Here's what we've learned so far about Free Dining. THIS INFO NOW APPEARS SOLID. I'm posting what we think we know so far and I have no doubt some of this information will change.

  • Starting Monday, July 9th, 2012 .. Disney Visa Card Holders will be able to book Free Dining for the fall of 2012. You must have a Disney Visa card to book, they will ask for it.
  • Starting Thursday, July 12th, 2012 .. The General Public may call to book the Free Dining promotion.
  • There are room blocks dedicated for Disney Visa AND for the General Public
  • Free Dining will be offered selected date ranges from 09/30/12 to 12/13/12. Your check-in date must be on one of those days to receive free dining. Period.
    [*]
The only way around that is to split your reservation. If your check-IN date is December 13, you can get Free Dining for the duration of your stay at your check-in resort. Moving resorts mid-stay under these circumstances would terminate your free dining.
  • The main indications are that this will be for three nights minimum with 2 day ticket purchase required. Still checking on this part
  • The last day to book is scheduled to be September 29th
  • All suites, campsites and 3 bedroom villas have been excluded from this offer, also excluded the standard Little Mermaid rooms at the new Art of Animation Resort. All remaining Disney resorts, including the family suites at All-Star Music & Art of Animation, and value resorts included.
  • Value resort guests will enjoy the QuickService Dining plan at no charge and may pay the difference to upgrade to the full Disney Dining Plan ($16.55/day additional per adult) or even the Deluxe Dining Plan ($50.53/day additional per adult) if they wish
  • Moderate & Deluxe Resort guests will enjoy the Disney Dining Plan at no charge and may upgrade to Deluxe ($33.98 additional/day per adult) by paying the difference.
  • This offer is EXTREMELY limited. Not all resorts/room categories will have availability on all date ranges. Being flexible on either resort or dates or ideally BOTH.. is your best chance of getting this deal.

    Date ranges as noted below:
  • September 30 – October 4, 2012
  • October 19 – November 1, 2012
  • November 9 – 15, 2012
  • November 23 – 29, 2012
  • December 10 – 13, 2012

Please note the prices to upgrade should be close. But I might be off by a few pennies here and there.

Thanks, CanadianGuy! Very useful summary. Does anyone know how much it would cost per person per day to upgrade from Quick Service Dining to Full Dining if you stay in a Value Resort?

I do want to go back in December.

I'm looking for this answer too!:wave2:

Quick Service Dining Plan goes for about $34.99 a night for adults (10 and up).

Disney Dining Plan goes for about $51.54 a night.

So the difference between those for adults ($16.55/day) about $5/day in different for those under 10. Calculate based on your party size. :)

We have a disney visa but have not gotten any information about this. how do we book it? can we online?

Does anyone know for sure, if we have already made the booking, do we have to rebook it to get FD? I've read some places that I can just get my TA to apply the FD to my existing booking but some say that rebooking may be needed.

FD would totally help us enjoy our 1st trip to WDW!!

Waiting till 12 July... *whistle* :cool1:

For Disney Visa bookings I believe you must call to book.

Call your TA -- if you have any other discount you must forego any other discount for FREE DINING. Also- Free dining must be package booking. So if you have room only, it will have to be converted to a package.

There are so many things that can impact this answer that talking to your travel partner or calling Disney directly for the answer on your situation is best.

Is this still the minimum bc that is what I am planning on booking. If can't book another night due to work and a three-day park ticket would mean no Halloween party (I have a 6-year old daughter, so I refuse to go to a park the same day as the party and my flight is leaving too early to go on our last day).

thanks!

I tried to read through. Any rumblings for FD in 2013? I know last year the fall FD promo included early 2013.

That is confirmed. 3 night stay at rack rate with a 2 day base ticket.

As of this announcement, no dates fall in 2013. An announcement in late August or early September may (or may not) open these dates up more or extend them into January.

But nothing yet.

I am wondering if I book a room for 9 days, but only want to buy their ticket for 2 days, will I still get free dining? I pre-purchased 10 day tickets before the price went up? Any thoughts?

you only need to purchase tickets for 2 days. we have an AP and booked free dining today for 7 nights, with only 2 day tickets because we have annual passes. we just won't use the tickets, and when it's time to either renew our APs or buy tickets for a future trip, we will upgrade these 2 unused tickets.

for FREE dining! I was on the phone at 6:55 and was on hold for an hour and 10 minutes to find out there were NO mod rooms left, after researching online I found that there were indeed some mods left called back and was only able to get POFQ little nervous about this resort because everyone says its so small and was really looking forward to Coronado Springs but excited none the less.

The card holder's website says it's a 6 night/7 day stay required. Is it different for the public?

Everything else I've heard says 4 day/5 night 2 day base ticket? :confused3

Those number of nights quoted on the Disney Visa page or in WDW promos are just for advertising purposes. All free dining proms have a 3 night minimum/14 maximum for booking and require a 2 day base ticket.

What they said!

Does Disney ever extend the FD dates? I was disappointed to find that our check-in date was not included (especially since it isn't during Columbus Day weekend or fall break periods). I'd be willing to move a day or two to fit in!

Well it can happen and it has happened... but, I certainly can't say you should expect it... more than likely, these are the dates...sometimes they increase early December dates..

What is your current check in date?

10/13. I can move it a few days, but not all the way back to the next date (10/19).
