Disney with Geeks!

I always liked DC better when it comes to comics, but even I think Marvel has the edge when it comes to movies! The kids are more balanced; they love the older Teen Titans show, but also love the Marvel movies. Hubby's the only strong Marvel guy here.

When it comes to Trek, Star Wars, Dr. Who, LOTR, or fantasy versus science fiction, none of us take sides. We like it all, although we're sometimes more in the mood for one or another. We only get in trouble when people's moods clash while we're trying to pick what to watch!

::yes::

That's our plan, as well. Should we ever get out that time of year. :upsidedow

:yay::yay:

I am soooo excited for the new Thor movie! I love Loki so much (actually almost anyone Tom Hiddleton plays)

I prefer Trek to Wars, but I do like them both (classic Star Wars anyway. Screw that new stuff lol)

Have a fun trip! Our vists just overlap as we arrive on Oct 11th. As you can tell by my user name I am a bit of a geek too.

We are very excited for F&WF - especially the imbibing part - and super serially for the tequila pairing lunch we are doing

We were soooo excited that we would be able to be there durring F&W!!! I can't wait to try as many different things as possible!!

Officially two days til we leave!!! I finally finished all my shopping and am furiously working on my costume!

I am nervous about the whole getting to the plane thing. I haven't flown in like 18 years so I am nervous. Not about the flight itself, just getting onto the plane. I will feel better once I am in my seat.

Danny is panicking about what to pack in his carryon, but I said, if you are not sure if they will let in on then check it.

Tony is coming over tonight for a Disney mini marathon. I haven't seen him too much since my birthday so that will be nice.

Ok gotta sew!

Please, please post a picture of your costume when done! (Fellow whovian). You guys souf lime a super fun bunch. I will have to check out your podcast later.

And don't worry about flying. My suggestion is to pack light for the flight.

I agree sleeping beauty is the best of the classics! I understand what you mean about Dumbo. I didn't care much for it recently until I watched it again recently with my son. He has an eye patch and gets made fun of a lot, so I related on a whole new level and cried through half the movie. I also have began to appreciate the artistry and music in the older movies more.

Your plans look great so far! It won't be long now!

I can't beleive that I will be at Disney in less than 24 hours. 20+ years in the making.

I still have to do a few things. I am mostly packed, but I have to do a quick clean of my apartment because my mom is feeding the fur babies while I am gone.

I have finished my costume (with ALOT of help from my mom, because I am soooo slow at sewing lol)

That is just the apron part, as I have already packed the shirt. I will be wearing a blue button down, a neck tie, 3D glasses, red "converse", and carrying my brother's 10th doctor sonic screwdriver. I think I will wear my adipose earrings too. All you whovians will get those references.

My next post will be a quick we're here post when we arrive and then I will post the whole TR when we get back. Super excited!!!

Hmmm for some reason, my whole last post isn't showing unless you click on it. (At least with the app, which is what I am using) so to see the pic of my costume and read the rest, just click on it. Idk If it is working for you guys but not so much for me...

I just saw it. Super cute! What a clever costume!

I can't take full credit for the idea. There is a girl who does them super well for $100 and if I had the money I woulda gotten one. Her shop is called Darling Army. She does aprons for almost every geek show/movie/game. I might get one for when I go to comicon.

I forgot to check in and let y'all know we are here. Day one was flying in and DTD, day 2 was MK, day 3 was AK (very stressful day for me), day 4 was me and tony at MK and EPCOT, and today is HS. Tomorrow is Universal Studios. I think Monday is back to EPCOT. Full TR when I get back. I am taking photos of all my food, because I know y'all love that stuff!

I will look for your TR!

Was thinking of this thread as I started getting my clothes together to pack. My husband was making fun of the fact the only t shirts I have are "geek" shirts (qwertee is my downfall). Can't wait to hear all about your trip!

You will fit right in! There are sooooo many geeks here! I was wearing my "you never forget your first doctor" and my "supernatural" tees and at least 6 times a day someone said they like it.

I got a Hufflepuff tee at Harry Potter world (Hufflepride!) and I intend on wearing it when we go to Epcot tomorrow! So far this trip is amazing! I am eating the biggest cupcake ever right now! I highly recommend the DDP. So much food!!!

Good to hear! Mine are mostly Supernatural/Final Fantasy/Star Wars/Legend of Zelda, glad I won't be the only one!!

It's our last full day! Sooo sad. :( last night we did the Halloween party, and the only person to recognize me as the doctor was Snow White's prince. Everyone recognized tony as the 11th doctor tho...

There are still soooo many characters I want to see, but I won't get to... We have seen alot, but I still would have liked to see more... Maybe next time... I am just lad we got to see Flynn and Philip. Those were the ones I realllllllly wanted to see last night. We also saw Naveen, and Charming, and Snow Prince, and Mad Hatter. We tried to see Jack Sparrow, but we couldn't find him. The map for MNSSHP was hard to read, and I wish they would have put on it which character was where.

I have been very very lax about writing my journal. Hopefully I will be able to do it on the flight tomorrow.

If you go next year, Josh at EasyWDW usually dones a run down of the characters and their locations with a description and sometimes a picture. His site is a pain to navigate, but I found this post easily with google, searching for "Mickey's not so scary Halloween party easy WDW."

http://www.easywdw.com/uncategorize...r-locations-and-strategy-buying-tickets-more/

He also does a yearly post with prices on the Halloween party merchandise. :thumbsup2

Mind you, I love that site for info but not the best place for a geek to post, at least if you're "on the spectrum," since I've seen Josh and his crew do a cool kids slam, complete with the "nobody else wants you around, either" routine, on someone who posted like a classic Aspie. :sad2:

I have finally uploaded my pictures to photo bucket, so I will be able to write updates over the next few days!! Yay!!

Having issues with the photo pass pics tho... All the pics from MNSSHP are missing... I have contacted them, so hopefully they will find them...

Great idea for the next time I go! I am planning on going in October 2015 with my friend Diane. I wish I had known about this before we went lol

YAY! Finally I can write an official TR! I have been back at work for two weeks now, and it is true, you really do get Disney withdrawal. Lol
So. Day one, October 1, 2013.
As you know, we had a flight out of Bradley at 8:00am. I haven’t flown in about 20 years, so I was worried about, not the flight itself, but the whole getting through security, and getting boarding passes etc.
I was woken up about 4:20am by Danny texting me reminding me to remember the luggage tags. Like I would forget that. – Side note: I was lucky to have cleaned out my entire purse, including the little zippy part, because I found the box cutter in there that I used when I worked for Target last winter! –
I was a little upset at Tony, because he couldn’t find the sonic screwdriver I needed for my costume. Of course, what can you expect when you don’t look until 5 min before we have to leave… The only things I still had to pack were personal items that I planned on using that day like shampoo. We were on the road by 4:50am. We had time to stop at Dunkin Donuts for lattés before we left. We made it to the airport with plenty of time to spare. Danny and Scott were there already. Scott’s aunt had to work, so they got there at like 5am. By the time we made it through security, which was not that bad, and to our gate, it was a little after 7am. Danny had never flown before, so he was very nervous, but he did a lot better than I thought he would do. The flight was un-eventful, I watched the end of a Manchester United game, and 1.5 episodes of Supernatural, and the flight was over.
I got a little turned around at the Orlando airport, but we were able to figure it out. It took us a little wandering to find the magical express. We had to wait for Tony and Danny to smoke before we checked into ME. This was a trend on this trip. We had to stop at OKW and POFQ before we got to POR.
Scott got a birthday button, because our TA told them it was his birthday, even though it wasn’t until the end of October. I was sooooo jealous, since my birthday was just as far away (just in the other direction) and it was a more significant birthday, as I turned 30. It took us a while to find our room, as the lady who checked us in circled the wrong building. We were excited to get the magic bands though! I thought we might but I wasn’t sure we would be able to. We got the boring grey, but it was sooooo convenient to use them. We stayed at Magnolia Terrace in Magnolia Bend.

We got to our room at about 12:30pm. After a quick look around, we decided to go to lunch at the Riverside Mill, and then wander around a bit before we headed to DTD.
For lunch, Tony and I got Cajun Chicken Sandwiches. They were a little dry, but the sauce was pretty good. We also got our mugs. I got Purple, Scott got Orange, and Tony and Danny got Green.

Scott got chicken nuggets and Danny got a bacon burger. They both liked them, but they were standard. Nothing to write home about.

We wandered around a bit. The place is HUGE. We didn’t even scratch the surface lol.

Of course, Danny couldn’t resist Scoot being vulnerable in that hammock…

He didn’t actually flip him, but he did fake him out lol.

By this time, it was time to move on and go to DTD. We took the boat, of course. Our captian was called Jim. He was entertaining, but not overly corny lol. We saw these crazy car boat things while on the way.

Ok, Next time: DTD! Hope you all are enjoying my first TR! Please feel free to comment and ask any questions!

I don’t know if anyone is reading this, but here is day one part 2!
So where we left off, we just landed in DTD!

Our first stop was Once Upon a Toy where this happened:

We wandered around for a while, but I didn’t find anything I really needed. Though I did tell everyone I wanted to buy some ears before we went back to the resort. The Lego statues outside the Lego Store were amazing! My favorite was this one, because Philip is my favorite prince.

After wandering around for a while, it was time for dinner. We had an ADR at Raglan Road.

I was sooo excited for this place. We were seated sorta in the back, which is sort of a bummer. We weren’t able to see the stage unless we walked around.

The place was awesome looking. I decided that since it was my first time to get a drink at Disney, I would get a Celtic Martini.

It was good. Not great. It had Bushmills Irish Honey, Bacardi Limon Rum, Pinapple, and a Squeeze of citrus.

They give you brown bread and a honey Guiness reduction.

It was good, but very filling. I wish I hadn’t eaten 1.5 pieces, because I got full to fast lol. For food, Danny and Tony had Serious Steak – 10oz sirloin topped with Irish whiskey marmalade glaze, with fresh basil oil, mashed potatoes & topped with beer battered onion rings. They liked it. They said the steak was very well cooked, and the potatoes were yummy.

Scott had Hail Caesar - Classic Caesar salad with prosciutto crisps, grape tomatoes, croutons & shaved parmesan, and he had chicken on it. He liked it, but he had some kind of balsamic vinegtette, which he didn’t like.

I had Keen eye for the Shepherd’s Pie. It was awesome. It looked so small in the pictures I saw, but it was huge when I got it. It was very yummy.

Before dessert we wandered around and took some pictures and videos. It was cute that they took some kids up on stage and taught them to step dance. For dessert, Scott had Dunbrody Kiss. It was by far the best dessert for at least the first few days. It was so smooth that it melted in you mouth before you could even swallow it.

Tony had the Strawberry and apple crumble. Fresh Strawberry and apple crumble with vanilla ice cream and fresh cream. He really liked it.

Of course, I had to have the bread pudding. The waiter told us that people come and order the bread pudding for an appetizer so they can eat it all. I totally believe it. It was sooooooo much! I only ate like 1/3 of it! When I poured it out I put the creamy stuff on ½ and the caramel on the other ½. I liked the caramel more by itself, but the cream on the pudding. If that makes sense.

Tony drank the rest of my cream lol.

After dinner we went to the World of Disney, so I could buy my ears. Queue the hat photos!

These are the ears I bought!

Next time we go to the Magic Kingdom! Hope you are all enjoying my TR!
