Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

I have a few questions as I'm getting ready for our trip.

1. Are small bottles of shampoo and conditioner available in the room?

2. If we go to a water park one day, are towels provided or do we need to bring some from home?

3. Does anyone know approximately how much a cab would cost between the BC and Poly? Also, what is the suggested tip amount?

TIA!

1. Yup.
2. They have towels available for rent at the Water Parks. Or we usually stop by the pool and grab some or bring some from our room.
3. About $12-14. For that I would tip $3.

Hey, wonder if anyone can help me with this question. First let me say I am not tech savy. I do not have a "smart" phone (it's about as dumb as I am) and I don't ahve a facebook site or any of those other things. I'm lucky to have access to the internet through IE and I do have a My Disney Experience account. Okay, having said that, is there any way I can sign up to be on a "Disney Blog" where you get updates on what is happeing in the park? I've been trying to book a Behind the Scenes Backstage Magical Tour but the system has not released the date yet (should have happened last week). The CM said I should sign up for the Disney Blog site so that I'll get updates on when the dates have been released. I tried but I was not able to set up my email account to get the information. Has anyone had experience with this site and can you please point me in the proper direction so that I may accomplish this? Much appreciated.
Katesdad.
The CM was likely referring to this site: http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/

I don't know of a way to get notifications sent to your email, but I do have the site bookmarked and check it often.

I will also say that I generally hear about it on the DIS before they ever report it ("it" being most news).

We stayed in one as a pixie dust upgrade a few years back. It was very nice, although not on the same floor as the club lounge. It was right at the corner towards Epcot, by the stairs to the "secret entrance" and had a huge balcony that stretched the length of the room on the woods (Epcot) side. You could easily hear the British band, and occasionally even Off-Kilter.

I'd suggest higher floor as a request, to get as close as possible to the 5th floor where the lounge is, and maybe large balcony?

Thanks. Out of the choices to pick from higher floor and large balcony were the two that made the most sense.

Sage advice here folks. Remember, just because you are at the happiest place in the world doesn't make it any less safer from those who like to gain their happiness at your expense. Please be careful out there with your valuables. I don't want to be reading any reports from my friends here on this thresd about items being "lost" while unattended.
Katesdad
I am usually pretty careful with valuables but have found myself being very cavalier at SAB. Not sure why, maybe it's those sunken treasures or some such. Knock on wood we have never had an issue.

Finally made it to our new home. The last two months have been a whirlwind with DD's prom, high school graduation :woohoo:, final college decisions, etc. We are here now-3 nights into an. 11 night trip-moving from studio to one bedroom today. Thanks Dee see we are on guest list. Will try to make some live reports. We came down this trip with no fast passes, no ADRs and no plans whatsoever. Thinking this might end up being the best Disney trip in a while.

Beaches and Cream still allowing take out Sundaes and shakes. We grabbed a dinner reservation there the night we arrived and our waitress told us if you ask nocely and they aren't busy they will do the specialty sundaes like the grilled banana bread one as well. DH and I did grab lunch at the counter yesterday with no ADR and a wait of about 10 mins.

I'm doing FP+ & on-line check-in tonight. Location isn't our top priority but a full balcony would be nice & a daybed essential.

I know that it is possible for a party of 5 to be booked in a room without a daybed & given a rollaway, but does anyone think that listing it as a request will increase our chances (it's pretty much they have one available when we check in or they don't).

I'd kind of like to keep our requests at just 'full balcony' thinking that maybe if we have only one that it will be fulfilled. I might be overthinking a bit, but both our online requests & a fax went ignored at POR in March & I'd like to up our chances!

Looks like I am late with this reply, but I think you are correct about the daybed. Families of 5 have priority for rooms with a daybed, so if there is one available when you checkin, you should get it. I don't know if specifically requesting it, when you have a family of 5, gives you a better chance or not.

:)

Hi all!! Been a few years since I've lurked these boards but my hubby just told me that we may be able to head back to Disney next summer and I'd just LOVE to stay at the Yacht Club again! Can't wait to hear all of the latest and greatest going on at my favorite Disney resort! I am still burning a candle that smells like the lobby and we're sparingly using what's left of our shampoos/soaps from the resort ;)

:welcome: back here!

Well, the big Yacht Club news is that renovations will start after the Beach Club refurb finishes. Don't know exactly when that will happen- possibly Fall 2015-???

:thumbsup2

Wohoo.....I can finally be added to the list. We have booked our 2016 vacation :cool1: We will be staying at the BC Mar 12-19. So excited. This will be our first time staying here (we normally stay at POR). We fell in love with the area and being able to walk to Epcot & HS after staying at the Dolphin last year for a conference.

:welcome:

Happy to add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Hi Dee,
I know you added us to the 2016 Be Our Guest List, but if you want to add our dates they are May 21st to May 27, 2016, Yacht Club!! :thanks:

Will do!

:woohoo:

Well folks, tomorrow night my DW and DS head to the airport hotel for an overnight ahead of a 4am rise for our first flight leg at 06:30.

Thursday afternoon we will finally be back in WDW for the first time since 2012.

Thanks to everyone on hear for great information and some entertaining topics.

If anyone is interested in pics of the YC and surrounding area I'll be happy to post them while Im there.

Cheers all !

J

Hope you have a fabulous trip!

Alright, it's official! I have booked a split stay during Easter at POR (3 nights) and BC (3 nights) from March 24-30, 2016. :cool1:

It saved $350 (off rack rates) to do the split stay for a total of 6 nights than to just do 5 nights at BC. Easter's not cheap! But I was able to add the Deluxe dining plan for the first half only, which will give us 1 day into our BC stay to use lots of table and snack credits. Woohoo!

Dee, please change our stay from Dec (original plan cancelled) and change it to the new dates. :)

Hi everyone!! We are staying at the Beach Club August 22-29th. It's myself and hubby and our 3 boys. I'm super excited!! This is our second trip to WDW. We stayed at POR in Feb 2014. I've been a lurker on the boards since planning for that trip :) I just wanted to say hello! Getting ready to really dig into this awesome thread :)

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:cool2:

Please let us know if you have any questions, but a good start to introducing yourself to the resorts is to check out Post 13 (FAQ) and Post 14 (Other Useful Info) on Page 1 of this thread

:thumbsup2

Of course!! Except if you are me, and wait until the very last minute. I like to refer to myself as a packcrastinator ;)

Great word!!!

:rotfl:

Ok we did it book for Beach club woods/garden view from January 5th-11th! First stay at a deluxe can't wait! I will be there for marathon weekend events. Any tips on anything at the resorts during that time? Do a lot of runners stay here? We stayed at POR for marathon weekend last year and am interested to see how it compares.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Gust list on Page 1, but I'll leave it for others to help you with any marathon weekend tips.

:cheer2:

Hi all! I am scheduled to check into Yacht Club on 9/13, but I am a little concerned about the possibility of construction. I can move us to Boardwalk, something that wouldn't be too big a hassle for us. Any thoughts on if I should consider this? If they have just started renos on the BC villas, is it possible they won't have moved over to YC by Sept? TIA!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:woohoo:

I believe somebody answered this for you, but here is my take. We haven't been given an official start date for the YC renovation, just that it will happen after the BC refurb is complete. Possibly sometime this fall, but I won't trust any estimates until the work actually starts. If you are not staying club level (5th floor) for your September trip, I doubt there would be any impact to you at all.

:)

My last 10 trips, I've stayed at the Boardwalk. For my upcoming trip, in early December, I couldn't get a room at the Boardwalk so I booked a club level room at the Yacht Club. How concerned should I be about the construction? I was at the Boardwalk during their last renovation and it wasn't pretty but I can't say that the noise really affected me being that I wasn't in my room during the day.

:welcome:

I don't have you on the Be Our Guest list, so I will add you.

:cool1:

See my reply to snowwhite84, but your situation is a little harder to predict. The work on the rooms (and perhaps the club level lounge) will be the first step in the renovations at the YC. Depending on when the work actually starts, it could still be going on in December. We should have a better handle on the actual start date sometime this fall.

:)

Walked back from International Gateway. Scuttled in the back door to BCV - and that last stretch, where BC rooms on the right and BCV on the left.... smokers benches in front...

distinct hammering heard.

Tried to take a picture, but the phone won't peer inside. I saw a painter and I saw a bed with plastic wrap on it.... and hammering.
It was 2nd floor rooms there were 3 windows on that pathway, and the corner room/area that faces Epcot is where I heard hammering

Its 5:00 pm FL time June 23

Thanks so much for posting this info. I continue to be curious about whether this marks the start of the room renovations or whether they are still working on mock-up rooms to determine the final room design.

There are free (large) lockers on the poolside near Beaches & Cream.

Chris from Disney Itinerary Planning Office informs me that there are cups, plates, and figurines with the only Disney characters being Snow White and Ariel. Prices run between $5-$25 dollars. This is the ceramics class at Sandcastle Club on Wednesday's from 2:30PM-3:30PM. Then they fire them to set the paint; and, we pick them up 2-3 days later.

The time he gave me is different from the published times on the monthly activities flyer.

Hi , well I am at the Beach Club now , as usual everything is wonderful. Had a long visit with Teena on Monday and other then being tired from her trip she looks great.
What I really wanted to say was people it's hot now please remember to stay hydrated even by the pool , a young girl passed out at the pool from the heat on Tuesday , also the cement the cement is very hot if you take your sandles to the pool edge flip them over . You may also want to leave them under your chairs , seen a lot of burned feet in the past couple of days.

Thanks for that info. I wonder if anyone has done this.

We did the ceramics while at the BC last week. My daughter painted a jewelry box type thing. It had a dolphin on the top. We did it around 2:30 on Wednesday and it was available for pick-up after 5 on Thursday. (The oven is at the Boardwalk so they take it over there to set the paint) Her jewelry box was $14.00 plus tax. She really enjoyed it and I think that is her favorite souvenir from the trip. ( and she spent her birthday money on plenty of things)

First time posting on this thread. Before our stay at YC 6/8-6/15 I found this thread so helpful for our planning, I thought I'd share some pictures from our stay.

I have not seen this letter posted yet in reference to YC. We were in Room 3150, and received this letter under our door a few days into our stay:

We heard no noise, and the only extra cleaning we saw was workers polishing the elevator doors for a couple of days. We were in the room a few times during the afternoons for a rest, so not sure what the construction could have been?

I will post our room view, which was fabulous!! Garden view--wedding gazebo view. We did online check in, and had asked for upper floor, close to elevators. We did stop at the front desk at check in, so maybe that was how we got lucky with the view. Could see the lagoon and Boardwalk looking to our left. :lovestruc
Have to upload those pictures to photobucket first. Hopefully later today.

We've been using uber with great success. You set up a uber account on a PC, then use the ap. Tip is included, you have a cc# on file, so it's just the ride. If you go to the transportation forum here on the dis, search uber for lots more info

What destinations did you go to using Uber? Can you get past the resort parking lot gates? Can you get past the park parking lot gates?

AWESOME! So, I just switched my Wednesday to Blizzard/ceramics/Animal/Cape May Café with options for Boardwalk, Downtown, Magic, or downtime later. We can't fill 8AM-1PM with Animal, it is about 2 hours too much. And then 3-6 at Blizzard would not be enough. We want to have plenty of time at the water park - well the kids do. I pushed my ADR to 7:50PM because animal is open until 7 as of today. This was based on confirmation of Disney character figurines - but who knows what the team will pick to paint.

Can adults participate? Do you have any pictures?
