and Panama Canal cruises.

Glad to hear it is only a $250 deposit :cool1: - I can part with that much. I just wish they still had the 50% offer. Oh well it's better than the Alaska and PC cruises we were considering.

ALASKA CRUISES:
Repo to Vancouver:
4/27 C00T #8590 2A $5787

Cruises out of Vancouver:
5/3 C00T #8590 2A $9868

Not sure who posted this, but confused. Is 8590 the stateroom #? 8590 is a Category 4B, not a suite/C00T? Thanks for the clarification.

I can only copy and paste what is posted but you are right. The 8590 is a C04B.

I'm trying to figure out my strategy for tomorrow morning. I must leave the house right at 8:00 to drive the kids to school. I might dial DCL right as I leave the house and just leave the phone off the hook since I'll be back home within 15 minutes. Anyone want to guess how long the hold will be??? I don't think I can handle the cell phone while driving - esp attempting to write down pricing, etc - would probably crash and kill us all!! We're transferring an OBC, so unfortunately I must call. I've decided that if the deposit is in fact $600, we won't book. Hoping all of this is not in vain . . .

I'm trying to figure out my strategy for tomorrow morning.

My strategy is to ask DH to take DD to school so I can be on the phone (and computer if it is available) right at 7 AM CST. If wait says it's already long, I'll drive to work keeping cell on hands free and hope I get through after I actually arrive at work so I can write things down. ;)

Otherwise, I have a break between meetings from 930-1030 then 12-2 (hope it doesn't come to this).

I was just checking out weather info - thought this might be helpful . . .

Avg high Avg low Avg rainfall (inches)
Skagway May 57 40 2.3
Skagway June 64 47 1.6
Skagway July 66 48 1.6
Skagway Aug 65 47 2.6
Skagway Sept 58 42 5.5

The data for Juneau is similar - slightly cooler - rainier in general; Ketchikan even cooler - very rainy.

Don't forget your phone charger!

You may also want to call in from work on your landline just in case your cell phone drops (if your work permits that).

Sorry but here are a couple things that you need to factor into your plan. You are not going to be able to dial DCL and get through to their holding queue first attempt at 8 am...or VERY few people do. On 9/21 I hit redial on both the home land line and the cell phone - each dialing a different DCL number - for 40 minutes before I stopped getting a busy signal.

Also, if you are not going to book if the deposit for OBBs is full price, take the kids to schol and then check the 9/28/09 booking thread first post to see if anyone has posted what they were able to do. IMO waiting 15 minutes to dial is not going to change your wait time THAT dramatically. You are looking at 2-3 hours at the least. Also, plug your cell in and once you get through on one line after 30-45 minutes call on your open line and get on hold too. It happens every single time new bookings opened and it will happen 9/28 too. On 1/31/07, 10/14/08 & 9/21/09 people were on hold for 1 - 1 1/2 hours and then were disconnected. If you have a second line available to you I would call in and be on hold there as well to prevent you from having to call back and starting to hold all over.

Also, you don't say how old your kids are. Are they old enough to handle speed dialing your cell while you drive to work? I entered all of the DCL numbers I had in both of the phones and set them as speed dials on my cell. If/when they are able to get through on the way to school just leave the phone on speaker. Chances are very good that your call will not be answered by a live person before you get home.

In 2007 I had a friend come and pick up the kids because we could not drop them off at school before 8 am and I was determined to be on the phone and book the EB PC. Oh what we do for DCL! :lmao:

Is that the amount in inches per month? If so that is nothing! We get more than that in one storm...except for the September number anyway. ;) I am looking forward to a vacation where I do not have to worry about packing tons of sunscreen and dealing with sun exposure every day. :thumbsup2

I didn't see this posted elsewhere so I thought I'd post:

Yes - per month. Skagway has the least amount of rain. Ketchikan seems to be the rainiest port - with 9.9 inches of rain in August.
