Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Mi*Vida*loca*..Thanks for your comments on both resorts; GLAD that you had a GREAT TIME!:cheer2:VERY HELPFUL to me as we have a split stay in October coming up for F&W! Can't wait to try the Sunken Treasure that has been mentioned on the boards; sounds great!:drinking1 Hmmm..curious, why do you think Poly pool felt cooler? I "would" have thought that SAB would be cooler as the pool seems larger! :confused3:wave:

First, to Teena I'm so sorry about your husband. I'm a pretty frequent follower of this thread so I know how helpful and friendly you are and am sending you and your girls well wishes and prayers:grouphug:

Just wanted to share a few thoughts from our August trip. We had a split stay where we transferred to the Poly for a few nights and then added another 3 nights to the end at AKL Kidani. I had really looked forward to our stay at the Poly since it was my childhood favorite and for the last few years we had looked at staying there. The cost was always a little bit too much more than BC so BC won out, but this year we decided to split stay and try the Poly out. I don't think we'll be back anytime soon. The BC is our home and I hope it never looses the magical feel we get when we're there. AKL is another amazing resort. We all agreed that we would stay there again and definitely over the Poly, but BC is without a doubt our #1 choice. We love it! Sad to be home, but already planning our 2016 trip to BC!:hyper:

Phew!!! Caught up for now (my house, of course, is a disaster, but oh well)

I'll update the Be Our Guest list in a few minutes.

:goodvibes:

I had made a last minute decision to change our trip last weekend from 3 nights at POR to two nights POR and one night YC

Thank you for the review and great pictures. When I get a chance I will add the pictures to the YC room view/description thread.

:thumbsup2

I just returned last night from 7 days at the Beach Club and wanted to provide a mini-review/report here.

*snip*

Loved your review and the great pictures. Your family picture by the BC back entrance is fantastic! Is it ok if I add a link to your post in the Trip Report/Review section on Page 1 of this thread?

:goodvibes:

Omg it is over! The trip with my SIL and 5 nieces/nephews, brother, hubby and dad is winding down. So, the BC is amazing, room, amazing, location...amazing. Pool...guess....amazing!

*snip*

Thank you all for your well wishes, cheers and support. The likes to my posts made my day better...hugs all around!

A real rollercoaster of a trip for you! Thanks for sharing all you were going through. Hoping it brought you some sanity to share your trials (and a couple of triumphs) with us!

Hi Everyone, love reading the trip reports!
Even though we just returned a week and a half ago from our amazing family BC/WDW summer trip in our fabulous room, I am returning to the Beach Club next Tuesday for a work conference at the Swan - but I am kidnapping the other girls I work with and making them stay at the Beach Club! I am sure the Swan/Dolphin are both just lovely, have stayed Dolphin in the past - but just can't do it with my "home" so close by and an awesome magical deal to boot! I am arriving next Tuesday, but my friends are checking out next Friday, so I have extended my trip and will be having some solo time for three nights! It's kind of been a dream of mine, does that sound crazy?? Love begin there with my hubby and kids after so many trips together over the years, but really looking forward to just taking it easy and doing what I feel like....

So....any suggestions or tips for any of you YC/BC lovers who have ever taken a solo trip? I have an AP and have absolutely no problem being there alone - especially at Disney, in a place I know so well.

Teena, glad to see you posting...hope you are hanging in there.
-Linda

:welcome: back.

I'll sneak you onto the BOG list.

At AK, watching the gorilla family along the Pangini trail....the two baby gorillas were playing, wrestling, climbing and having fun. The guest next to us asked the CM if the babies were twins. The CM replied, "No, they are about a month apart." The Guest looked really confused, then asked.....wait for it...."so, do they have the same mom or different moms?"

Your story brought me back to my commuting day when I rode in a 15 person Carivan for Commuters. One woman was discussing her twin teenagers, a boy and a girl. "Are they identical?" one of our fellow travelers asked.

:sad2:

I am not long back from a stay at the Beach Club Villas and while I love just about everything the resort has to offer there were a couple of things that REALLY annoyed me - both related to Stormalong Bay.
First one was the lack of sunbeds - we were there mid-august and if we were not at the pool before 11am then finding a free sunbed (or even a chair) was just about impossible. Why are there so few sunbeds?
There were acres of open space so plenty of room for more but it seems like the powers that be just don't want people to use the pool. I would be surprised if it was a safety/capacity issue as when we stayed at universal's Royal Pacific Resort on the same trip there was a much higher density of sunbeds and they were right up to the pool side.
Secondly, no sunshades apart from the ones attached to tables. So, if you can find a sunbed then prepare to be roasted!
We actually ended up outside the pool area under a couple of palm trees on the beach!
Is this a ploy to make people leave the pool area and go spend money in the parks/shops?
Honestly, it's the one issue that puts me off going back (and this from a BCV owner)
(Rant over:o)

Thanks for sharing your frustration about the lack of shade and the availability of the loungers.

One of the frequent complaints we get about SAB is dealing with chair hogs. Yes, if you are at the pool, you have every right to put down a towel, a book, sandals and what not and go in for a dip. But the problem is that some people will go into SAB, grab a few chairs in a desirable location and take off to do something else. Then, that causes others to feel that the only chance they have to get a chair is to get there early and do the same thing.

:furious:

My trips have always been in summer and I have always been able to find one or two chairs, even in the middle of the afternoon. But it hasn't been easy.

The one place I have always been able to find empty seats (chairs, not sunbeds or loungers) is in the area in the middle of the lazy river. You have to cross over two bridges to get there, but even in the busiest of times, when I have floated by, I have seen available seats.

My other go-to place (and it is shaded) is the covered gazebo area just above Hurricane Hanna's. Lots of stairs to get there, but there are loungers and tables out of the sun. Because it is a bit of a climb from the pool, the chairs are

Just returned from a 10 night trip (5 at Poly/5 at YC) that was incredible. Although we loved both resorts, we fell head-over-heels for the Yacht Club! It is so beautiful!!!! Loved the rooms, love the lobby, gorgeous hallways, awesome store (Fittings and Fairings), etc, etc. The location couldn't be beat and both Storm-Along-Bay and the quiet pool (loved doing laundry while sitting the pool/jacuzzi!) were incredible. We had a standard view booked and I fully expected a bad view (especially after having in incredible marina view w/a balcony at the Poly) but we were on the 4th floor in the dead center of the resort and had a huge (shared) balcony and a great view of Wishes from our beds. Close to the elevators, pools, etc. I'll post pics later but just had to share my love here!

Glad to hear that!!!

Did you by any chance drink the Kool-aid (or maybe a Sunken Treasure?)

I look forward to seeing your pictures.

:cool1:

We got back Saturday from our trip. We were at the Poly for 5 nights followed by the BC for 5 nights.

Thank you for your reviews of your stays at the Beach Club and the Poly. I am one of the many here who watched the issues with your arrival with sadness!

Glad that the trip eventually turned around for your!

:goodvibes:

Hi everyone! I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone on this thread!! I obsessed over your pictures and posts before our trip. We stayed at BC Aug 22-29, and it was amazing and perfect!! I am so in love with this resort! I want to live there! We were given room 4626, standard view. It had a daybed and a balcony with table and chairs. Our view was partial rooftop and partial courtyard, which was wonderful for a standard. So nice to sit outside and drink my coffee every morning. I loved the newly refurbished room and we all loved Storm Along Bay so much!! The walk into Epcot was incredible! THANK YOU so much for this thread!! Another die hard Beach Club fan has been created :)

Always glad when we have a new convert!!!

:thumbsup2

staying at the BC May and June 2016. Please add to BOG listprincess:

Will do!

::yes::

Just got back on Saturday after a fabulous 8 night stay and all I can say is that BC has completely ruined us for all other resorts! We've stayed about a half a dozen times at Swan/Dolphin, so we knew that we'd love the Epcot area location, but had no idea how amazing and beautiful BC would be. We booked a magical deal, so hopefully will be able to have a repeat trip next year. We've visited WDW about 12+ times in the past decade and this was easily my favorite trip yet - everything went off without a hitch (well, except for my not realizing that there was no bus to DTD directly from DAK, which resulted in our being late for our Raglan Road reservation... but even that snafu all ended well). Now I'm suffering from terrible PDD (post Disney depression)... so off to plan for next year!

So happy to hear you had a great trip!

:woohoo:

Hi
Just got back on Sunday from a 9 day stay at BCV. Thanks to this thread I finally figured out the "secret" walkway to the villas and knew to try the sunken treasure yummy!

We stayed in BCV 1 Bdroom #236 it had a double balcony :) and overlooked the villa pool. Nice room and location (they do need to start those updates though).
They were doing some paint touch ups around the villa lobby.
Last time we were there they had the marketplace open for drink station (with mugs only) at 630 am with the full market opening at 7. I must have missed that they stopped the early drink station with just 7am ugh! needed coffee before heading on bus for EMH!

The water was just colder. I heard someone else mention it at BC and they were very surprised that Poly was cooler since SAB is so much larger.

I would get in the watr for a few minutes and then get back out. I would literally have goosebumps all over me and I like the cold! It was just uncomfortable for me. But there were tons of kids who loved it!

The temperature of SAB's pool was perfect. It felt so refreshing.

So, if you cannot use basically anything to reserve a sun lounger what are you supposed to do with your stuff when you are in the pool? This sign always cracks me up.

The sign is only referring to guests who leave the pool areas for extended periods of time. If you are in the water then you would still be in the pool area. I'm sure Princess P will be able to explain it to you. Just leave a case of Fritos Chilli Cheese chips on your chair the next time YOU are at Stormalong Bay and you'll know which sun bed is yours.

Last time I forgot one, the store had freebies behind the counter. Of course, I bought a bottle of wine there, so they just gave me the corkscrew.
That's certainly convenient!! If I get through the first two bottles I'll keep that in mind ;)

We arrived at BC on Monday ... an awesome experience so far! Check-in was flawless ... we were greeted as we got off ME and led directly to the fifth floor and checked in right away. Even though it was only @ 1 pm, our room was available. We got my request of getting a daybed, even though there are only four of us in our group. We overlook a rooftop direct, but to the left (and not straining to look, very easy-to-enjoy view) is of Stormalong Bay. Lovely resort and everyone has just been so friendly and helpful. My 13-year-old is in love with the scene in the lobby. Mousekeeping has been the best ... plenty of towels and amenities (including extra chocolates at turndown!). Haven't been to Stormalong Bay yet, but easy walk to the pier where we caught the boat for DHS Monday afternoon, after check-in, and bus service to / from AK today was very efficient. Not too busy here, compared to the two other times we've been at WDW (May and August of previous years), and lounge cast members are super nice and helpful. Tomorrow ... MK for my youngest's 5th birthday!

I've got a ton of pics of 2590 at BC, which is a garden view king bed room with a bar sink/counter and sofabed. Only problem is I can't seem to post them (and back-to-school has eaten any time or brainpower to try to figure it out). If someone is willing to post them for me, PM me an email addy and I'll send them along.
