How exciting!! Any big news today?!?

Had my monthly appointment today. Everything is going well.

My hospital is building a new hospital. It was supposed to open in June, but now it's been pushed back to August 5th!! I'm due August 25th! I really want to deliver at the new hospital, but most of all I do NOT want to go into labor while the hospital is in the middle of the move!! I'm hoping there are no more delays. Always something to worry about. *sigh*

Glad to hear everyone is progressing nicely! :goodvibes I’m 18 weeks and don’t have another appointment until May 15 but everything is going smoothly.

That's interesting. This baby has been super active during ultrasounds and even when trying to check heart rate with the doppler...always flipping around. I've never heard about it being a girl thing, but if so, she sure fits the mold. I've only just started (barely) feeling her, so I'm sure I'll be well aware of how active she is pretty soon...looking forward to it!

Funny that you two should mention that girls are more active bc my little guy is definitely NOT active at ultrasound time. I swear at my 12 week he was sleeping and at 16 he did some little waves and kicks but no flips or anything. I was a little concerned but lately I feel him bumping around in my tummy a lot so I guess he’s just not a performer for ultrasounds. Maybe next time I’ll have some sugar before the ultrasound and see if I can wake him up ;). I love feeling him kick…. Of course he only does it for me. Every time DD or DH try to feel he’s still. Poor DD has been disappointed not to feel him but I told her it will be easier in a few weeks.

Congrats! I love the announcement. He’s precious and your girls look so sweet.

So I need opinions from you ladies on my travel plans.
DH and I are doing a trip by ourselves June 1-8 to Iceland (I know, we’re crazy) and about a week after we get back we are driving to Tampa to celebrate his grandmother’s 80th birthday. Since DD is not going on our Iceland trip we were planning to do a few days at the beach with her as one last family vacation. Over the last few days I’ve been thinking since we will be in Tampa why not stop by WDW for a couple of nights… right?!? I swore I wouldn’t go to Disney pregnant in the summer but now I’m changing my mind! I’ll be 25 weeks and I just can’t decide if it would be too miserably hot & crowded for me. We usually go in the off-season when it’s cool and crowds are lower. I’m really tempted to go for like 2-3 nights and do a low key trip especially since I don’t really want to take baby boy until he’s like a year old. I’m not sure I can go nearly 2 years without a WDW trip! Ohhh... AND I have like $600 worth of points on my Disney Visa that I pay for part of the trip with. That's another great reason to go...
Thoughts on WDW pregnant in the summer?

Well, Tuesday I was supposed to have my 1st trimester screen u/s, but the symbiote sat straight up through it all and wouldn't assist the tech. So I ended up rescheduling for today when it was more cooperative. Things generally look fine, although it's apparently measuring about a week ahead so they've stepped up my due date to 11/5 (just before election day).

With regard to activity indicating a girl, I hope you're right. It was noticeably moving at our 9 week scan and was definitely active during the two this week. It's not that I'd be bothered by a boy, I'd just rather have a girl.

I don't think it's odd for you to go to Iceland, I hear it's lovely. And trips there are a great buy now. As for Disney, I personally wouldn't want to travel there in the summer period, let alone while dragging around an extra person in my belly. However, I also believe that the answer to the question, "Should we go to Disney?" should always be answered, "Of course!" I think it would be great for your DD if her last trip as the family baby had a little Disney magic in it.

Thoughts on WDW pregnant in the summer?
If I were basing my answer on my first pregnancy, I would totally say GO at 25 weeks. This pregnancy, however-I can barely walk at 26 weeks. Like the car into my office is often overwhelming with pain. I have had round ligament pain for at least 8 weeks. Walking, standing...hurts. Stabbing, burning pain. I really am still in shock when it happens, because I had SUCH an easy, amazing first pregnancy. Seriously, if I hadn't had the belly and felt the movement, I would have basically felt normal. I could have done WDW up until about 38 weeks with no sweat. This time? I was nauseous until they finally figured out what was wrong with me (reflux combined with asthma) and now the pain. So yeah...hard to predict.

I have my glucose test tomorrow and am feeling pretty anxious about it. Luckily you get the results immediately, so I'll know I passed or that I need the 3hr before I leave, which is great. I should also be able to schedule my c-section. I ended up with one last time after being in labor all day and pushing for 2 hours (and would have had a broken tailbone had I delivered) so I'm all for the repeat!

Thoughts on WDW pregnant in the summer?

I have no desire to make a WDW trip right now (okay, maybe a small desire, but not too much), HOWEVER, if I were going to be in Tampa anyway...then YES, for sure, I'd stop by. Especially since I, like you, am planning to wait until baby's around 1 for the first trip...and that's a long time to wait!

I spend most of my DIS time over on the Trip Report boards and I have read some pregnant-at-WDW trip reports. The take-aways I have from that are to be prepared to miss out on some of the rides, plan to take a lot of breaks because of getting tired more quickly than normal, and--for summer--drink a ton of water and spend a good amount of time in the air-conditioned shows and attractions.

If you plan for this to be a pretty relaxed trip, I think it could be a wonderful time!

I just asked my midwife about this girls-are-more-active thing at my appointment yesterday. She said that it's not true and there are plenty of very active boys.

Although, I will say that our little girl is crazy active anytime someone's peeking in on her. The midwife tried to listen to her heartbeat with the doppler and, once again, she kept losing it because baby kept moving...she even heard a kick with the doppler!

I still am only just feeling her slightly (I didn't even feel the kick we heard). We're 22 weeks now, so it seems like I should be feeling more, given how active we know she is, but I guess it's coming.

Most important thing is she seems to be perfect. Midwife reviewed the anatomy scan results from 2 weeks ago and seemed impressed. 51st percentile, measuring perfect, no issues...we're very grateful!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Thanks! DH and I are super excited about Iceland. We are big into travel and have wanted to visit Iceland for years. What’s funny is most of our friends can’t understand why in the world I want to go there especially pregnant. It looks gorgeous and laid back. Plus in about a month I’ll be excited to get a break from the Atlanta heat. We’ve got a lot of tours planned some with hiking but nothing too crazy.

Oh wow, that sounds awful. I can’t imagine having round ligament pain all the time. I’ve had a little first thing in the morning or when I stand up after sitting for a while. It feels like a major cramp then passes. So far, this pregnancy has been pretty easy. I feel great, just tired and a new development is I get nauseous in the shower…. Weird. I’m just hoping I continue to feel good!

How was your glucose test? Did you get to schedule your C-section?

I bet you’ll be able to feel her more in the coming weeks! I felt this baby earlier than DD and mainly if I’m laying down or sitting still. It’s so cool. DH & DD are still waiting to feel him.

Well I couldn’t resist. I booked 3 nights at the Yacht club June 19, 20 & 21. We aren’t going to tell DD. After the family reunion in Tampa we will pack up to drive “home” to Disney! I already told DH that it’s not going to be park intense. I plan to do one pool day and the other 2 days we will do the parks in the morning and at night and take a pool / nap break during the heat of the day. I have the feeling there will be a lot of daddy daughter bonding going on. They will get to ride some “fun stuff” while I shop for baby boy or maybe lounge in the pool. I'm so excited! I just hope we can keep it a secret from DD. She's going to flip!

That's awesome and I hope you have a great trip! I'm sure you'll have fun shopping for baby boy. That's the biggest reason I would want to go to WDW while pregnant...because there's so much adorable baby stuff to get!

I just peeked over at your blog and wanted to say your daughter is adorable! Also, interesting that you considered Seattle/Vancouver for your babymoon. We're actually doing that in early June. Flying into Seattle, renting a car, and driving up to Vancouver. We're going to help DH's uncle (lives in Vancouver) celebrate their 40th anniversary. Should be a fun little getaway and he has a lot of suggestions on great places to visit while we're there. Looking forward to it!

Oh, and I think you said you're going to Iceland at 22 weeks...that's what I am right now and I feel generally pretty great (although a bit nauseous today, but that's unusual). Hopefully you'll be feeling pretty good too at that point. Iceland looks beautiful!

I know, right? My hubby took me to the Disney Store near us last week and oh my word...all of the cute Disney baby girl clothes they had! I could have spent $200-$300 on everything I saw. It was hard walking out of there!

We have our next midwife appointment tomorrow. I am hoping all goes well! I've been trying to get more protein, as I was told I am not eating enough, but it's been a challenge because I love veggies and fruit so much! I think I've done okay though. I am also curious to find out if my baby girl is turning head down (she was still head up two weeks ago) - I am feeling her kicks and punches in places I've not felt them before and it is becoming more difficult to sleep on my right side when in the past, the left side was worse to sleep on. I guess we will see tomorrow! And I finally started feeling Braxton Hicks contractions. Not painful, but I definitely feel the pressure from my uterus tightening up! 9.5 weeks to go!

So hello all! I'm expecting early January-ish. I'm very excited. I'll be touching base with my midwife as I get closer to 10 weeks. I'm only 4 weeks now and I literally just found out yesterday that I'm pregnant. I've had the worst heartburn for a week, which is always a dead give away for me. I'm headed to WDW this Saturday. I'm just glad that I'll be going before my morning sickness usually hits and I'm hoping it doesn't hit AT ALL. I really could do without that this time. This thread is so long I feel like I'll be buried and that I'm jumping into a club that's been going on for awhile. So Hi! Hope to get to know more of you! Anyone else an early 2013er?

Welcome TARDIS and congratulations! :goodvibes

Keeping my fingers crossed for you not to have morning sickness in WDW! My husband and I went when I was 8 weeks pregnant and I had it every single morning and afternoon...but it did not stop us from having the most magical trip (it was his very first time to go to WDW)! I wish you a wonderful trip! :wizard:

I worry about protein too. I was vegetarian for 2 years and added fish back into my diet last summer. My doc seems to think my intake is good. She said low mercury fish/seafood is ok 2-3 times a week plus I try to eat a lot of yogurt, beans & cheese things like that. Lately I’ve been eating apple slices with peanut butter YUM!

How was the appointment? Did baby girl turn? Those last few weeks can be uncomfortable but you’re so close! She will be here soon.

Congratulations and welcome! What an exciting time for you. I hope you manage to enjoy WDW without sickness. This is my second pregnancy and I haven’t been sick at all (currently 19 wks). With DD I was throwing up all the time but this baby (DS) has been kinder ;) Can’t wait to hear about your trip I just booked a quickie trip for mid June. I'm not looking forward to the heat BUT it will likely be our last trip for a loooonnnnnggggg time.

amyren, If I were going to be that close to Disney I would totally go too! And I don't even have another child to take with me. You have your DD who will be thrilled! Sounds like you have an easy-going trip planned, and that's the way to do it. Enjoy!!

I will not be going until our DD turns 1. We haven't been seen Sept 2009 so I'm totally itching to get back but I want to wait until she's a little older so we're waiting. We were spoiled having gone in 2006, 2007, 2008, AND 2009, the latter 3 years with free dining. (when they still offered the regular plan and not just the quick service plan to those staying at value resorts)

There's a lot of excitement going on here, I can hardly keep up! :goodvibes

I have my 1 hour glucose test tomorrow. I'm so jealous that you'll know your results right away WDWAurora! As far as I know, I will not find out for a week. I do have my regular appointment with the dr right after they draw my blood so I'll ask the dr to find out for sure when I will get results. After tomorrow I will start going every 2 weeks. It's INSANE to me how quickly it's moving along now.
oh yeah..we got baby girl's room all painted and furniture is all set up! We're waiting til after my shower next month to see what we receive from our registry and then we'll buy the rest of the bedding, etc, so the room should be totally complete by end of June. :)

Amyren, have so much fun at Disney! Welcome TARDIS! I hope you have a great Disney trip - I did not have any morning sickness at all and would have been fine on a Disney trip in the first trimester, so maybe you will get lucky this time!

Cher, we have been pretty regular with our Disney trips as well, but we decided we also wanted to wait until our future little one was a year old to go back. At first it was two, and now I am seriously thinking of going around the 12-14 month age late next year. Does anyone have any positive stories to share of taking a child that young? I always said I would wait, but I just don't think I can! :)

Sounds like things are going well with everyone's pregnancies. :goodvibes We have our big ultrasound in less than two weeks! We are both so excited to find out what we are having! Of course, the most important thing is a healthy little baby in October.

Hi All,

I was on this thread back in 2009, but I've been reading every since I graduated from it. My little one will be 2.5 in 10 days I can't believe it!.

DisneyElite4- I took my son to Disney when he was 13 months old and had a fantastic time! I would take another child at that age in a heart beat. The great thing about Disney and Magic Kingdom especially was the ability to take him on so many rides. And at that age he didn't understand being scared on the rides, but was able to take it all the lights, sounds, and movements! He lit up on It's a Small World! We went again when he was 18 months and again he was great. Went again when he was 25 months and that's where the challenge begun. He wanted to be more independent and walk around rather than be in his stroller, he hated waiting in line (we went in January and the lines were minuscule). What I realize was that in between 18 and 25 months we had taken away his Paci which at 18 months made calming him down a lot easier. We're going again in July and he'll be over 2 and a half. He's a lot better with the stroller now and is learning patience, but I'm thinking a little repeat of January is going to happen, which I'm ready and prepared for. I have to say though, and I'm sure other mom's will back me up on this...There is nothing more magical than seeing the magic though your little ones eyes, no matter the age. As they get older and understand more the magic just grows and it's WONDERFUL!
