Thanks ! We are excited. The only drawback was all they had was woods view and I can't keep calling bec if was through guest services ( since we made changed related to the construction after promos expired). I hope we can get an upgrade at check in!

Woods view might be very nice, and some people prefer it to Courtyard view. There are lots of nice options for rooms at WL. In your case I'd be glad to save the $ and focus more on requesting your preferred location than the CY view, but it will be fine either way.

What would be a good request? We prefer ground level (second floor) on the same level as the lobby.

. . . . does it really help to call the WL desk a few days before arrival to request a general area for our room? We've been several times and have loved every room they've given us, but this is a special 25th wedding anniversary trip. Online check-in seems to be limited to floor and elevators. I want this visit to be spectacular! Any suggestions? Thank you!

There you go, in that case I'd request 2nd floor, South wing. There are 2nd floor rooms in the North Wing, but they are only accessible from the elevator by Roaring Fork. The South wing 2nd floor rooms are off the hallway that connects right across from the Mercantile to the hall that leads to the buses. The Woods View rooms there are at the West end of the wing, which means they are closer to the lobby. The Woods View rooms there have balconies that face South towards the villas. In the same area courtyard view rooms are just across the hallway. Further down the hall, both sides of the wing are considered courtyard view.

I don't believe calling the resort is a good option for room requests. We always make sure requests (and any celebrations) are noted in our reservation by calling the central reservations office anytime prior to at least 5 days before our arrival. Then the request will be visible to the room assignor (along with any of the limited online checkin requests) when rooms are assigned. I think it would be difficult to actually get ahold of someone at the resort over the phone, and they likely couldn't have an effect on your room location. Good luck and have a great trip.

How is the walk from the parking lot to the rooms? With 2 kiddos & 2 strollers we're thinking it would be easier to just load up the truck rather than waiting on a bus then quickly unloading the kids folding up the strollers and hoping we'll all fit in the bus.

Also how full does the WL parking lot tend to be? from the pictures posted it looks like quite a haul if you have to park in the north 40. Mostly I am hoping everyone flies and we get rock star parking all week long.:lmao:

One adult can go get the car and pick you up at the hotel entrance with the strollers. And parking at WL was great when we traveled in early Aug. The parks were at 6 and 7 out of 10 predicted crowd levels.

However, when you leave the parks (almost always) your car is parked far from the park exit. That requires folding 2 strollers and carrying them on the tram, unloading, walking to car, folding again and then travel in a potentially hot car to your resort. You'll do this coming and going. The exception would be if you are good at arriving well in advance of rope drop and therefore get a space close enough to skip the tram.

Yes, folding a stroller to get on a bus is a hassle, but it might be more trouble to have your car. You can "drive" your stroller onto the MK boat without folding.

Can anybody tell me if there is a photopass photographer in the lobby with the Christmas tree?

We have seen Photopass at the WL in past trips. In early August there were none. Perhaps the holidays are different.

We noted it during online checkin. In the past I have sent a FAX between 5 and 10 days out. This year we had our TA call and add the request instead. In 3 WL stays we have had an upgrade to CY, a standard room request granted (high floor standard view, near RF elevators) and an upgrade to Woods in order to meet our "lobby view, high floor" request for our reserved Standard room. They work very hard to meet requests and have LOTS of CY rooms, so upgrades can be frequent at WL.

We will be there tomorrow! I'm doing the happy dance!

 I hope you have a great trip! :goodvibes

Huh?

There's a floor BELOW the lobby?

I'm confused or I missed something somewhere.

Picture the Wilderness Lodge in five sections. The main lobby building is roughly a big square and the lobby is on the second floor. There are service areas and such underneath it. The rooms in the lobby building are on the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh floor.

The next section would be on the south, near the bus stop, the mercantile, and the exit to the villas building. There are rooms on the 2nd through 7th floor. The next section of building is the south wing and has rooms on the ground floor, which is the 1st floor. The top floor of this section is the 6th floor. Ground floor rooms in this section either face the quiet pool or the main pool, depending on which side of the building you are in.

Then there is a section of building on the north side that has the Territory Lounge and Artist Point on the second floor and Roaring Forks located below Artist Point on the ground floor. Courtyard view guest rooms start on the fourth floor in this section that has the restaurants in it. Woods view rooms start on a lower floor in this section, I think. This section has seven floors.

And then the section of the north wing that is closest to the boat dock has rooms that start on the ground floor (1st floor) and go to the 6th floor.

The place is a bit of a puzzle. ;)

Does anyone know where to find the fast forward button?? We have 17 days until our first trip to DW and it has been creeping by agonizingly slowly for quite some time now! 17 days currently feels like it is about 6 months away and for some reason, we are having trouble feeling excited about it--seems like we were more excited about it when it was 45 days away!

(stomping off to sulk and whine in the corner)

In the end, we decided to keep our ressie at the WL, since we have 5 romos, so it would be complicated to change hotels at the same rate.

Now I am wondering, if we do decide to use the CR pool, is there a place where I can change and shower my daughters?

Because it will be extremely inconvenient if we must leave MK, go to the WL to change, take boat to CR, swim, back to WL to change and then back to MK, that break would take at least twice as much time!

We didn't get a bounce back. Where do you get them? Do they email them to you?

The bounce back offer was in the Be Our Guest folder in your resort room. The folder is a welcome package, full of information about your resort. It most likely was on the desk.

If you haven't left the resort yet and your Be Our Guest packet doesn't have the offer, then you can dial ext 8844 from your room phone to get the latest offer - which is free dining from Aug 20th to Sept 28th, 2015, I think.

If you have already checked out of the resort then it is too late to book the bounce back. :(
