May Med Magic - May 15 2010 - Meet thread - Part 2

Did you book your airfare with Disney? If you did, then it's up to them to work it out. I'd be giving them a call to see what their contingency plan is!

Sayhello

I did book through Disney, I think I'll take your advice and give them an early call.

Some good news on airspace.

UK flights to Barcelona have been flying today - most seem to have been up to an hour late but have been running.

Fingers crossed it keeps improving

Another is setting up a proxy, so you connect to the proxy and the proxy connects to blogspot. That'll fool most blocks. We had to do that for one of our banks so we could access it while traveling, as it wouldn't allow connections outside of the USA.

Set up the proxy and tried logging in to my blogspot dashboard and it gives me an error "Method Not Allowed". :sad1:

Have just checked the EasyJet website and they have cancelled loads of flights to Barcelona....am starting to panic now. DH is already thinking of driving down there instead!! Going to have to play it day by day i think

That's very strange - BA and Iberia have flown all of their flights to and from Barcelona today (at most 1 hour late). Ryanair cancelled one from around lunchtime but one about an hour ago left on time. (edit - i've only looked at from UK to Barcelona)

Easyjet may just be suffering a backlog from yesterday and will be back to normal tomorrow.

Fingers crossed for all of us.

For those obsessing about the volcano (like me!), here's a link to follow European airport closures and delays that Steven3367 posted on another thread. Thanks Steven! Airport closure map
Ah, shoot! It's the old map. I've been looking all over for an up-to-date map! :confused3

I just received this email that I thought others might find interesting. It is a virtual tour of the Vatican.

INSTRUCTIONS: After you link on the site below and select an image and it appears, then HOLD DOWN THE LEFT MOUSE BUTTON AND SLOWLY MOVE THE CURSOR AROUND THE ROOM, YOU CAN ALSO MOVE THE CURSOR DOWNWARD TO CHECK OUT THE CEILINGS AND UPWARD TO SEE THE FLOOR AREAS

Fingers & toes crossed! ACK!

I'd be happy to do it. We've got 4-5 packs of the magnetic paper. What would you like?

If you have any left, we couldn't find any magnetic paper either. We are not picky and would happily accept any design that you see fit. If not, no worries, we were just going to decorate our door with WDW magnets.

So, do you want the mickey ears as shown HERE? If so, which one?

That's the Basilica of St. John Lateran.

Hi

Do you think would be able to do both Cinque Terre and Pisa on my own ?
If not wich one do you suggest I do ?

Also, can you confirm that there is not shower gel in the cabin, only soap bar

And happy mother day

Thanks

I started packing and think that I may be OVER packing...I am trying to have a good mix of long sleeve/short sleeve, pants/shorts, especially for my kids. We usually head to Florida for our family vacations and what I don't pack I can just buy. Only 3 more sleeps till we are Paris bound!

Hey, We are doing Cinque Terre on our own...I would say it would be hard to do both on your own. I vote for CT since Pisa is a tower and you have to buy tickets in advance to climb it. The only way I can see both is by doing a short stop at Pisa and only doing 1-2 towns in CT but it would be rushed since you have to rely on when trains are going places.

I have looked at boat and train schedules quite a bit for CT and there is a 9:15 ferry (about 2 hours to get to the furthest town) or you can take a 10 ish train to get there.

Our plan is to ferry to Vernazza, train to Corgnilia and then Hike to the next one (cant think of the name offhand)..

CT looks amazing and my Aunt was just there in April and said it is better than the Amalfi Coast and so worth doing.

This volcanic ash is stressing us out too... but I read an article this morning that is promising. They think the ash cloud will start to dissipate and the volcanic eruptions are weakening. Fingers crossed.

I can confirm that DCL provides only bar soap and not shower gel... unless something has changed in the last 6 months.

OK, is anyone else starting to freak about packing? I don't want to do *too* much ahead of time, as the sooner I'm packed, the more I'll find to shove in the suitcase & overpack, but I don't want to leave it all for Wednesday, either. I'm starting to get that panicky feeling...

Sayhello

I am as well, but more so because I don't want to pack and then not be able to go. Our flight from the US has been cancelled the past 2 days and so far for tonight it is delayed 2 hours. I did decide to just go ahead and pay for an extra bag so that I do not have to stress about the weight and if we buy too many souvenirs.

No need to stress...do you have a packing checklist? Go through it thoroughly and add/subtract. You don't actually have to physically start packing in order to get ready. We won't pack until Wednesday.

I hate hate packing...but on the other hand I am all done. Only have a few carry on details left like computers and such.

We have company coming in today-tuesday and leaving wed so needed to be packed by today.

It feels so good once you get it done, but boy did i have no idea what to pack. Though mananged to keep suitcases under the weight limit with room to spare

I am a little conserned about packing because I just check the weather in most of ports. Rain, rain rain...better find those umbrellas.
