We're staying at WL (club level!) for the first time on the last night of our trip this November.

Are there many club level rooms with king-sized beds? I know I just need to put in a room request and see what happens, but I'm just curious.

Try the first page and click on "Post 14". Bottom of that page.

Not enough posts yet so can't post a link.
Welcome to the thread and the DIS! Thank you for posting where The Mercantile photos are located for the OP. Additionally, within POST 14, I have a hyperlink to new Mercantile photos.

For those new to the thread, everything about WL and VWL that's on the first two pages of the thread is indexed and hyperlinked in POST ONE for easy reference. Resort news and the Lodgers' Log is located in POST TWO.

Congratulations on booking the OFC. There aren't many king rooms in the resort that aren't HA rooms. You have to book a Honeymoon Suite to guarantee a non-HA king CL room. There might be a non-suite CL room with a king that isn't HA so you could request one. But, you might end up with an HA room.

Hi all,
First of all, thank you to everyone that contributes to this thread. I have booked WL for 12/21-12/26. (Surprise for our kids) Not our first visit to WDW or first WDW Christmas but it is the first time we've stayed at WL. I know we saw Santa at BWI but wondered if he would be appearing at WL or has appeared there in the past? Also, do any characters do Meet & Greets in the lobby?
TYIA
Congrats on booking! Santa was in the lobby Christmas Eve last year. I also saw Mickey and Minnie at the GF by the tree posing for photos, but I missed them at WL. You're going to love your first stay at WL!

Hi all! I'm new here but DH, our DD (aka Zazu) and myself will be at WL on Sept 7-9. My first stay on Disney Property, DD's first trip to Disney and hubby's first time at Disney since he was 17 (he's been to WL before). I can't wait! :wizard:
:welcome: to the thread and the DIS! I'll log your dates, too. So many fantastic firsts!

We will be there tomorrow! I'm doing the happy dance!
How was your trip and your room? I hear that it's super hot there right now:crazy2:

All this talk about WDW and the WL at Christmas has me looking at prices and trying to convince DH to spend Christmas there. He has been promising me a Christmas WDW vacation.... And I know we would be there 3 weeks later for a longer vacation, but this would be more of "lets go look at all the pretty decorations at the resorts and parks rather than our typical visit"

I know DH will saw no, but all I can do is ask :)

Thank you! My family of 5 will be at WL 11/29-12/8. Can't wait! Especially excited to see all the Christmas decorations. My mom and her husband will also be joining us at WL for a few nights in the middle of the week.

 I hope you have a great trip! :goodvibes

Picture the Wilderness Lodge in five sections. The main lobby building is roughly a big square and the lobby is on the second floor. There are service areas and such underneath it. The rooms in the lobby building are on the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh floor.

The next section would be on the south, near the bus stop, the mercantile, and the exit to the villas building. There are rooms on the 2nd through 7th floor. The next section of building is the south wing and has rooms on the ground floor, which is the 1st floor. The top floor of this section is the 6th floor. Ground floor rooms in this section either face the quiet pool or the main pool, depending on which side of the building you are in.

Then there is a section of building on the north side that has the Territory Lounge and Artist Point on the second floor and Roaring Forks located below Artist Point on the ground floor. Courtyard view guest rooms start on the fourth floor in this section that has the restaurants in it. Woods view rooms start on a lower floor in this section, I think. This section has seven floors.

And then the section of the north wing that is closest to the boat dock has rooms that start on the ground floor (1st floor) and go to the 6th floor.

The place is a bit of a puzzle. ;)

Okay that helps. So sort of split level. With just the wings having a 'first' floor so to speak.

Thanks.

78 days until our first ever, adult only, no kids or grandkids, birthday stay at WL. Still feeling a little guilty about sneaking off and just a little bummed about the construction. Planning a trip for the grandkids next summer and WDW gave us a less expensive room rate and credit for the construction mess (we didn't plan to use the pool, but the view and noise wasn't worth the courtyard view price), so nothing I can't get over. My friend jumped shipped and took the GF upgrade. Her DH is not a happy camper.

Yep, it is kind of on a hill that slopes down toward Bay Lake, so the ground level in the wings is a full floor below the lobby. There is a big ramp that goes from the lobby to near Roaring Fork, and that is where you go down a floor.

Wood Nymph gave a great description. One thing to add is that on the fourth floor or above everything connects and you can walk down one wing, through the lobby, and down the other wing.

Sounds like a great holiday trip and I'll log your dates in POST 2.

Yes, a split level is a great way to describe it. The split level starts in the North Wing in front of TL and AP and in the South Wing in front of The Mercantile. See photos below.

This is going to be a FUN trip and don't feel guilty or bummed - you're going to Disney World!

First ramp from lobby, past TL and AP to second ramp:

Second ramp down to RF in the North Wing:

Best ways to get to the Poly for a 7:30 breakfast? We usually boat to the CR and then take the monorail but heard the shortened summer schedule for the monorail will extend into September so no early monorail for us. TIA!

If you let the resort know the night before, they may be able to arrange for a van. Otherwise, I'd arrange a cab.

There is an early ADR bus available to resorts and parks. The MK area early ADR bus starts operating around 6:30. EARLY ADR INFO. LOCATED HERE

We always do a breakfast and dinner at Ohana. For us the only choice is to drive since it's pretty much a straight shot. If you don't have a car on site, I would agree that if the resort can't help you out then a cab would be best. Who needs to start the day stressed out trying to get to breakfast.

Since I did not want to pay CP OOP, I cancelled narcossee and booked whispering canyon dinner instead, hopefully it's the right move! I figured since we are staying in WL, we might as well try the restaurant here too. What do you guys think?

Good luck:)

Well we spoke about it over Skype and to be honest I was a little nervous in asking him, since we will be going in January for our long trip.

He was very reluctant at first, and even said pick either December or January.
But, then he relented, to make me happy.

I think I will book it, seeing as it will be Room Only and if I need to cancel I will.

Looking at staying at WL CY from the 21-27 (we will drive down this time and fly in January).

Guess I better get on the phone to a CM and see what we can do! :)

The bounce back offer was in the Be Our Guest folder in your resort room. The folder is a welcome package, full of information about your resort. It most likely was on the desk. If you haven't left the resort yet and your Be Our Guest packet doesn't have the offer, then you can dial ext 8844 from your room phone to get the latest offer - which is free dining from Aug 20th to Sept 28th, 2015, I think. If you have already checked out of the resort then it is too late to book the bounce back. :(

I remember the little folder but there wasn't a bounce back. I just remember the info about magic bands and a map.

I wouldn't be surprised if a prior guest removed the bounce back offer from the packet and the housekeeper didn't replace it.

I hear that park busses from WL to AK or Studios stop at Grand Floridian first. If true, and if it suits your party to walk a bit, you could grab one of those park busses and then walk about 10 minutes over to the Poly.

Well KOOK looks like we need another line added for the Lodger's Log :)

Dec 21-27. We will drive down so we hopefully will leave early enough on Sunday to get in for dinner that evening.

Since this is our first Christmas down there, any suggestions on any special dining?
