Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Hi all!! Been a few years since I've lurked these boards but my hubby just told me that we may be able to head back to Disney next summer and I'd just LOVE to stay at the Yacht Club again! Can't wait to hear all of the latest and greatest going on at my favorite Disney resort! I am still burning a candle that smells like the lobby and we're sparingly using what's left of our shampoos/soaps from the resort ;)

I took the kids to see Inside Out today. I admit, seeing the preview, my expectations were pretty low. But friends saw it and said it was fabulous. It was. I loved the whole thing. It was Aria's first movie in a theatre and she did really, really well. Much better than my middle daughter, who somehow slid into the seat while it was folded up. I thought we'd need the jaws of life to get her out. The fact that we were watching High School Musical 3 made the experience that much more painful. Anyway, the movie is really good. The perfect mix of fun for kids and laughs for parents. Tears, too. I won't give anything away, but at one point my son turned to my oldest daughter and said, "I bet mommy's crying right now." And I was.

Glad you enjoyed it! DS19 and I attempted to see this afternoon and it was sold out 30 minutes before showtime. Next weekend for us!

We saw it too this weekend - loved it! I did shed some tears at a couple of points though! DD4 even loved it! Super happy to have seen it before we get to WDW in 8 days - just in case we see merchandise around the parks (haha ... would you think we wouldn't see merchandise!) DD4 will know what she is looking at (and then want them all!) :-)

We saw it too this weekend and we all loved it. It is a great movie - both the animation and the story are well done.

Going to be at Beach Club villas week before Christmas. All renovations should be completed by then, correct?

1st stay there hopefully not the last.

Thanks

Steve

Also saw Inside Out, don't think it's a little kids movie, very good, but adults will get much more out of it.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1 of this thread.

:woohoo:

Not sure about the timeline on the renovations at the Beach Club villas.

So far, all I have heard about is some work on the lobby flooring and that a couple of mock-up design rooms are in process. I have not had any indication that the actual work has started on the rooms there and we have not heard an official start date. The initially scheduled start in late May did not happen.

:)

Woohoo! They've released the 2016 rates. :cheer2:

They tried to scare me by putting the average for ALL room types on the first page, so I thought my dates around Easter were going to be $1000/night for BC/YC. But once I started clicking individually on the resorts it showed the real prices.

Maybe someone can help me out here...Since the 2016 rates released today I went to go book online for my honeymoon April 11-21. However it already says for standard rooms at BC "This room type is unavailable for the dates, party size or offer selected." Are the standard room really already all booked? I understand Disney is a popular place but to not have a single standard room available 10 months away seems a bit odd. Are we simply out of luck if we want a standard room?

Loving our stay at Beach Club Villas - so close to Epcot, I have forgotten! (5 years is too long!)

Its just too hot... really for me, its too hot! Went down to Hurricane Hannah's for a burger and a Sunken Treasure. Asked the one bartender if he could make me one, and he said, "no" (which is fine) but the other bartender overheard and said, sure, no problem, then he quietly and discreetly told my bartender how to put it together - I just loved that! And yes, I walked my burger and Treasure back to my room!

Our first half of our stay was at WL, CL - and I have to tell you those beds are heads and toes above any bed I've slept in at Disney - seriously, it was soft AND firm - firm enough that dh didn't move when I rolled over (nor when I tried to shake him when he was snoring - the bed didn't move) and yet, it didn't feel firm, nor soft... it was a "JUST RIGHT" bed!! And I miss it here at Beach Club - so if that's what they are doing in refurbing the rooms - then I say - hurry up and get the beds in! It will be so worth it!

My aunt is at the BC and checked in on Saturday. She texted me yesterday and said it is VERY hot. And she usually likes the heat. They usually go in July and have never complained before.

Wohoo.....I can finally be added to the list. We have booked our 2016 vacation :cool1: We will be staying at the BC Mar 12-19. So excited. This will be our first time staying here (we normally stay at POR). We fell in love with the area and being able to walk to Epcot & HS after staying at the Dolphin last year for a conference.

Maybe try calling and talking to a CM. You could try a deluxe studio at BCV. They have that available for your dates (and I think it may be a little cheaper than the standard BC room).

How soon after you book do you receive your confirmation email? I called first thing this morning and wasn't happy with the girl I got, honestly I think I knew more than her.
I am not being a jerk but she had the personality of a rock and I'm not getting a warm and fuzzy that she got my reservation? I got a confirmation number but I also canceled my room only reservation and she said she was transferring the deposit from that to the new reservation? I thought they had to cancel refund and rebook? Has anyone heard of this? I haven't received my confirmation email, I may call back later to be sure she got it right  :(

That was our experience last July. My husband actually got heat exhaustion and he works outside for a living. We live in SC and the whole area has been going through a massive heat wave for the past two weeks. By mid week this week we're supposed to have normal temps around 100 and heat indexes up to 115 (and we're on the coast with ocean breezes!) Tell your aunt to be sure to get electrolytes as well as water. We always use Nuun tablets, and they're fantastic!

I know several of us here are staying on a magical deal in mid-late August. I got an email about a dessert party they're hosting on the 19th in Epcot. I'm thinking of signing up for it. Anyone else interested?

I would've done it but we don't arrive to the world until 8/26.

We did August 2011 and didn't think it was that bad. But if she said it's really hot....then it's REALLY HOT. I will let her know.

I know last August had a horrible heat wave. I'm hoping it's not as horrible this year.

Hi Dee,
I know you added us to the 2016 Be Our Guest List, but if you want to add our dates they are May 21st to May 27, 2016, Yacht Club!! :thanks:

So we have confirmation now that the Beach Club Villas are starting their refurbs? How long do refurbs usually last? I'll be going in April 2016. I'd like to think it would be done by then.
