Cabana on last morning

on the last morning what is cabana's breakfast like? Same as every morning or just continental?
TIA :)

Much better than the MDR in our opinion. The selection is not as extensive as other mornings, but there is still a decent selection.

We were pretty disappointed in cabanas the last morning - we switched back to going to the main dining room our last cruise.

We like the food offering/variety on regular mornings. It felt like they pretty much only had scrambled eggs, and a couple of meats. I know there was more than that, but none of the "different" breakfast items were there.

We MUCH prefer Cabanas on the last morning than the MDR's....we feel the MDR is much too rushed the last morning and the food cold. We like to to up to Cabana's early and eat and then head back to our cabin before 8:00 am to grab our carry ons and then leave the ship.

Agree, the food was good, I stuck around a bit as our last disembarkation was Andover, an hour from home, and about 25-% of tables were being used, it was relaxed and a great way to say goodbye to our wonderful servers.

I have to disagree this was not our experience at all, I finally got after 12 nights in a cruise, actual hit toast that butter would melt on, we were not rushed, in fact I took my time had extra coffees etc, the Route 66 was served hot and promptly and the only breakfast I had that was hot apart from that was our character breakfast. Cabanas was limited we had a look before going to our room to collect our carry offs.

Again what one of us experiences, another may not. We have consistently had good breakfasts up in Cabanas on the last morning. Granted I don't do toast onboard as I prefer to have things I don't normally make at home like hash, bacon, eggs, etc.

We have had several not so great breakfasts in the MDR's on the last morning with rushed service, cold food, etc. Everyone's experiences can be different from cruise to cruise as well.

Hey, I am not trying to convince anyone of anything, just offering my experiences. YMMV (your mileage may vary).

Agree everyone's expectations and experience does differ, but our last disembarkation breakfast was joint best if 12 night cruise only matched by the character breakfast, to the readers here they need to read and see that the MDR for yes was hot and prompt and relaxed, so not to put them off considering it.

To add, it's a very nice send off for your servers , I feel disrespectful myself not saying goodbye to them for one last meal, ours were very jolly last morning and pleased to see us one last time.

Again that was YOUR experience. That is not to say to the readers here that they will have the exact same experience that you had at the last MDR breakfast.

Our first 20 cruises were in the MDR on the last morning and it always felt stiff and rushed. We prefer to say our goodbyes to our serving team the night before (at the last dinner) when everyone is relaxed! No right or wrong way.

Some of my 'past' cruises the disembarkation breakfast 'was' a bit 'stiff' as you say, never rushed but surly, business like.

But things do change, - you may have noted, ( or not) I started, 'agree' but you do come back in a way which seems quite aggressive with the capitals 'YOUR' no need for that.

- Again I started off, 'agree'-

But I cant change my experience. They have updated it, it was good, it was hot, we had 45 minutes, not rushed, I could stay as long as I wanted as we live an hour from port. So it was different to your description when you said you actually used Cabanas, so I am not sure of your up to date experience.

Yes you have had 33 DCL cruises, but I can only report the 'truth' our breakfast was hot prompt, not stiff, it was good, and that and the character breakfast far better than 9 Cabanas and 1 room service breakfast.

Not meant to be aggressive at all and never doubted you had that experience or said you had to change it (sorry if my post came off that way...was not my intention). Just emphasizing that your wonderful experience with hot food at the breakfast the last morning is not guaranteed to be exactly the same as everyone else going forward. Just like my Cabana's experience won't be the same for everyone going forward. Your are correct that I have not eaten last breakfast in an MDR in a few years. Maybe we will try it again in the future but Cabanas works great for us so who knows. I also do not like dragging my carry ons to the MDR. Leaving our bags in our cabin until just before 8:00 am when we return from breakfast is perfect for us (we always do late dining).

we did two sailings before i realized we didn't have to go to the mdr for our last breakfast and finding that out was a relief to say the least. we always take first seating and that meant that we were expected to be for breakfast at 6:45, and to be there for that hour we needed to be up by 6. Thats a tad early for me. the first time we did this we didn't even have our regular wait staff because they had to present their selves with their passport for customs. we did have our regular wait staff the second time. for us the experience was not great. the food was just okay.

then, magically, we found that cabanas was open for breakfast on the last morning. only one side but it had just about everything we wanted. we were able to sleep till 7, take a shower, grab some breakfast and eat in peace. then we are able to go back to our cabin and grab our carry ons and be off the ship for 8:30. we're not locked into a times table, we go when we want. also, since half the ship is dinning some where else, its not that busy.

as to tipping and saying goodbye, that we do on our last night so i don't see the need to do it again. i know the wait staff have to do a turn around as well as the room hosts, they need to get ready for a whole new sailing so i'm sure they don't mind.

to each their own however i will have a last breakfast when i am ready, not when dcl is ready.

We love Cabanas too on the last morning, it's not busy, we can eat at our own pace and slowly mope off the ship lol.

:sunny:I have to admit, I have never even tried Cabanas on the last morning mainly because I like seeing our servers one last time and I like the menu selections at the MDR. Route 66 is a favorite.
On every cruise but our last one this past April/May, we have enjoyed our servers and really felt special to them.

However, this past cruise our servers ,and this includes the head server, were disappointing at best. I felt bad that I had already filled out and turned in our survey because I would have changed their score from a 4 to a 3. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't just the last morning of service, but the whole cruise I got the feeling that the Server and Asst. Server did not like each other very much and they definitely did not work well together.
We missed 2 of our meals in the MDR of the evening and chose to eat elsewhere because they were just not that great.
They were rushed, stressed out and seemed to be rather forgetful with our table. Little things that we have become used to in the way of service, remembering what the kids and I liked to drink, favorite desserts etc. by the second night, were not even apparent by the 4th on this cruise. They would constantly repeat themselves about the dining rotation and other things even though we were on our 5th cruise and and it was obviously not our first rodeo. I kept hoping that if we told them enough times that they could relax and if we needed anything we would tell them, but it never happened. There was no easy feeling and no warm fuzzies...just a businesslike feel like we were just another gratuity waiting to happen.

Sorry, back to last morning. We had a nice breakfast, and were getting up to leave when the head server came over. Granted, we saw him 2 times out of a 7 day cruise, but I guess he wanted to say goodbye. But that didn't work out as his phone rang and he turned his back on us to talk to whoever was on the phone. At that point I wanted a NEW survey to fill out. But we left and hoped that we never had them as a serving team again.

Evidently, Disney DOES read the surveys as they contacted my husband after the cruise to ask about the score of 4 on servers when all other scores were a 5. He explained what happened there and that we were really surprised by that type of experience.
Anyway, those are my 2 cents plus a few extra for good measure.
I like the MDR but might try Cabanas depending on the way service goes the next trip.

I couldn't agree with you more, my experience is the same.

I can only think it may be to do with tipping. If you get poor service in the MDR last morning, did they tip correct? That's a logical explanation and why some may prefer to go to Cabanas to avoid their servers????
