Sleeping dilema

We're staying at CSR 4/13-4/20. It is our first trip ever to disney and can't wait! However, it will be myself, husband, son (17), and daughter (8). I can sleep with my daughter, but my son is not thrilled with the idea of sleeping with his stepfather and said he'd sleep on the floor. : (

I understand my sons point and respect his feelings but I don't want him to sleep on the floor! We have a waterview room w/ two beds. Any suggestions? Would there even be room for him to sleep on the floor? Help!

hmm.. i totally see both points. Your son not wanted to sleep w/ his stepfather at 17, and your viewpoint is probably just wanting to have a nice family vaca. Could he sleep with his lil sis? That might be weird for him.
You could try to ask if you can rent a cot or something similar for him.. or bring an inflatable mattress.. they aren't too bulky and would prob be perfect for him. Hope you have a wonderful, stress free vacation!!!!!:goodvibes

In another thread, I just read that rollaway beds are available for rent at CSR and can be reserved in advance. Can't remember what thread (hey, it's 5 AM and I slept for a whole two hours!) but call and ask.

Alternatively, bring your own inflatable bed. Get one with a motor (self-inflating); it should fit in a suitcase, and yes, there will be room for it. You may need to rearrange some furniture, but there's room on the floor - stick with a twin, just in case.

We brought a twin air bed when we stayed at Saratoga a couple of weeks ago. We just stood it up during the day and it was out of the way. It fit fine in my suitcase....My mom brought a bottom and top sheet and requested extra blankets and pillows.

We have a great little Disney Princess air mattress. Is is the size of a jr. bed. My DD7 can sleep on it fine. It has a motor built in. I am sure we found it at Walmart. You could try that for your Daughter.

Have the kids sleep together, or pay extra for a cot to be brought in.

Pretty much the only solution I can see. Personally I would stay offsite and rented a townhouse so everyone could have their own room. I don't blame your son for not wanting to sleep in the same bad as his step father...that's a little weird.

The poster said DS is 17, DD is 8. I wouldn't have them sleep in the same bed. Just me.

We do the same thing every year we go. Our kids are small but they NEED there own space. They move so much as night that it drives another person crazy (even me and DH hate to share a bed with them).

We sleep in one bed, daughter sleeps in another, and sons each have a blow up mattress (pretty comfortable) to themselves. We alsso stand them up during the day.

Another option - get a famly suite at a different resort. I am sure you and your son will appreciate the space.

Buy a decent aero bed...I got a good twin size one for about $75. It inflates itself and deflates really quickly. Then you can bring a sheet or two...ds can sleep there. My dd, 16 and 5'9" tall sleeps on ours and loves it!!!
I wouldn't put the two kid together, not at those ages. But the aero bed can be stood up, against a wall during the daytime, giving you more room to move around.

you can have DS sleep on top of the covers and have DD sleep under the covers. Just bring an extra blanket for him or something.

DD is young enough for them to sleep together. They should be ok in the queen size beds.

Are they queen beds? I thought you had to go to deluxe to get two queen beds.

And yes DS and DD sleeping together would be a little weirder than the DS and the step father.

Another option is port orleans riverside, where they can accommodate a family of 5 with the trundle. Put your daughter on the trundle and your son can have his own bed.

Wow....so many people think siblings in the same bed is that strange?? :confused3

I'm sorry if they were mine the siblings would sleep in the same bed and there would be nothing "weird" about it.

Your son is 17. That's plenty old enough for him to know how he wants to sleep. I don't think it's unreasonable at all for a boy (almost man) that age to not want to sleep with his 8 year old sister or his stepfather. The solution is very simple and it's called an air mattress. You don't even have to get a fancy one since your son is old enough to blow the thing up himself. During the day, just put it (still inflated) up against a wall in the room. Housekeeping isn't going to freak out as it's been done many times before. You aren't doing anything illegal in Disney 's eyes since you met the room capacity limits.

Just remember to take a sheet and maybe a blanket for him. He'll be fine. Remember that teenage boys do not like to sleep with any other males. And it probably doesn't sit well with him to sleep with his 8 year old sister. The point is - he's 17 and his feelings need to be considered.

The beds are doubles NOT queens. You're right. I'd look into the idea of an air mattress for either your son or daughter. I have a 17 year old son and I understand his uncomfortableness with the sleeping arrangements.

I was going to suggest switching to POR - and get the rooms for 5 with the trundle bed but someone beat me to it. If you are going with the air mattress idea - I would likely put the 8 yo on the air mattress and let the 17 yo have a bed to himself. I think the bigger you are - the harder to sleep comfortably on an air mattress. DD8 will be worn out from the parks, sun, etc... and will probably fall asleep the minute her head hits the pillow (at least that's how my kids would be). DS17 will probably sleep better in a bed where he can stretch out.

Over the last year or two, beds at CSR were converted from doubles to queens. We stayed there last March and had queen beds in our room.
