Ideas for items to sign

I think it's so wonderful that you can leave an item with front desk for characters to sign! We don't have children of our own, but last year we bought a DCL colouring book at the gift shop and had the characters sign inside for my niece on my husbands side.
Now my brother's wife has just announced she is pregnant! First baby on this side of the family! They are Disney fans but have never been to WDW or anything. I was thinking about getting something signed for the baby, maybe something they can put in the nursery afterward. The thing is by the time of my cruise we won't know the gender of the baby, and probably won't know what theme the nursery will have... So the item should be something that would fit almost anything. I'm stumped! Any suggestions? Have you ever had anything signed for a newborn or memento like that? (If it helps, my brothers favourite character is one we undoubtedly won't get to meet, Louie Ducktale lol)

We have had pillow cases signed and mats from a picture frame. We included all different color sharpie pens for them to sign with. For the mat we then let my son pick his favorite picture from the cruise and put it in the frame with the mat and hang it in his room.

We have done the pillowcase thing before but this last cruise I brought along 2 small dessert plates that I purchased from WDW and dropped off for signatures. I LOVE how they came out. I saw another Diser on here post the same plate in dinner size but when I saw that in the store it was HEAVY so I opted for the dessert size. I requested just the Fab Five sign.

You can find a set of 12 at www.disneyshopping.com but I bought 2 at Downtown Disney. They also have different colors at disney shopping site.

DW likes Tinkerbell. For her birthday (celebrated on the cruise), I got a Tinkerbell tote bag and had it signed. They gave me a choice of princesses or the characters (like on the plates above), I went with the characters. I also included a ziplock bag with an indelible black Sharpie, and a handful of M&M packets as a thank you.

They told me it would be delivered to the cabin, but I asked if I could pick it up as it was a surprise for DW. Somehow the wires got crossed and our steward gave it to DW, thinking she had requested the signatures. I walked up a moment later and saw the very confused looked on both DW and the steward. Oh, well..... I explained to the steward that the bag was for me, and then gave it to DW with a "Happy Birthday". Inside the bag was the Sharpie. DW likes the signed bag so much that she doesn't want to use very often in case she damages it!

I have four of the same plate but in the dinner size that I bought att WDW last year. I plan on bringing them on our B2B in November to have signed. They are heavy tho! I don't usually have much that I carry on so hopefully these won't be too much of a hassle.

Not really for a baby, but both my boys are into baseball. So on both of our disney cruises we took baseball's to get signed. We also dated them.

Picture frame mats from my recent trip came out beautifully. If you are concierge level, u can give to concierge host and they will take care of it for you. I got my items back in three days of a seven day cruise.

We had a wooden letter (H for our last name) signed by the characters and hung it on our living room wall.

I LOVE that!!! And our last name starts with D so that would be really cool - D for Disney and for us! Thanks for the great idea - I'm going to do this our next cruise!

What about one of those stuffed animals you can autograph, like a teddy bear?

MJ, can I ask what type of marker did you use? I LOVE this idea.

Just got off Disney Fantasy Cruise yesterday. Our family bought some inexpensive picture frames, and the charectors signed the mat. It turned out great! And we bought some pics at shutters that we plan to put inside.if you bought too you could get the princesses to sign in pink and the main charectors like Mickey and Pluto to sign in blue on the second one. It would be great to put pics of the baby in.
