~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
I Absolutely love your American Girl clothes. I too am trying to pay our way to Disney this year. I am a school teacher and I tutor dyslexic children in the evening. I told my husband that I was going to put away all of my tutoring money so we could take a trip later this year. I would love to add to your cause and buy my seven year old an outfit for her doll. Can you get me some info.
Happy Halloween!!!
We just got six inches of snow and there is no school because of power outages so we will be trick-or-treating in our snow boots tonight for the first time ever.
The Dis doesn't let people solicite business but I can send you an email with D's information on how to get one of her fabulous creations.
WELCOME!!!!! And thank you! I hope you'll continue to follow my PTR. :lovestruc
How awesome that you are paying your way to Disney such a wonderful way! Just think of all the lives you are changing! Amazing! :banana:
You must live on the East coast... I hope you are doing well, and still have power. I must say, living in the midwest, I do not look forward to snow, and I know it could come at any minute - I just pray it takes it's time.
Fabric update...
It's here and in the washer. Just because I know you are all waiting for me to finish my project. :rolleyes1
I only have two of the dolls, Kirsten and Samantha. My daughter was always carefull with them, so they look brand new. We also have bitty baby, any plans for bitty baby outfits in your future? One Christmas years ago I made her a whole wardrobe for her dolls, so I know how much work is involved!! You do awesome work!!
I'm okay with you getting TP'ed and egged and whatever else. We want to see your amazing secret creation! :lmao::rotfl2: :lmao::rotfl2:
You should be sewing now....trick or treating should be done :rotfl:!
I'm still fixing my room!
I took these pics earlier today!
It looks much better now but not 100%. Hopefully I can finish it up tomorrow and then back to sewing!:woohoo:
Oooh - I'll make the sign in Photoshop, and then we'll both go together! How could she resist both of us, AT THE SAME TIME???? We'll just have to hide the laundry basket full of tshirts that need to be embroidered behind us, or something.
I dunno. :confused3
Pheasant hunting... they pluck them and freeze them before they head home... it would be on ice... in the cooler... in the back.
Not like I'd let him take Cherrryl deer hunting or anything. :rolleyes1
I think we need to crack the whip on you... you only have 4 weeks! :wizard:
:lovestruc See, seriously - who can resist VB and Disney combined???? Totally kindrid spirits... and neither of us has an embroidery machine. :rolleyes1 I wonder if Cheryl has one? Well, we know she has a bedazzler - so we can hit her house after we are done at Andrea's. :rolleyes1
D~
OMG! I was laughing so hard I can't even use the abbreviation - I was Laughing My ___ Off! :lmao:
So - when are we meeting at Andrea's? Definitely her place first and THEN Cheryl's . . . let's give that snow a chance to melt!
Maybe you could just hurry up and win that lottery - a nice cruise in warm weather and machines for everyone (ours can be embroidery machines so Andrea can teach us how to use them) . . . yeah, how nice would that be right about now?
Oh! Wait! I'm supposed to be sewing, aren't I? :rolleyes1 Can't - DH is sleeping and for some CRAZY reason he says he can't sleep while I'm sewing. :sad2: I can't imagine WHY - it's not like the machine is right next to his head or anything! Jeeze! It's a whole 36" away for cryin' out loud!:rolleyes1
One Christmas years ago I made her a whole wardrobe for her dolls, so I know how much work is involved!! You do awesome work!!
That is awesome that your dd took such good care of her dolls -Kirsten and Samantha are both archived now, so you can no longer get them from AG - I believe that AGs are good enough quality, that you should be able to pass them down. :lovestruc I plan to do the same thing with my girls' dolls someday... I need to focus on getting them into high school, out of high school, into college, out of college & married first... then we'll talk. :rotfl2:
Sorry, no plans for Bitty Baby outfits, at this time - not saying I won't do it someday, but that would requre me to redraft all my patterns again - or draft different ones, and that would be a lot more work than I can do in this short time. :eek:
I'm okay with you getting TP'ed and egged and whatever else. We want to see your amazing secret creation!
ROFL... No TPing for us - we survived. And my El'Cheapo self survived Halloween on my $5 candy budget. I'd tell you all a really funny story, but it probably is one of those stories that "you'd have to be there" to think is funny. So, I am just going to tell you all that I have a reeeaaaaallllllyyyyy funny story and leave it at that. :rotfl2:
Aren't hubbies for handing out candy so you can sew??
Yah, I tried that. My nieghbor called me and asked me to come over and help her hand out candy while her dh was out with the kids. So, I said "sure". Left DH here. So, my neighbor and I decided to sit out on her front lawn to hand out candy - I needed a coat, so I ran back home - and there's DH putting up a sign on our door saying "We're next door ----->" ROFL - so he was ditching our house too.
It looks like it's coming together! I love the shelves - I am sure they will help with organizing. Are you going to put your fabric on them? Or what are you planning to use them for?
OMG! I was laughing so hard I can't even use the abbreviation - I was Laughing My ___ Off! :lmao:
Yes, you shouldn't even try to use abbreviations like that in my PTR - it's G rated, you know - but what you do in your own PTR is your business - unless I hijack it while you are gone, of course. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:
So - when are we meeting at Andrea's? Definitely her place first and THEN Cheryl's . . . let's give that snow a chance to melt!
We need to figure out a definate time. I wasn't planning on doing it quite yet, I still need to go out and buy about 20 tshirts in various sizes to embroider... I don't know how many you need to do. And no need to pack and stabilizer or anything - I know Andrea has all of that, and she won't mind if we borrow it. :worship:
Maybe you could just hurry up and win that lottery - a nice cruise in warm weather and machines for everyone (ours can be embroidery machines so Andrea can teach us how to use them) . . . yeah, how nice would that be right about now?
I agree, maybe I should start buying some lottery tickets? I know you all are depending on me for that cruise... It will be so much fun! :banana:
Oh! Wait! I'm supposed to be sewing, aren't I? :rolleyes1 Can't - DH is sleeping and for some CRAZY reason he says he can't sleep while I'm sewing. :sad2: I can't imagine WHY - it's not like the machine is right next to his head or anything! Jeeze! It's a whole 36" away for cryin' out loud!:rolleyes1
Yes, you should be sewing Marianne... and I really don't know what is wrong with your dh... 36" is pleanty of clearance from your machine to ensure a perfect night's sleep. :confused3 I am sure it's not the machine noise that bothers him - It's probably the light, unless you are sewing in the dark, then that would explain a lot about both of your situations. :rotfl2:
I am really excited to get up to my sewing room and finish up my project. I had it mostly together, and then I didn't like part of it - so I am in the process of ripping it apart. But I am mostly done ripping, it shouldn't mess up my time line too much. I still hope to be done with it today. The fabric that arrived yesterday is PERFECT... I was debating about which one to get - in the end - Ol' Miss El'Cheapo won out - and I got the bargain fabric and I am glad I did, because it's perfect. :lovestruc
I also have to run to the PO at some point this morning - I have a couple pkgs that are waiting to be mailed. :lovestruc
that is too funny!:lmao::lmao::rotfl::rotfl:
The screams echo through the arena, as the crowds anxiously await the unveiling....
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Totally kidding, of course. Well, maybe not. We shall see.
So, most people that read my PTR, know that I have this OCDP issue. They also know that I love the Vera Bradley Hipster, it is my preferred bag to carry at all times, however, there were some quirks that I just couldn't get over.
I really thought about writing to VB, but who was going to listen to me? Probably no one. Even if they did modify my favorite bag to fit with in my criteria - it still wouldn't be Disney. See where I am going with this?
So, the strange person that I am, I decided that I would take it upon myself to create the perfect Disney park bag for me.
1. It had to be Donald
2. It must be supurb in quality
3. It must be quilted
4. It had to have a padded & adjustable crossbody strap
5. It must have a LGMH
6. It must have a zipper closure
7. It must have a slip pocket for park maps
8. It must have a small front zip pocket
9. It must be a bit bigger than the Hipster
10. It must have a clasp inside to attach my wallet to
11. It must have some sort of contraption to hold my water bottle upright
12. It must have a pocket to fit my Mini-Planner
13. It must have a pocket for my Sharpie
14. It must have quilted interior pockets
15. It must be FUN!
I wasn't sure I could live up to my requirements. But I think I did pretty good.
Requirement #1 - It must be Donald
Requirement #2 - It must be supurb in quality
Requirement #3 - It must be quilted
Requirement #4 - It had to have a padded & adjustable crossbody strap (which I didn't photograph well)
Requirement #5 - It must have a LGMH
IMG_21498.jpg
Requirement #6 - It must have a zipper closure
IMG_215211.jpg
Requirement #7. - It must have a slip pocket for park maps
IMG_21465.jpg
IMG_21487.jpg
Requirement #8 - It must have a small front zip pocket
IMG_21476.jpg
Requirement #9 - It must be a bit bigger than the Hipster
IMG_215413.jpg
IMG_215514.jpg
Requirement #10 - It must have a clasp inside to attach my wallet to
Requirement #11 It must have some sort of contraption to hold my water bottle upright
Requirement #12 - It must have a pocket to fit my Mini-Planner
Requirement #13 - It must have a pocket for my Sharpie
Requirement #14 - It must have quilted interior pockets
IMG_21432.jpg
(back side of quilted interior pocket)
IMG_21411.jpg
Wallet clasp and water bottle contraption (which neither can be seen very well)
IMG_215312.jpg
Requirement #15 - It must be FUN!
(The back - who can really resist a Duck Butt???)
IMG_21509.jpg
(And Donald's hat as a zipper pull?)
IMG_215110.jpg
And in case you were wondering... You could carry a heavy Passporter in here - if you were so inclined... Which I am not.
IMG_215615.jpg
And, just because I can, and he's cute...
I must agree OMG :worship: that is so stinkin cute! love the duck butt :rotfl:
think you just created a new line for your etsy store my friend :goodvibes
I'm second in line.......
That bag is absolutely fantabulous.
You are my hero. I have never even made a basic tote bag.
Oh, I've done that before. It usually has "Thank you" written three times on it ... sometimes even Wal-Mart or Target. :lmao::rotfl2:
Well, I guess I didn't technically make the bag, but I turned it into a tote. That counts, right? :confused3
OMG! That is even more fabulous than I imagined it to be!!!! I think you need to either sell the pattern or go into production - I will be anxiously awaiting mine to arrive (either the pattern or the bag - I love Figment, but as you know, I'm also a huge Mickey fan as well).... :rolleyes1
I am waiting in line too....not so patiently, but waiting. You are definitely on to something great here!!! :worship:
Yup... Everything counts in this PTR. :cloud9:
:lovestruc
You guys are too funny... I think I'd have to sell the pattern, because for me to make bags like this for everyone - would take me tons of tme... I wouldn't mind making some here n' there (for my non sewing friends), but they wouldn't be cheap. :eek: That's the problem... I wish I could afford to give everything I make away for free, because honestly - I love to give things away. :cloud9:
