We have never been on the Disney Cruise but are hoping to go in February 2012. Does anyone know when that schedule will come out?

Also, any rumors of what ships will be cruising out of Florida in Feb. 2012?

Consensus is that bookings will probably open up for 2012 this fall sometime based on past history.

The two new ships have contracts with Port Canaveral for a few years so they will both definitely be sailing out of PC but which one is doing the 3/4 runs and which is going to do the 7 nights has still not been confirmed. The Magic and Wonder may be there part of the time but will also be in other areas.

Chances are that the Fantasy will not be sailing that early in 2012. So most likely the ships sailing from PC will be the Dream (doing the 3/4 night Bahamas sailings) and the Magic (doing some Caribbean itinerary, most likely the standard 7 night eastern/western routes at that time of year).

Correct....I failed to say in my earlier post that while booking may open up later this year, sailings most likely won't be until later in 2012.

Thanks.

Maybe when the Fantasy is in the water we could see some cruises out of the NY/Bayonne area? Anyone think that could be likely?

Ya never know, Send DCL an email and tell them you want to see one of the ships go north on the east coast.

I don't think it's likely at all. Where would they go? Not anywhere on the Eastern Seaboard. Its actually illegal for non-US flagged vessals to sail to US ports of call from US ports of call. Thats why the Wonder has to sail from Vancouver vice Seattle (which I would prefer). That particular law has been around since the 19th century so I doubt it's changing anytime soon.

Apparently you are not familiar with NYC and cruising......at one time it was one of the busiest cruise ports around. Currently, Canada/New England, Bermuda and Caribbean cruises all sail from NYC almost year round (except winter) on 7 day cruises....transatlantics also sail from NYC. We are doing a 7 day to Bermuda next Sunday out of NYC on the NCL Dawn. During the summer months NY/NJ area has ships that leave from Manhattan, Bayonne, NJ and Red Hook in Brooklyn with several ships in at a time.

Even as just a photo op....they should definitely bring one of the ships into NYC to get people excited....the ship would stop traffic on the West Side Highway with rubbernecking!! Heck, they make several of the DCL announcements from NYC...why not bring one of the ships here for a visit!!!
We live only 25 minutes from the NYC passenger ship terminal so for us it would be a treat to have a DCL ship in NY!

Actually, the Jones act says a foriegn flagged ship, which all except on NCL in HI, must sail to at least one foriegn port when sailing from a US port. Which is why so many 3 and 4 night ships go to the Bahamas from FL and why they go to Ensenada MX from LA, Ships sail from Charleston, SC, Baltimore, MD, NYC, Philly, and Boston to Bermuda and Canada. My MIL boarded an RCCL ship in Baltimore, stopped at Martha's Vineyard and Bar Harbor Maine before going to Canada. So it is possible that DCL will look into other Eastern Seaboard ports once the Fantasy is at home in FL.

I think if they are looking to make the Magic their world ambassador, sailing from the NY/NJ area is a good possibility. If they are looking for a way to get people excited about sailing on the older ships once the Fantasy is in service, moving it to a large metro area like NY is a great way to open it up to a lot of people who wouldn't have to fly to catch a cruise. I know we would be on board for any itinerary from NY/NJ (but we prefer Bayonne to the Manhattan terminal). I think that would be less risky than going to Europe for the 3rd summer in a row.

But isn't the rumor also that DCL Magic will be permanently docked in Europe after the Fantasy comes over?? So that DCL will no longer be offering Panama canal and transatlantic cruises... ?

But of course European cruises are really only a summer option with maybe Canary Isles etc at either end of the main summer season - I could definitely see 2012 with a NEW European itinerary (my choice would be Eastern Med \ Adriatic area with Greece, Venice, Croatia etc...) followed by an Autumn season cruising New England and Canada maybe out of NYC, I think that would be fab - everyone raves about New England in the fall! Then back down to do some special Carribean itineraries in the winter, maybe the longer 10 nighters as the Dream and Fantasy would be doing the 3,4 & 7 nighters.

i have said before that I would think that this talk of an ambassador role for the Magic is partly true, they want to get her out and about and seen in newer markets but also there must be some element that the older ships have to attract new DCL clients by moving around but they are also need to have new fresh exciting itineraries or everyone will just opt to book the Dream and Fantasy as they have the pull of being the newest ships.

You only have to look at the number of posts here on a DCL board about people who are booking the Oasis to try the ship out, they don't care about the itineraries, yet they book the older RCCL ships because of where they are going not just for the ship which has been surpassed by newer, fancier versions.

Just my two cents worth

Boy would I love to see DCL here in NYC! Even just a couple of times, "Mickey takes Manhattan"......:cheer2:

You, as I can tell from your post, have never been on the Western on DCL. First stop, Key West FL U.S.A.

We would love to see the Magic sail out of NYC in 2012. The itinerary wouldn't be the draw for us. What would get us back on that ship is the fact we wouldn't have to fly to get on it. The Magic could do 'a cruise to nowhere' in the North Atlantic and we would be on it simply because it sailed out of NYC.

Agreed!!! The Magic's role as an ambassador would so fit with a visit to NYC!! With the huge Disney presence in NYC already with all the Disney Broadway shows and all the announcements made in NYC and a corporate office here, it just seems like a perfect fit for the Magic.

I was just on the EBTA, and my head server told me that the Magic is contracted for 2011 and 2012 to do the Med. H'e'd done these ports enough that he was trying to transfer off to the Wonder for Alaska and Mexico.

That's interesting news! Then maybe the Dream will take over the Caribbean and the Fantasy will do the Bahamas!

I know from experience that Holland America (ships registry the Netherlands) sails out of NYC with stops in Newport, Boston, Bar Harbor, THEN into Canada... they also have cruises originating in Ft. Lauderdale, so I think you may be mistaken.
