Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

All the talk earlier on the thread has me thinking about smores and I was wondering if anyone there now could check out if they still sell the smores kits in the marketplace and if they do what they cost?
Thanks :)

They don't sell "kits" so to speak. But they do sell Graham Crackers and Hershey Bars separately. I believe the last time we were there it was ~$6 for both.

Thanks. I remembered getting an actual kit/bag a few years back with everything needed for 4 smores. Sticks, mallows chocolate the lot all in one convenient wee bag but I guess if we have to buy separate packs while it will cost a little more we will get to eat a LOT more so what's not to love! :rolleyes1:yay::rotfl2::thumbsup2

We requested (and got) a ground floor standard view in December, our room overlooked the courtyard (exiting lobby toward SAB). It was a lovely view (lots of poinsettias at that time of year) close to the lobby, too. There are at least 8 or so rooms on the first floor in that hallway that would all be SV.

They do sell cartons of milk at Ale and Compass to go with dry cereal. At other refill stations, lemonade, powerade, and cocoa are the more kid like beverages. We end up letting our kids have ice tea (they have a white tea that I like to think is not as caffeinated as the black.)

I have bought my mugs at Hurricane Hanna's! So convenient on the walk into Epcot.
Thank you!! Love all the experts tips! Hugs!:wave2:

Has anyone used Amazon Prime Pantry to Beach Club and if so, how did it go? We would like to order a few snacks, waters and drinks and it looks more cost effective since the shipping is $5.99.

I just saw on Allears that as of this month, the Ale and Compass is offering a limited menu (burger, shrimp, wings, truffle fries). The menu description matches that of the Crew's Cup - does anyone know if the food is the same? And would I be able to order in the lounge and take my food to SAB? This could solve my problem of Crew's Cup not having a kid's menu...

My DD6 and I will be there July 23-28, 2016. This is our second Yacht Club stay and we are so excited!

:welcome: back!!!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Well we were pixie dusted a little bit! We had sent an email to guest services about our less than stellar familymoon experience. We didn't expect anything at all, just wanted to let Disney know there were a few things that should probably be looked at. After all, if you don't say anything, they'll never know right? Anyways, I got a lovely letter from them saying they are so sorry and would love to offer us 2 nights free at any deluxe of our choice and a $200 gift card. I am blown away!!! Disney has definitely shown our family that famous customer service that keeps us coming back.

So we did tweak our holiday dates. We've always wanted to sample the monorail resorts, but didn't want to pay more and not be at our favourite, beach club. So we are now arrive Mother's Day weekend 2017 (May13-15) and will be spending those days taking in the resort at grand Floridian, no parks. Then moving over to beach club to start our parks trip for our usual 8 nights! So May 15-23. I'm so excited!! We thought about using it to reduce our cost for our trip, but then figured, what the heck, we have the trip budgeted for, let's add those two days instead ;).

Fantastic!!!

I will adjust the dates on the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

Thanks so much for sharing what Disney did for you with us!

:thumbsup2

Just returned from our first stay at the beach club and it was wonderful! Our biggest priority as far as room requests go is quiet, and they honored it. Room 4680 was perfect--away from the elevator and only one room next to us instead of two. Did not want to leave!

I'm so glad to hear that!

Any chance that you have a picture of the view from the room? Full or smaller balcony? I would love to add that to the BC Room View/Description thread.

:goodvibes

This might be a strange question: Does anyone know if housekeeping has foam toppers for the beds at YC? I have an injury to my spine that causes nerve pain when I sleep on some hotel beds. On the DCL, they brought me one w/out me having to make a prior accommodation or request. Anyone know if I can request one? Too big to fit into a suit case. Just wondering, and thanks!

BUMP!

I don't know the answer to this. I have never heard about mattresses toppers, but that doesn't mean they don't have them at the resort.

The other options are to have a new mattress topper shipped to the resort or if you have one at home that you can package, you should ship that to yourself during the stay (check out the important info on page 1- Post 13 or 14, about shipping packages to the resort)

Sad (or glad :) ) to say I own most of the resort merchandise. I was one those that wrote Disney and asked for the return of resort specific mechandise. Now every time I walk through there Lee Ann looks and me and says "Pony up Beach Club boy".

And momtwoboys I will also be there 14th - 18th. Disney races keep giving me an excuse to go back. This time next week :dogdance: :dogdance: :dogdance:!

Yeah, Lee Ann!!! Love it.

As we have discussed, the "This time next week game" is fun. Almost as much fun as being there.

Have a FANTASTIC trip!!! Which races are y'all* doing? (* phrase used as honorary family member)

:woohoo:

I read that showers and lockers are for spa guests only. So is there any option for us to shower and get cleaned up/ changed on our check-out day. We usually stay at POR and next to the pool are ladies and mens locker rooms.. This is very important for us as we plan on checking out, hitting Epcot for a few hours, then cooling off at the pool. Our pick-up times are 4pm. We have a 10 hr Intl. flight, so a proper shower is neccessary.

Might as well check too, but normally you can still use the pools at other resorts the whole day even when check-ed out is this different here?

:welcome: to the thread.

When is your trip?

I think the policy about restricting the locker room/showers in the health club to spa guests is horrible. My understanding is that because the spa is run by an outside company, not Disney, they can set the rules. I have heard rumors that showers will be built, but no info on where or when.

I can understand wanting a proper shower and place to freshen up before your departure. I would encourage you, and anyone else in your situation to go to the front desk or resort concierge and ask if there are options for you. I don't think that there are any hospitality rooms at the resort, or whether a late checkout is available, but maybe if enough people ask something could be provided.

Right now, as you have read, the options are the outside showers and changing in a bathroom. FWIW, the bathrooms in the hallway in the resort near the pool are large and clean. That's where I have changed on checkout day. The bathrooms at the pool are NOT where you want to go.

:fish:

Hi Dee! :flower1:

Not sure when you did it but I like the edit to the title of our thread!

Thanks!

I know, right?1? Not sure why it took me so long to think to do that.

:sad2:

It's official I'll be coming to Disney in December. I'm not chaperoning, but my DMIL and I will be at BC SV CL 12/2-4 to see my DS15 sing in the CP on 12/3. It's my first CP, I am going to be an emotional mess :sad1::santa:

:welcome: back!!!

I'll add you to the list.

:woohoo:

I am blown away at how exciting this will be for you!!! Congrats to him and to your family!

Ok, so I feel like a real "noob" (and I'm not, I promise) but have 2 questions on things I've apparently never had to deal with before so do not know the answer to...

1. Online check-in. I've never actually done it since, at least as of 2014 which was last time I stayed "on campus", you still had to "check in" physically at the resort anyway and I like the ability to 'negotiate' my room a bit at the actual check in line (location, balcony, etc.). But this year I am sending wife/kids ahead of me on DME while I grab rental car and make a supermarket stop, so if I check-in online, can they have immediate SAB access? Then if someone has to physically still go to the "online check in line" at some point, I'll take care of when I arrive, but thought that'd be a nice perk for my wife and the kids to basically just go straight to the pool.

Thanks all!

Good question! I suspect that would work for them, but I haven't personally experienced that.

Anyone have info about how the "direct-to-room" check-in works for resort access and even theme park access?

:thumbsup2

So very excited that we just booked a Poly/BC split stay for October! :hyper: We were in Disney 3 years ago and stayed in a Lion King suite at AoA. My DD (4 at the time, will be 8 for this trip) absolutely loved it, and we had a great trip- but I can't wait to try out the deluxe hotels! She's a little fish, so I know that she will absolutely love SAB. Our official BC stay is 10/24-10/27.

Question- we are in a standard view room. Do all of the room accommodate 5 now, or just some? My daughter has karate legs when she sleeps, so I'm really hoping that we will have a little pull down bed for her. I'd rather not tour Disney with a bruised kidney :).

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

As pointed out previously, add "Daybed, please" to your room reservation.

::yes::

We are headed back to Beach Club in October!! It's our favorite! YAY!! :flower1::yay:

:welcome: to the thread!

When is your trip?

Has anyone here used Amazon Pantry???

I am not positive, but I think in addition to the $5.99 shipping charge from Amazon, you would also be assessed a charge to pick up the items at the Yacht Club Convention center. The charges are based on weight.

There is info on shipping to the resort in either Post 13 or 14 of the thread.

If you do online check in and state an arrival time then your entitlements (tickets, dining plan, etc) become active at that time. You can go to a park, use dining credits, etc. Sometimes there is a problem with the reservation that requires someone to go to the front desk. An example would be a credit card glitch. If you don't receive a direct to room text before you arrive at the resort then you will have to physically check in before you can access SAB. But most often you will receive a direct to room text which will let you know the status of your room, i.e. ready or not. If you receive the direct to room text then you are all checked in and don't have to go to the front desk unless you want to talk to them about something. The problem is that you won't know whether you will be able to skip the front desk until your arrival day.

Thank you so much!!!

I have never done the online checkin, so I am totally clueless to this process and appreciate your detailed description.

Good morning fellow YC/BC lovers - I have a question. This will be the first time DH is traveling with a c-pap machine, which requires distilled water. Anyone know if the Marketplace sells it? I'd rather not have to lug water in my suitcase, and he won't need enough to justify a delivery to the resort.

I would not count on it. I haven't stayed at YC, but in all of the other deluxe resorts I have stayed at, there was only regular bottled water (I buy a lot of it when visiting WDW because I hate the taste of tap water there). If you require distilled, I would strongly suggest ordering it to be shipped from Garden Grocer or Amazon--the resort will hold it for you. But if, as you said, you don't need that much, I would just pack the bottle so you can be at ease knowing you have what you need, even if it's not convenient to carry.

I have not done it myself, but I have read that Turner pharmacy will deliver items (including distilled water) to any Disney resort for a flat rate, maybe $7-8, with no minimum purchase amount.

Hopefully others who are in the same situation can share what they have done in the past.

Going to do online check-in for BCV. Woods view or canal view? I've been looking at pictures, but can't decide.

Thanks. He will only need 1 cup each night, so I'll probably just pack a liter in our luggage.
