Somebody's Gonna Pee in a Cup, West Coast - Link to new TR 1/21

This one was most definitely positive.
Apparently nature decided for us. We were going to have 3 kids.

Woah congratulations! :hyper: Did not expect to hear this, but very cool!

Basically, I’m just giving you a little bit of background as to why I did what I did when I scheduled FP+.

Yep, our trip is going to be very different this time around. DH is not interested in going on anything like TT or RnRC by himself. I'm over here like, "Think McFly! Think! You can potentially ride all the big rides up to three times since DS won't make the height and I can't ride those right now.":confused3 With that said, nothing is booked anyway, still haven't gotten tickets yet

That said, Rock n Rollercoaster
and then walk this way

I'm not sure if you meant to do this, but totally appropriate :thumbsup2

I chose to stay at Pop.

Good choice!

Congratulations on your new baby! Sometimes god just makes choices for us!
Thanks. And indeed he does.

Your FP plans sound pretty solid. Your goal is to show your DD a good time and having some of your own fun as well and it sounds like you have a good mix of that.
::yes:: I hope so!

I'm curious how the whole seasons of the Force plays out at WDW. The new scene in ST is cool. I've seen it about three times now. But do they have the SM overlay? It works great at DL because all of Tommowland is Star Warsed out. But with SM and ST in two different parks it seems weird. Perhaps they only have stuff in DHS.
My understanding is that WDW's SM is not getting the theming, only DL's is. The Star Wars stuff seems to be limited to DHS.

Sounds like you're going to have a great trip!
It should be! Thanks!

Congratulations! That's wonderful news. Your fast passes look great. This will certainly be a special trip for your DD. I was pregnant during a Disney trip and needed lots of rest. If your wife is anything like I was then you should have no trouble putting them to bed and then heading out on your own. Congrats again. It's wonderful news!
I'm sure she won't want to go RD to close... She was pregnant on our trip in 2011 and we managed very well. And I enjoyed a few solo ventures into the parks.

Well, I've already passed on my congrats, but I'll do it again here.
Congrats on the baby news!!
Thanks!

Been there...

.... done that.
Yeah... I guess I'll at least get to ride something rather than sit in a hotel room all day.

Baby's are always so convenient, aren't they?
Of course!

I get it. But too bad. FP window day is supposed to be exciting.
Yes... no... maybe. I don't know. The 60 days out thing still just kind of bothers me.

Perfect. That queue is really well done.
Awesome! I hope to finally see it!

Almost no point in going then, since I presume you won't be doing TT.
Probably not. I'd like to if I can, but we'll see. Not a priority.

I think we would just bypass EPCOT altogether if it weren't for our plans to eat at Akershus. And as far as being a park where DD and DW can do things... well, it works.

Good plan.
Thanks.

Really!!?? I didn't know they closed that!
I don't think they did. But the day that we were there last December, the Single Rider line was closed every single time I went over there to try to ride.

Too bad. But Wishes with or without dessert is awesome.
True.

I did that the first time we took the DDs when they were 4 & 8.
Worked like a charm.
Except I went and rode HM 3 times in a row.
Hey, it doesn't matter what you're riding as long as you're enjoying it.

Woah congratulations! :hyper: Did not expect to hear this, but very cool!
You weren't the only one who wasn't expecting to hear it.

Thanks!

Get this trip booked!!!! Just book the FP+ and he'll figure it out. I'd rather ride alone than not ride at all!

I'm not sure if you meant to do this, but totally appropriate :thumbsup2
I did. Thank you for noticing.

Good choice!
I think so.

Apparently nature decided for us. We were going to have 3 kids.

Congrats! I may be a little biased, being one of 3, but I think that 3 is the perfect number of kids! Mostly because that's all you can fit in the backseat of a small car.

I’ve never really been crazy about the whole scheduling FP at 60 days out to begin with. I mean, I love planning our trips. And I like being able to find specific windows that fit our plans to schedule certain attractions. I just don’t think I like doing it at 60 days out.

Personally, I love scheduling my FP+ in advance. But I wouldn't complain if they changed it to 30 days/15 days instead of 60/30. Or even 14/7 (although I'm guessing they won't do that). 60 days really is very far in advance to be expected to figure things out.

That said, Rock n Rollercoaster will be calling my name. I’ll use the FP to ride Tower of Terror and then walk this way until I’m in the Single Rider line for the best ride in the park. And if the single rider line is closed, like it was all day during our last trip, this might just be where I have my meltdown and things get ugly.

So ... what you're saying is that you'll ride Rock n Roller Coaster if the line is short, but if you have to skip it, no big deal?
I really hope the single rider line is open. And if it isn't, I hope the regular line is super short ... hopefully that will prevent any meltdowns. And if the regular line is short and single rider is open, maybe you can ride twice!

If there’s a fireworks show or something, we might hang around the studios to see that. If there’s something that seems really interesting to me, we might check it out. I would like to ride Star Tours to hopefully catch the scene from the new movie, but we’ll see.

Allegedly they're starting nightly fireworks on the 5th. But no official announcement from Disney yet, which is a little annoying (if there are going to be fireworks when I'm there, I may stick around for them, depending on when they are ... its not like I have to be up at 3am the next morning or anything). We'll see what information Disney decides to share in the coming months.
And from what I understand, everyone gets the new scene now, but I don't know how long they're doing that.

I’d really like to take DW and DD to the room and return by myself to ride BTMRR and 7DMT after dark during EMH… although Wishes is at 8 and EMH is only until 10.

You guys will be at Art of Animation that night, right? Is sending the girls back to the hotel with the car an option? That way you could stay at the park the whole time and just take the bus back ... aka extra park time!

I finally booked my room for Jan 8 when I arrive in Orlando. I chose to stay at Pop.

Yay Pop! Maybe we'll be neighbors (if we are ... try not to make too much noise. I'll be sleeping and sometimes you can hear through those walls).

About a week later, she still just wasn’t feeling right so she bought another test.

This one was most definitely positive.
:scratchin This makes me think about taking another test myself. While I've already done the tests at the designated time that was a few weeks ago and I'm taking a break on the fertility drugs while we move. Just the other night I had a strange and vivid dream about DH teaching the russians how to speed skate. :rotfl: (hormones can cause some weird dreams! )

Apparently nature decided for us. We were going to have 3 kids. This positive test was conveniently the same day as her annual OB appointment and so she was able to confirm the home test and was scheduled for an ultrasound about a week later. Conveniently, it was the day before I could schedule our FP+
party: Congrats!

Oh and the FP+ selections look good!

Congrats again, Andy!

Your plans sound good and reasonable for the situation. Hope everyone has a great time! (and that you get some solo ride time)

I hope it doesn't bother me. I don't worry about the drops and spins so much as the projections. And they can sometimes surprise me... like I really didn't expect the Forbidden Journey to bother me at all considering it was brand new video and it was only in short spurts.

Have you ever tried Bonine, the non-drowsy Dramamine? The four of us take it when we are at the Dark Side. Simpsons has been the worst ride for us.

good shape - Transformers is almost identical to Spiderman (just insert Transformers in for Spidey). :thumbsup2

:charac4: ::yes::

I really hope (and think) that you will have a chance to enjoy Aerosmith!

And from what I understand, everyone gets the new scene now, but I don't know how long they're doing that.

Wait! What? Missed this news!

:darth:

Congrats! I may be a little biased, being one of 3, but I think that 3 is the perfect number of kids! Mostly because that's all you can fit in the backseat of a small car.
I grew up in a family of 3. It works. But it sucks when you're the only boy and have 2 twin sisters. Anytime you go anywhere, guess who the odd man out is.

I guess that's why I don't have a problem going to a park solo or riding a ride by myself.

And small cars aren't a concern. We live in the country on a road that usually doesn't see a snow plow until after it melts. We don't even own a car. :rotfl2:

Personally, I love scheduling my FP+ in advance. But I wouldn't complain if they changed it to 30 days/15 days instead of 60/30. Or even 14/7 (although I'm guessing they won't do that). 60 days really is very far in advance to be expected to figure things out.
I'd like a shorter window a lot better. 30/15 would make more sense. I'd prefer it even shorter than that, but anything less than 60 would be nice.

So ... what you're saying is that you'll ride Rock n Roller Coaster if the line is short, but if you have to skip it, no big deal?
I really hope the single rider line is open. And if it isn't, I hope the regular line is super short ... hopefully that will prevent any meltdowns. And if the regular line is short and single rider is open, maybe you can ride twice!
Oh no... it would be a very big deal if I had to skip it. But I'm not going to stand in an hour line and make DW and DD wait on me. With 95% of DHS being basically closed now, I don't think a short line is even within the realm of possibility.

Allegedly they're starting nightly fireworks on the 5th. But no official announcement from Disney yet, which is a little annoying (if there are going to be fireworks when I'm there, I may stick around for them, depending on when they are ... its not like I have to be up at 3am the next morning or anything). And from what I understand, everyone gets the new scene now, but I don't know how long they're doing that.
I really should pay more attention. I've done virtually no research into what it will entail or when it will start. I guess my expectation is really that it is just going to be a tease of what's to come, but nothing that I'm going to be super excited about anyway.

You guys will be at Art of Animation that night, right? Is sending the girls back to the hotel with the car an option? That way you could stay at the park the whole time and just take the bus back ... aka extra park time!
No, we've switched to POR. That would be an option and we have done it once before, but DW doesn't like driving at Disney World. She has trouble finding her way around. And I really don't want to send them on a bus at night by themselves. So we'll just have to see how it plays out.

Yay Pop! Maybe we'll be neighbors (if we are ... try not to make too much noise. I'll be sleeping and sometimes you can hear through those walls).
I shouldn't be too loud. Do you have a preferred room? That was the only thing that was available when I booked. I've got a preferred pool view.

:scratchin This makes me think about taking another test myself. While I've already done the tests at the designated time that was a few weeks ago and I'm taking a break on the fertility drugs while we move. Just the other night I had a strange and vivid dream about DH teaching the russians how to speed skate. :rotfl: (hormones can cause some weird dreams! )
Apparently, they can be wrong. Or it takes a few to get the right answer? :confused3

And I had no idea that your DH was a speed skating coach!!! :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

party: Congrats!

Thanks... and thanks!

Congrats again, Andy!

Thanks! I really hope that I do get to ride some favorites. I know we can't plan around or plan for them, but hopefully it will work out.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

party:

Hoping all goes well for your wife and you in the coming months.
Thanks!

Have you ever tried Bonine, the non-drowsy Dramamine? The four of us take it when we are at the Dark Side. Simpsons has been the worst ride for us.
I've used it and I always try to take it a day before to get it in my system and then take it in the morning when we go to the park.

But let's just say that if I forget to take it, I don't really worry too much. Because I don't notice much difference either way.

:charac4: ::yes::

I really hope (and think) that you will have a chance to enjoy Aerosmith!
I hope so...

Wait! What? Missed this news!

:darth:
They've introduced a scene from the new movie into Star Tours. I haven't followed the news close enough, but my understanding is that they were putting it in before the new movie comes out... I assume it is in the ride now? I really don't know. But they were going to set it so that everyone gets that scene until the movie is released and then at some point it will revert back to regular Star Tours but the scene from the new movie will be part of the regular rotation of scenes so you'll still have a chance to see it.

About a week later, she still just wasn’t feeling right so she bought another test.

This one was most definitely positive.

I said it on the Dads thread already, but congratulations!

Basically, I’m just giving you a little bit of background as to why I did what I did when I scheduled FP+.

Oh, ok. I mean, as long as there's an important reason why you're announcing the pregnancy.:thumbsup2

Thankfully, it came last week and the trip is now paid in full, but I was worried. This money was earmarked to pay for this trip!

Now that it has a happy ending, I can say how much it makes me laugh that this was so eerily similar to Christmas Vacation. Good thing you didn't have to kidnap your boss.

2:55 – 3:55 Tower of Terror – me only
3:05 – 3:20 For the First Time in Forever Frozen Singalong – DW & DD

I’ll be honest. I’ve seen the Singalong. It’s a good show. I enjoy it and I love watching DD have a good time there. I’ll admit, I would kind of like to see it with them.

Yeah, I'm not buying that. Suurrrrrrrreee you would.

That said, Rock n Rollercoaster will be calling my name.

See? I knew it.

I like this because I’ll probably take a bus from Pop over to DTD and maybe make a quick stop in at Jock Lindsey’s before I head over to the Boardwalk.

I'll be interested to hear what you think. I was hoping to see it myself this weekend, but I think we're going to be trying so hard to see the Christmas decorations at all of the resorts that Disney Springs might get squeezed out.

Congratulations!!! I just poked my head in here to find out what your pre-trip plans were and was surprised to find out they were a little more extensive than I realized! That's awesome news!

Congrats on the new addition!
Thanks!

Well, you know. That's just kind of how it was. Kind of reminds me of a story I once heard somebody else tell. We're just going along minding our business and... hey, looks like we're gonna have a baby. :rolleyes1

Now that it has a happy ending, I can say how much it makes me laugh that this was so eerily similar to Christmas Vacation. Good thing you didn't have to kidnap your boss.
::yes:: That's why I couldn't resist posting on FB. By that point we'd been waiting for any kind of word for a month. Our CFO and HR guys told us that they didn't even know anything and were waiting on the CEO... it was just getting comical and frustrating.

Yeah, I'm not buying that. Suurrrrrrrreee you would.
:rolleyes1

See? I knew it.
Priorities.

I'll be interested to hear what you think. I was hoping to see it myself this weekend, but I think we're going to be trying so hard to see the Christmas decorations at all of the resorts that Disney Springs might get squeezed out.
It is kind of one of those things I'd like to see. If I don't, it won't be the end of the world. But I figure if I'm going to have a beverage or 2, I can take my time and use Disney Transportation and make a little stopover at Disney Springs along the way. I definitely wouldn't want to take the time to go there in your situation. Too much to see and too little time to see it. No point spending +/- 1 hour just getting to and from Disney Springs in addition to whatever time you spend there.

Congratulations!!! I just poked my head in here to find out what your pre-trip plans were and was surprised to find out they were a little more extensive than I realized! That's awesome news!
We were a little surprised too.

Thanks!

Ok, so I'm absolutely red-faced at how long it's been at how long it's been since I've posted and how far behind I am here. UGH! But the term is over and it's time to boogey here! Getting all caught up and making tracks. And WOW did I miss the news!!

That is AWESOME news, Andy! A HUGE congratulations to you and your whole family; so exciting!

I will try to keep caught up better over the break. :)

Thank you! And I totally understand. You've had much more important things to deal with than the Dis.

Ok... here's the latest rundown of my plans

Thursday 1/7: I'm going to move up my departure time. I was planning to leave after work, but I think I'll plan to leave around lunch time. I'll hit the road right away and try to be through Louisville before rush hour and hit Atlanta late at night, just after rush hour. I'll spend the night in a Fairfield Inn on points, just south of Atlanta so that I won't have to hit Friday traffic there.

Friday 1/8: I'll arrive at Pop Century sometime early that afternoon. I'm hoping to get into the room and change, but whether I can or not isn't too big of a deal. I'll take a bus over to Disney Springs to eat a late lunch at Jock Lindsey's and maybe look around a little bit. I'll then hop on another bus and go to either the Boardwalk or Beach Club. I really don't know what I'll do at this point. I currently have an ADR at 7 pm and I had plans to meet up with some Disdads for drinks. But, I kind of want to see Symphony in the Stars from the entrance of DHS. I don't know if we'll want to see it during our official Disney trip, so I'm checking for earlier ADRs and thinking about just showing up early for my ADR to ask if I can get in early. If so, I'll plan to head over to DHS just before 8 and then I'll just meet up with the Disdads after the fireworks. I probably won't stay out super late, as I'd like to be back in the room by around 11 or so to rest up for the next day.

Saturday 1/9: Universal opens at 9 am and I intend to be there when it opens! My mom and dad bought my Universal ticket for me for Christmas, so I'll go ahead and get the Express pass. I know that I won't necessarily need it, but it will certainly help. I ran through my touring plan and it appears that having the Express pass make sure that I'll get to do all I want to do and I can easily be out of the park 2 or 3 hours earlier than I would otherwise. Since this is an extremely busy day, that time is going to be very valuable. I need to head over to our conference hotel to check in and then over to the Convention Center to register for the conference and spend a little time there. If time allows, I'll hopefully have time to haul all of our crap to our room and change before heading over to the Poly for a 5pm dinner. I'm really looking forward to this, but the more I think about my plans for that day, I really wish it was a 6 or 7pm ADR because I'm going to be busting my butt to get there on time.

Sunday 1/10 - Tuesday 1/12: Most of our time will be spent around the Convention Center. We'll probably venture over to CityWalk a time or 2 to eat. Maybe even try to grab a last second ADR at one of the Disney Resorts one evening... We'll see. Right now, I think DW is actually leaning towards going to Islands of Adventure on Tuesday while I'm in meetings and they'll just spend most of the day in Seuss Landing.

Wednesday 1/13: Magic Kingdom!

Thursday 1/14: EPCOT/DHS

Friday 1/15: Magic Kingdom

Saturday 1/16: The long drive home.

so I'm checking for earlier ADRs and thinking about just showing up early for my ADR to ask if I can get in early
We accidentally did this at Ohana back in May. I got the time for our adr mixed up by a half an hour and they ended up letting us check in at 7 anyways. Though generally they make you wait till 20 minutes before.

Plans look good!

I'm checking for earlier ADRs and thinking about just showing up early for my ADR to ask if I can get in early.

We've gotten in 20-25 minutes before an ADR. Never tried any earlier. But I'm guessing that if you can get in before 7 and not eat too slowly, hopefully you'll be able to catch at least some of the fireworks.
But I'll try to take a video to post on my TR later just to make you jealous in case you don't see them.

Right now, I think DW is actually leaning towards going to Islands of Adventure on Tuesday while I'm in meetings and they'll just spend most of the day in Seuss Landing.

I think they will love Seuss Landing. That's one of my favorite parts of Island of Adventure (along with Harry Potter, of course). Just remember that both Cat in the Hat and High in the Sky Trolley Ride have height requirements ... I don't remember what they are, but it's something to be aware of.

Plans sound great!

Andy, congratulations on your exciting news! I hope your wife is feeling well and I look forward to hearing updates about your new arrival!

I think your trip plans sound great! It's pretty easy to swap around FP+ (and you already have the big guns of 7DMT and A&E) so I think you'll find a plan that works. I can't believe your trip is just around the corner!

I hope your family had a very Merry Christmas and I look forward to hearing about last-minute updates before you head to Orlando next week!

I'll be back with more replies later when I'm on a computer but I just wanted to let you all know, and more specifically @SarahDisney and @SimplyGoofy, that I'm posting this message while watching Prisoner of Azkaban. I saw that ABC Family had a Harry Potter marathon this weekend. I set the DVR and am working on my homework before Universal. I'm on number 3 now...way too many to go. But I'm trying.
