DIS Divas Trip! (old thread, see first post for link to new one)

I feared my yearly Disney trips were coming to an end. When I found out about the DIS Divas, I thought it was an opportunity to meet new people and keep my Disney tradition alive.

That's it in a nutshell! I can't wait to meet everyone!
When my kids moved out I took many trips by myself. I loved it! My DD Sarah got me involved in this group and we've been on all the trips. Now I've got a grand daughter who turned one last month. She's been to the parks twice and I'm taking her again this Sat.
Testing to see if I can post a picture...

That's my girl - Maxine

And this is me (red eyes and all) :)

I did it!! That is so exciting!
I was excited too when I figured out how to post pics. But I never would have done it without Beth's help!
Some years ago we were in line for Splash Mountain, there were two couples who had to be at least 75 - 80 just ahead of us. Both ladies put on their oldy-timey rain hats (the ones that fold up like accordions) and climbed on the ride with their husbands. They obviously had been on the attraction before. I turned to my then teenaged daughter and said "You are NEVER too old to enjoy Disneyland.

Minnie...thank you for the welcome.

Three years ago I got my then 86 year old Mom on Splash Mountain. After the ride she looked at the drop and said Did I REALLY do that?????
So it's true you're never too old. I hope I'll still be enjoying the rides when I'm that old.:goodvibes

Good morning everyone . Lots happening in my life :faint:. Nothing bad though which is good :thumbsup2.

About 6 or 7 years ago when my grandma was 79 I got her to ride California Screamin'. She enjoyed it but she told her doctor when she returned and he wasn't too pleased. But she's still alive so I guess it wasn't too bad of a decision...

Dawn love the pic of your little Maxine. What a cutie. And yes they do have organizations that help with vet bills. I was so very lucky that some of my FB friends lead me to one that was able to help. NOne of them pay the whole bill but they pay a portion and every bit helps.

Welcome to the other new ladies and look forward to meeting you all. My mom goes on the trip and is also a grandma. She will be 69 on the first day of our trip next year so don't ever feel like you are "too old". She loves it and eventhough she now has to get a scooter she is always raring to go!!

Trudi have fun with Violet this weekend. Is it just you or is your daughter and son in law going as well?

Welcome to all the new gals!

Nothing much new here... spouse is still unemployed. He had a good interview last week and then they called yesterday and said they might be putting the position on hold. Ugh. We should know more later this week. The re-fil is moving ahead again and we have a tentative appointment to close with the notary on Friday at 8PM. Hopefully that will hold. Tomorrow is our 20th anniversary. Nothing exciting planned for that except dinner at Red Lobster. YUM!

I booked myself one of my little quickie trips to DL for my birthday. Well, not ON my birthday (curse you, 4th of July weekend crowds! LOL), but one of those first flight out one day, last flight home the next day trips. I need a fix. LOL Totally plan on getting a birthday button too. And did you all see the new "Shoe" ornaments they are doing this year? I think I need one. Or two. LOL Maybe this trip I'll actually FINALLY try the Cove Bar. Yep, still haven't been there. I also got my week at the cabin up on the coast booked for mid June to go work on my stuff for Convention in July. 4 full days of peace, quiet, no schedule, no responsibility, just stamping and frequent trips down to the beach. Aaahhhhhhhh!

That's all that's going on here!

Jessica bought me an orange bracelet for Mother's Day ...... Does that count??:rotfl2:

It counts in that it will make a lovely accessory to go with the orange shirt that you plan to wear. I have orange sunglasses too.

I know exactly what you mean about looking in the mirror and wondering who that older lady is looking back!

It is a wee bit of shock isn't it. Only part of me that is old are my knees. I fear they are in their 70's.

Absolutely!!! I got my Dad on ToT when he was 81!! He is very handicapped now, so I had been pushing him all over the parks in a wheelchair. He made quite an impression on all of the other people in our elevator with his cane and shakes and trouble with the seat belt. Everyone one joined in the laughter at my dad's whoops of excitement as we went plunging. Quite a few fellow riders patted him on the back and one shook his hand for being on the ride. It was really cute.

My Mom went on Space at 78...am not sure she has forgiven me yet.

We did not tell my Dad's doctor of his adventure.

I am thinking the Cove Bar will be featured on the PubCrawl.......

Hope you are packing your orange shirt!!!

Oh, and I, too, am 50-something, but nowhere close to being a Grandma...at least I hope that it works out that way. My DD is just 12, I started the whole baby thing a year before 40.

Last year when I turned 51 (at DL of course), I decided that 50-something rocked it way more than paltry 50!!!!

No way could I get my Mom on that. She has such a fear of coasters, never liked them at all even in her youth.

Parents will hang out in DTW like last time. Seeing a movie and doing some pub crawling. Violet and I will have a blast! Hoping that Sarah will be able to go.

I forgot when your birthday is. I know we're close. Mine is the 7th. Not sure if I'll make a birthday trip though. My pass expires at the end of June and I might wait to renew it just before Labor Day for the marathon.

Mine is the day before yours. the 6th. Smack dab in the middle of the 4th weekend. LOL And this year is that milestone year that starts with "5". LOL

There are a bunch of us around that time...I know at least three of us have a July 10 birthday.

Oh, and hello to the new divas!

Oh, and my ds turned 8 this weekend. :scared1:

I have a July 8th Bday. I can't spend it at DL though. It would be great to have an AP and go whenever I felt like it!

You're going to D23? There are a group of us going as well.

:cool1::cool1: I never thought to ask if any other Divas were going (which clearly seems silly now that I think about it!) I'm going down to my BFF Nancy's house (future Diva), and driving down with her and her husband. We are driving down on Monday, Aug 5th. We wanted to get some park time, and are only going to the Expo on Friday. We head back to Sacramento on Saturday.

Who else is going?

Right now, it's me, Vicki, Becci, Linda, Bree and possibly Cheryl. Vicki, Becci and I are staying at Candy Cane Inn; Linda & Bree are staying at the Marriott.

Vicki and I are going all 3 days, I think the others are going Friday & Saturday.

Hello, ladies!! Happy Hump Day, and Happy National Chocolate Chip day to y'all, and happy one month until vacation day to me! :teeth: LOL I love looking at my ticker!

Hope you are all doing well. Have a good day!

Off to catch up on some posts....

I have never seen the movie, Goonies. tried watching it with my DD when she was about 6 and it was "too scary". Really?
I liked it. Cute movie. You should try watching it again.

Oh. My. So many new people! I failed at learning everyone's names at the last one, gonna be a miserable failure this time. Thank Bob for nametags!
Bob? Callie's husband is Dan. :p
(Sorry, cheesy joke. Callie's husband Dan is the one who makes the name tags for those who don't know)

I live in rural Oregon. My youngest daughter is in college and will be moving out in a couple of years, so I feared my yearly Disney trips were coming to an end. When I found out about the DIS Divas, I thought it was an opportunity to meet new people and keep my Disney tradition alive.

That's it in a nutshell! I can't wait to meet everyone!
Thanks for introducing yourself! (Did I miss your name in one of the posts? If so, sorry!)
Disney trips should never come to an end. Glad you are going to join us!

Jessica bought me an orange bracelet for Mother's Day ...... Does that count??:rotfl2:
It's a start. Now just add the orange shoes, orange sunglasses, orange tee, and you'll be styling! :thumbsup2

Happy Mother's Day to all our mom Divas - Furbaby moms too!!
Thanks, Christine! :goodvibes

I feel 19 again in my mind and am so excited to be visiting DL.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone.
Aw, well, that's all that matters! :) Looking forward to meeting you, too.

Happy Mother's Day!
Thanks, Cristabel! Hope you had a great day with your mom and family.

Awww, she's precious! Thanks for sharing her photo with us.
I'll add your photo to the front page with the other Divas if you'd like. I love the necklace you are wearing in your pic, by the way. Pretty!

My name is Dee Dee and I live in Northern California. Favorite attractions; POC and Haunted Mansion.
Hi, Dee Dee and welcome to the Divas!! Glad you could join in the fun. My favorite rides are Haunted Mansion and Pirates as well! :thumbsup2

UGHH!! it is supposed to be 100/101 all week - summer is here and there's no turning back...:sad2:
I know. It's been miserable here and it's only just beginning. Stay cool, Dawn!

So it's true you're never too old. I hope I'll still be enjoying the rides when I'm that old.:goodvibes
You will be, Trudi! I know it. ::yes::

Good morning everyone . Lots happening in my life :faint:. Nothing bad though which is good :thumbsup2.
Hey Miss Katie. Good to see ya here. I'm glad to hear you've got good things happening now. You deserve it! :flower3:

Fly-by hi, new ticker dance, hi to all the new ladies!
Love the new ticker! It looks mighty fine on ya! :thumbsup2

Hey Miss Lisa! Sorry your husband is still struggling. Hope something works out soon. But, I am glad to see you are treating yourself to a fun birthday trip. Good for you!

Oh, and my ds turned 8 this weekend. :scared1:
OMG, Sarah. I totally remember when he was just a little guy. Time sure does fly by!

Right now, it's me, Vicki, Becci, Linda, Bree and possibly Cheryl. Vicki, Becci and I are staying at Candy Cane Inn; Linda & Bree are staying at the Marriott.
Fun! I love hearing about all the mini meets. :)

I can see ideas toss around quickly! Just for the record, I'm fine with any color shirt :thumbsup2

I can't wait to hear more!

Let's see, I'm a disabled mom of 2 (now adult) children. I spend a little time each week volunteering for a women's crisis center and when I'm at home I spend time writing.

Of course I'm a HUGE Disney fan, taking the kids at least once a year since they were very little. We love DLR, and never pass up the chance to go and act like kids! :cool1:

Welcome.:flower3:

If you need an accessible room we have an opening in ours. There is moi ( Ruth) from Canada I use a power wheelchair. Lyn who uses a scooter from Cali and Tina ( from Texas) up until yesterday was not disabled. But has temporarily joins the wheelie group. She broke both ankles Yesterday. :( Plenty of time to heal we all hope.

So let me know. I have been saving a spot just in case someone needs the room. Message me if you would like more details. I know when I first joined I was not sure my chair would fit into a normal room. Thus I was nervous to join a room. Now I know I would have no issues. This is a very caring group of ladies. You will have so much fun !!!!
