Will we regret going in June?

We are planning to go in very early June, as soon as school gets out.

DH is a teacher so for him to take time off and take the kids out of school for 2 weeks doesn't really work. Will it be so busy and so hot/humid that it won't be worth it? I've read stories about going during the summer and only being able to go on 3 rides in one day because it's just so busy. To me, that doesn't seem worth it.

BTW, this will be our first WDW trip but we are DL veterans.

Last year we went from June 17-23. It was definitely hot, but bearable. We did rope drop almost every day and spent time in the park til 12 or 1 and headed back to the resort and rested in the AC and went swimming. We then went to dinner and headed back to a park around 5:30-6 and stayed til closing. Also, we had a misting fan and drank lots of water and also enjoyed our time on the rides with AC! It also wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. We did everything we wanted to and more without much of a wait, especially in the mornings after rope drop. I am not sure how it will all work with the new FP+ but I am assuming it will still work out the same. Just take lots of breaks and enjoy your time with each other!

We have gone many times in early June. It is buy but very manageable. It is hot but not as humid as mid - late summer. I try to avoid mid day though.

I'm leaving on Friday and couldn't be more excited. Since we live in FL, we've visited WDW all times of the year, but for some odd reason, I always love late May/early June the most. I don't know if it's the anticipation of the summer to come or the late park hours or the sun or what, but I've gone in June several times and have really enjoyed myself. Yes, it's hot as hell, but with that comes sun and fun late into the night with late park hours (MK is open until 2am this Sunday!) in addition to some great chances to head to the water parks. I've always enjoyed visiting in June!

June is very manageable as long as you rope drop, plan your days, and have a great attitude. We even enjoy the rain!

Going again in nine days! :goodvibes

We did a June trip one time, never again. We are from the Houston area and the heat & humidity is something we deal with way too much. We much prefer they cooler time of year. For us, you have so much more energy in November / December.

We check in June 29 and check out July 7. We've been during July 4th week in the past and love that time of year. The heat and humidity can be managed. Drink lots of water, plan to do indoor attractions during the hottest part of the day... common sense things like that will make it a lot more enjoyable.

We have never had any problems riding everything we wanted on any of our summer trips. We have never been power FP users either.

We usually go the 3rd week of June every year. We love it! It does usually rain during the trip, but that doesn't stop us. You can also use the pools in June, which are great! And actually, last year, it was cooler in Florida that week than it was in North Georgia!

I'm from South Carolina and we look at it a different way. We'll be either hot a miserable at home, or hot and not so miserable at Disney. :goodvibes

But the OP said they have to utilize school break times, and the Christmas holiday times are more crowded than summer!
OP, I'm a teacher too. Since 2000 we have been in June, July, August, right around NYE and spring break. The worst weather-wise was August. But as far as crowds go, if you know what you are getting into and the strategies to deal with it, it can be fine.
We are going back in 20 days. Haven't been in summer since 2007, but the spring breaks have not been lining up. It may be hotter than I remember but I'll buy a mister fan if it bugs me (and try to not spray anyone else). We will be doing a 3 day weekend in October for the first time too, to visit my daughter who will be in the CP. Otherwise I would not take off work time.

I went in July last year. Sweltering heat, crazy crowds, the infamous Brazilian kids, and rain almost every day.

...Loved every second of it.

Of course you won't regret it!

We are thinking about this too for next year. Not too keen on the heat/crowds, but only time off school will work for us too. We were talking today. Thinking of getting hoppers. Going to one park early and riding what we want. Hope to be out of that park by noon. Make FP+ for later in the day at another park, and head there about 5. We think that this may work, anyone else have experience with this way of doing it?

June, July and August is horrid for heat. But do-able. We have school age kids now, and that is the only time we go. It's hot, hot.*hot. We take breaks, if we got grumpy during the day, I think when is the last time we sat down? Find a bench, we have found some grass to sit in. Kids and DH have layer down. I was worried about BUGS. However, pool time is a must for us. So, that's a good down time.

I understand that. But, I think the OP was asking for opinions. My wife is an asst. principal, so we too have to juggle our vacation times. Again, for us the cooler times out way the holiday crowds. Either way, time at Disney is better than time not at Disney. :)

North Carolina boy here ... and I hear you Ralph.

I've done WDW several times in June and while it's hot as blue blazes, it's only slightly hotter than at home. Difference being, I'm not outside all day long at home.

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

And sunscreen/hat/both

I LOVE this attitude! We always say a "bad" day at Disney is better than ANY day at home! ;)

You won't regret it but you will be VERY VERY HOT and it will be crowded. We did an early June trip in 2011 and had a great time, but I am not sure we would choose to go during the hot months again. If it was the only time we could go, then I would do it as opposed to not going.

I AGONIZED over that trip, should we?, shouldn't we? because I can't stand to be hot and humid. I bought every single cooling device known to man - fans, chilly towels, hand held mister, etc. In the end, the best device was the $1 small hand held fan I bought from Walmart!

The MK was bearable because of the in and out of AC attractions. The hottest were HS and the WS at Epcot. I recommend going early at rope drop, then leaving by noon. That was our plan but sometimes we were still there at 1 or 2pm and it was just way too hot. We would swim and take a nap, then head back at night, it was definitely better once the sun was down.

Have a wonderful time! It sounds like you will be there for a long period of time. If so, just pace yourself and enjoy the pools and water parks -- you will not regret going to them, especially if you arrive at opening. Good luck!

We leave on Sunday for our 1st June trip! I hate the heat and crowds but oh well. We are meeting family and the timing just worked out this way. Sounds like there is never a completely un-crowded time nowadays anyway. Positives of June that I am focusing on... Long days with lots of sunlight, typically few refurbishments going on, definitely don't have to pack sweaters and other bulky stuff, great time for pools and water parks... I may feel differently in a week but we love Disney and just always go in with a half glass full mindset!

We went third week of June last year. It was hot and busy but we had a great time. We did RD and went back to resort early afternoon. Then it was back out to another park and dinner in the evening. We hopped. We had some rain in the afternoons. For us Northerners we managed. I don't think you will regret it as long as you have a plan to get out of the Sun in the afternoons. We are going back in three weeks...almost exactly the same time as last year.
