Can we request to eat alone?

I know from reading various trip reports on here that when its time to eat you are assigned a table and get some table mates that you don't know. You also keep the same table, servers and table mates.

We are doing a 4 night cruise and plan on going to Palo maybe one night and doing brunch one morning.

My question is can we request to sit alone in the main dining rooms, just the two of us?

We don't have kids and my fear is we will end up with table mates that have kids that are not well behaved.

Yes, you can request a private table. In my experience, that request is always granted.

Our first cruise we did not enjoy the tablemates we had, and the next seven cruises we asked to be seated alone and always were.

Just call DCL and put the request on your reservation.

Sure, you can request that you dine alone in the MDRs. However, I think DCL will not pair you up with a family with children. I bet you would be paired with another childless couple.

Yes, just call DCL and put in a request for your own table.

We have asked 4 times and the request has always been met.

Have a great time.

My DH and I travelled alone in March of this year. We were seated at a table with a newlywed couple and a young couple who were expecting their first child. It was a very pleasant experience for sure. Surprisingly, we had lots to talk about.

We bought gifts for each other when we left the ship on excursions and have tons of pictures of the 6 of us together. We even spent Pirate Night together laughing and dancing. It was nice having other friendly faces on board we would run into on occasion.

DH and I were worried at first, but appreciated that Disney put thought into who we sat with. It was a wonderful experience and we were glad we did it :)

How many of us can sit together? Our party (spanning five cabins) will have 10 adults and six children ranging in age from one to ten years old.

The dining managers go out of their way to match up diners. On our honeymoon (sans kids) we were seated with two other couples and had a great time. When we sail with kids we have been placed both with another family that had a kid the same age as my daughter (my son was not born yet) and by ourselves (once as a group of four and once as a larger family group of ten).

So you can make the request, but I would consider allowing them to place you.

Just keep in mind that sitting alone will not keep said children from beating on the table the whole meal in unison with other children and throwing a shoe in your dinner plate. True story! Haha!:thumbsup2

We have done five cruises as just a couple and have never been seated with kids. We have always only been with other adults (once we were seated alone), and we always do second seating. It's unlikely that as two adults alone you will be seated with kids.

You can request to dine alone however that doesn't stop you being seated next to a table with kids.

Been there, done that! On our cruise, we had the most ill behaved children seated next to us I've ever seen. The 2 sets of parents put all the kids on one end of the table, I assume so they could eat in peace. Problem is, we couldn't. At one point one of the kids had his rear end plopped on the end our table, inches away from a dinner plate full of food.

Tables are so close together that it sometimes doesn't matter who's sitting with you if there are badly behaved children ( should I say badly behaved parents!) near you.

DD and I were sat with other mothers and daughters (not that we saw them - they only showed up on the last night dinner).

They go out of there way to sit you with people that are like yourself so you would likely be sat with other childless couples - it's matchmaking Disney style.

We have a party of 6 with 2 older children ( 10, 13). We would not mind being seated with a single parent and a child of a similar age. I think it would be more fun. I have heard tables of 8 are the biggest they have? Should we request that? If it is a bad match, can you request to change the next night?

We've always been matched up with other couples, never with kids. We've always enjoyed meeting people from other places, one of the couples we were seated with on our first cruise actually came to our wedding and we keep in touch with most of them. I'd give it a shot. If there's a problem, you can always request a change later.

That made me laugh!! This is true for any restaurant at Disney, watch out for flying shoes, or food!!

we are a mid 40s couple and ended up seated at an 8 top.. ALL couples no kids at all. had a great time. I think they really do try( and mostly succeed) putting like groups together.

Does a party of 4 generally get their own table, or should I request?

we're a family of 4 and we've requested to be on our own, on an occasion it was quite obvious that they just split an 8 top into 2 4's since the tables now seperated by 2 inches from our table was another family of four with similar aged kids... so yes it was "separate" tables but in close proximity...

If you really want it I would request it

As others have said, you can certainly request a table to yourself, but consider this before you do. From your schedule, it will only be three meals. Disney will almost certainly have you paired with other couples and adult groups. When we went, our family had a 17 yr old "child" and a six yr old. They actually found another family with almost the exact same age spread! That's how much effort they put into their seating arrangement! Wouldn't it be nice to meet and get to know someone new? Of course that's just me. I find other people fascinating.

Have to agree with everyone, OP! My Husband and I don't have any children and we've never been seated with Parents and their Children. We've always been seated with another Couple without Children as well.

We've always enjoyed our table mates, and haven't had a bad pairing yet!

As another poster mentioned up thread, try it! If it's awkward, or uncomfortable, you can always change it.

Bon Voyage! pixiedust:

Whet about requesting booths? We usually have more success with feeding DD4 at a booth, but don't want to shoot ourselves in the foot.
