Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Just the idea of a newly refurbed room at BC vs. a "worn" room at YC. I think we will end up staying put. The renovation itself does not scare me at all. I am just going to cross my fingers that it starts before we arrive and we have a little pixie dust thrown our way and get a room that has been worked on. Hey, a girl can dream! :)

THanks for your opinion! When is your trip? :)

The end of an era. Thank you Teena for being there, giving us a smile, a hug, a big "Welcome Home" when we came by. Taking the time to talk, sharing those pins with all the little ones, and caring to help all those in need who were just trying to have a good vacation. Your insight and knowledge has been a great help to all on this thread and the fact that you were willing to share that knowledge shows how truly helpful and caring you are. We will miss you.

Have a Magical day

Are there many/any standard view rooms in the second floor? Would these be less likely to be overlooking the large flat, ugly roof?

I just checked in last night to a standard view YC room. We overlook the large, flat roof.... but, we can see some of stormalong bay, and we can see fireworks! It really isnt that bad of a view, actually. Our room feel like it is probably over the yatchman or so, it was a pretty long walk from the elevators. Room is a bit worn but very, very clean. Or neighbors came home at 2am and were very loud for about an hour, the kid slept through but I've been up! I think it is because there is a door to adjoin the rooms? All the sound seemed to be coming from there.

Off to MK for an early breakfast this morning!

Sorry to hear about the noisy neighbors. One tip I have heard is to put a rolled towel by the bottom of the door to help muffle the sound. I haven't had to use this tip, but it couldn't hurt.

Hope your trip is spectacular!

After working for Disney for more than 10 years, Teena the Beach Club greeter is retiring on Monday January 25. She will be moving to Las Vegas to live with her daughter Jeanne and her precious granddaughter Lily.

For many of us, the Beach Club lobby will never be the same without the enthusiastic greeting and warm smile from our friend.

I have started a thread on the Resorts Community Board to give everyone a place to send along good wishes to a great friend! Sort of like a virtual retirement card! (Thanks, shoreward, for the suggestion)

Here's the link to the thread:

Best Wishes for Teena

Please post pictures, stories or just words of thanks and encouragement. Teena's next few days will be very busy with work and the sale of the house, but I know once she is settled, reading your kind thoughts will be heartwarming.

I'd be interested also in any info regarding standard view rooms. I just booked my October trip with the "travel agency that must not be named" and the only room type available was standard. I asked the agent to request a courtyard view with large balcony on my reservation. Do I have a chance of getting a decent view?
I'd say it's not likely with standard view. Last year we booked standard and we got a room on the 3rd floor that was overlooking the front drive and the path to the busses. It had a tiny tiny balcony, but the view wasn't bad.I mean it was a driveway, but you could see people coming and going and it was better than the roof view . I don't spend any time sitting on the balcony or looking out the window really so standard is perfect for us. If we come back to the hotel for a break, we are either napping in the AC or sitting at SAB and we don't come back in the room at night until we are ready to go to bed. If view is important to you , or you like to relax on the balcony at night, I'd try to upgrade to a view. It's terrible to arrive for vacation and be disappointed.

It's so cold down here, that there were two warm blankets placed in the room last night, which were much appreciated. There is actually a wind chill, this morning, of 29 degrees. Can't complain, however, when seeing what's happened farther north.

Though the room's thermostat is set for a little warmer temp, the air coming out of the vent is not warm.

On page 325, I've posted a rough map of room numbers based on touring plans layouts and photos / info from the web... I think if you requested room 1071-85 2075-85 etc, that might be garden view, as you're next to a garden / patio area. If you go higher, I imagine it becomes a water view room...

Thank you so much! I'm going to take advantage of Touring Plans fax service and wanted to make sure I was reading the map right. I wasn't! So thank you for clarifying!!

Does anyone know if a BCV studio has a daybed or will accomodate a rollaway? I suspect not as the Disney website says the studio only accomodate 4 oeople. Just thought I would check.

The BCV studios have a queen bed and a sofa sleeper. They will not fit a rollaway.
The studio isn't big enough. :)

We just booked our first stay at the Beach Club for a standard club level room for my daughter's surprise 3rd birthday trip. We will be there from Sept 22-Sept 29th. Last March, we stayed club level at the Boardwalk and loved being so close to Epcot, so we are excited to be back in the same area! I can't wait to spend lots of time at the pool complex!

That's why I switched our YC to BC yesterday - I wanted to make sure we had a new room. The delay in the YC refurb was stressing me out a bit. We'll for sure do Yacht Club next summer (August 2017) - even if there's a delay in the refurb, we'd still have a new room by then :)

I am at the YC, and the CMs are stating that there is no scheduled start date on the room refurb project.
Thanks for asking about the room refurb. We love the YC and this August would have been our fourth stay there but we are ready for the refurbed rooms and so have booked at the BC. Sad they haven't actually began the rooms yet.

Can you add the "Best Wishes for Teena" link to the first page? I don't know where to find it except with this post

I'd def be happy with a couple of extra days and no body can blame you at work that you couldn't get back due to the storm, beauty!!!

Have another Sunken Treasure Tara and enjoy! Have one for me too!

We're about 90 minutes out of Charlotte. The schools are closed tomorrow, so my oldest has chilled out about driving home. We're stopping in Charlotte and we'll finish the drive in the morning. DC looks like a mess and, based on prior experience driving through there during a snow storm, they won't have it together for a while. I don't mind driving in snow, but I'm not doing it in the dark with my kids in a rented minivan.

I wanted to post a brief review of the new kids club program. We dropped Aria off at just around 4:30 yesterday. It's now a flat $55 fee for the night - whether your child is there an hour or all night. They provide dinner and a snack if your child is there past ten. We picked her up before then, though, so she missed out on that Rice Krispie treat.

There were the typical craft activities, which for Aria consisted of slapping stickers all over a blank sheet of paper. She said they baked cookies. When I picked her up, they had a CM in mad scientist garb performing experiments. Aria was perfecting her mad scientist cackle. She has continued doing so, to the delight of her brother. She had a fabulous time. I don't know that they've beefed up the program as much as advertised. The photo they have when you check in shows Chip (or Dale, can't recall) hugging a child and Aria only mentioned the mad scientist visiting. When the brochure is touting they'll meet Disney friends and they include a photo of Chip/Dale, I think it's safe to assume parents might expect a character meet. The CMs were fabulous, though, and seemed to genuine enjoy Aria. I know we usually had the kids there for at least three hours, so I don't think the price is much different from what we paid before. We'd absolutely use it again.
