A few more pictures to share...

We had a towel animal most nights, and always something cute with the kids' stuffed animals. One day Mousekeeping lined up our shoes in a neat row and my boys thought that was the coolest thing (ahem, not so much shoe organizing at home I guess).

The daybed was perfect for our 5-year-old:

And one of Olaf, because #FrozenSummerFun :lovestruc

Hi, did you ask for the daybed to be made up or did you just get extra linens and do it yourself? I am also planning on putting my 5 year old on the day bed.

We mentioned that we needed it made up at the Concierge desk when we first got there, which was around 7:30-8pm so pretty late for Mousekeeping. They said they would send someone to fix it up for us, but they never came so my DH ended up just flipping over the bed himself; it was already made up with sheets. We pulled a pillow off one of the beds and a blanket from the closet - it was all very easy to do by ourselves. Once Mousekeeping saw that we had it out and in use they made it up for us every day.

One last note about our trip. Our first room had some mold in the bathroom. Yikes! We checked in so late, and by the time we noticed it, the kids were sleeping. So, our first day plans were interrupted because we had to pack up our things and store them with bell service so our room could be changed. The CM's were very nice, and didn't give us a problem when we requested a room change. It was just a pain in the butt having to alter our plans.

Oh no! That is awful! Makes me wonder how a condition like that ever passed someone's inspection?!?! IMO mold is not something that can be ignored; my husband slept 3 nights in a house with a moldy basement and he was bad sick (symptoms like severe allergies) for weeks. Not something you want to take home from vacation. Glad they fixed you up with a new room!

Youngest DS had a mold allergy when he was younger combined with asthma, not a good combo. My sisters basement was a bit "moldy" and he begged to go down there occasionally to play ping pong. Sure enough, he would be down there 5 minutes and he started coughing...Had to "pull him" right back upstairs, much to his disappointment!:sad2: Mold is VERY UNHEALTHY and hopefully that room will be repaired and "de molded"!:scared1:

Our daybed was already made up as well. We flipped it over ourselves but once we did the sheets were already set up. There was an extra pillow and warm blanket in the closet too. And there was a second bag with bedding in it but I'm not sure exactly what because we never needed it so I never opened the bag. It was very convenient and both my kids could have easily fit on it (ages 3 & 5) but they wanted to sleep with mommy & daddy instead. :)

I am really torn between requesting Aotearoa or Rarotonga for our end of October trip. Online check in is available now that I'm passed 60 days out but I haven't done it yet b/c I don't want to request something and change my mind. I see a lot of pics of there being work done on the outside of the long houses. I know I have seen pics of Hawaii, Samoa, Figi, Tuvalu and I think Tonga having been worked on, so I think those are mostly completed. Which makes me concerned that Rarotonga and Aotearoa are still coming up. I think we will use the boat to MK a few times and Aotearoa looks closer to that but we will also be walking to the TTC at least 2 times to go to EP. I also don't want to risk requesting Rarotonga and get put on the side facing the east pool construction. Any thoughts? Also, can I just do online check in like a few days before or a week before once it's closer to the date so I can see what construction is going on at that time? Or is there any reason to do it this far out? I can't imagine they assign a room more than a few days out anyways. I am also using the touringplans room fax option which I think gets sent in 5 days before. Any opinions appreciated.

If you're booked in a standard view room, I'd recommend Tuvalu. It's the other side of the marina to the boat dock, there's a gate on the marina to enter the main pool area and it took me just about 5 minutes to walk from there to the Monorail platform in the GCH. We also walked to the TTC to take the monorail to Epcot and it took just over 10 minutes to get to the monorail walkway. But you have to take the right choice of pathways to get the optimum route. Bear in mind we were on the top floor of the building too and used the elevator as we had a stroller. Then main benefit is you're guaranteed no view of the small pool construction.

Tikiman posted on his FB page that Disney put in something like 6 new construction permits for exterior work at the Poly and mentioned not taking for granted that the recently worked on buildings were really done. No date was given to start and it didn't mention specifically what the work was.

My plan is Fiji since it has pretty views and is away from construction. If I learn it is to be worked on plan B goes into effect. I also want to be close to the GCH as I will eat breakfast there and then head toward the monorail, bus, etc to get to parks. So for me, it doesn't matter where my longhouse is in terms of TTC or whatever because I won't be leaving from my room.

1 more week for me :) I requested 3rd Fl Rarotonga. I like being close to the parking area and GHC. Im sure the construction wont bother me..my worry is the weather. Fingers crossed its not raining on the 15th, which is when we are going to MNSSHP.

I have to make it through this long weekend and a couple of days of work, then Im off to the Poly for 10 nights :) I also have to keep this secret 6 more nights :) DD doesnt know we are going :)

We checked in yesterday around 5:00. We have never stayed here but I've been coming here to walk around and for meals since I was little. My random thoughts and observations so far :

-checkin went smoothly, except they had the wrong address and phone on file for me, which seems to happen a lot and I am constantly updating it when I do online check in.
-we got aeoteora first floor which was one of the buildings I requested. I initially wanted Samoa first floor facing the pool but after walking by last night, I think that may have been too loud. We are facing the monorail but my son likes it and the kids can actually run around off the patio which they could not do if we were on the north facing side, since those patios are blocked by foliage.
- The small beach over by Fiji is very nice and quiet and has a great view of the GF.
- I am liking the view from Fiji though and may request that in the future.
- Love the size of the room and style! Love the bathroom tiles.
- I noticed the room was a little dusty and some of the furniture a little banged up which is surprising for how pricey it is here. When we stayed at Beach Club I did not notice the wear and tear. But maybe the Poly was redone a while ago?? Not sure if also I am being more critical/ looking for things since reading these threads? Who knows if I would have noticed otherwise?
-Had my first Lapu Lapu last night! It was really sweet for the first couple of sips and then my next was like straight alcohol so I made sure to keep stirring it! I am a lightweight with liquor and never really know how it will hit me so I took it nice and slow and drank it throughout dinner. But I liked it!
-We had an ADR at Ohana for 6:55, waited about 7 minutes before we were seated. We hadn't eaten here for dinner in about 10 years. I thought it was better 10 years ago. I was trying to be positive but my husband who is very positive and rarely complains about anything but especially food agreed with all my thoughts:
Bread- good flavor but dry
Salad-ok, I liked it better than he did
Potstickers and wings - yummy!
Noodles-good but dry
Veggies- yuck
Chicken- mine was ok but very charred around edges, like very charred and DH hit some fatty pieces.
Shrimp- good!!!
Steak- neither one of us liked this mainly because of the flavor-a weird marinade or something.
Bread pudding- Delish!!!!

The meal was also pretty slow, it started out ok but after the shrimp it really slowed down and we waited forever for steak and then for the plates to be cleared and dessert. My DH also thought it was weird because our food runner basically like threw the plates at us and grunted when he brought them. I get that he may be in a hurry but it was like he really was throwing it at us. Weird!

We ended up just going back to the room after dinner because my 4 year old was a monster since he woke up before 6 am and had no nap!
We have some pool time later today so I'll check back later with any new thoughts! Hoping for a great weekend here!

Thanks for the post. I would love to hear how you end up liking this room and area of the resort since Aotearoa ground floor monorail side is what I will likely be requesting. Ground floor figi facing the GF looks nice in pics too but they have fewer queen rooms on the ground floor so I am afraid if I request figi I could get stuck on 2nd floor which would be bad with no patio or balcony. Have a great trip and can't wait to read more about it!

The rooms at the Poly were actually not done that long ago. I think it was spring/summer 2013. The wear and tear on the furniture is likely because of the popularity/busy nature of the resort (high volume of guests coming through) No excuse for dust though!

Hope you have a great rest of your stay!

It also looked like a kindergartener caulked that toilet!

What is everyone's recs for Captain Cooks for lunch? I know about the adult grilled cheese but it's packed and I'm afraid it will take forever for something not on the menu.

So far, we like it! Pretty quiet as you can't hear the luau on this side and with the doors closed cannot hear the monorail. I was upset at first because I had wanted north facing, but after walking around I'm glad we got monorail facing because the other side you cannot get off your patio because the foliage is blocking it there.

If you aren't starving I recommend the kid's pineapple and chicken skewers. It was tasty and not too heavy, and by that point I was hot and didn't want a heavy meal.
