Macaroni cheese

Hi,

I am planning my first trip to WDW and wanted advice on the best macaroni cheese available in WDW. It is one of my favourite dishes and not very common in restaurants here in Australia so I like to find it when I am in the USA. I do not however like the easy mac kids meal bright orange style mac n cheese. What I am talking about is the fancy baked sort, e.g. truffled macaroni cheese made with orchiette pasta etc. Any advice? It is hard to tell from the online menus whether there are any great adult macaroni cheese dishes anywhere. Oh and nothing with bacon bits as I don't eat meat.

TIA.

Yachtsman, Shulas and Le Cellier have a side dish that is that type of adult mac & cheese. You can also request one at Jiko.

The Jiko mac and cheese is super good, we always get a side of it when we go there. It's also quite good at wolf gang pucks at DTD if you want quick service.

Chefs de France has good mac and cheese.:)

I have actually made this recipe at home, it is fabulous!

It calls for Gruyere, it is delicious!

only because there are so many other sides I like better BUT I have tried and loved the truffle mac & cheese at Yachtsman Steakhouse and the crab mac & cheese at Shula's. I don't know however, if your being "meatless" would include shellfish.:confused3

I tried this from the QS in Germany last month & thought it was incredible: Nudel Gratin
Baked Macoroni with Cheese Custard
$3.79

It is a side item but very filling! :thumbsup2

The Mac and cheese at the Biergarten was really good, too. I wonder if they are the same

This going to sound strange because I am a mac&cheese snob (I hand grate some of the more expensive cheeses when I make my own at home instead of using the bagged pre-shredded lol) but we had the Cheeseburger Mac & Cheese and the Pot Roast Mac & Cheese from The Friar's Nook in Magic Kingdom and it is by far some of the best mac & cheese Ive ever had. It was so creamy. When we started talking about where/what to eat for our upcoming Christmas trip EVERYONE said mac & cheese from Friar's Nook is a MUST. They told me no lunch ADRs for our MK day as they are having that mac & cheese lol.

It's truly drool worthy.

This isn't a mac n cheese from a signature or a sit down but a little easier to get and very good! The mac n cheese at Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD Marketplace was awesome!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Thanks and yes, I said meatless rather than vegetarian because I generally don't ask if there is animal rennet in the cheese (which is not vego) but I definitely don't eat fish of any sort.

Another thumbs up here for Chefs DeFrance, Cape May Cafe and Wolfgang Pucks express, all super yummy!!!

The leek, fontina, and truffle laced tropie mac and cheese at The Flying Fish is the BEST I ever ate! I always make a point of going there and ordering it.

I wholeheartedly agree! :thumbsup2

I have has mac and cheese all over Disney, fellow vegetarian. I have to say that the Mac at sommerfest in Germany is probably the best I've ever eaten. Jiko is second but it's a distant second.

We tried this for the first time this trip also! Incredible! It was poring rain, and tasted sooo good!. The regular Mac n cheese there was great too, toasty panko bread crumb topping.

Columbia Harbor House in MK has a new lobster mac and cheese that looks pretty good. Haven't tried it yet. We had the mac and cheese at Chefs de France and didn't think it had a ton of flavor :confused3
