Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

I definitely think it's possible that the front desk staff just didn't know... he sure did seem confident in his response, though. I admit that I took his word for it without pressing for additional information - there was no info in the room at all, either. :o

When I stayed at Riverside last October, the front desk had no information regarding BB offers. I knew from reading the boards that a new offer was imminent for dates in 2016. I was advised to call Disney Central Reservations.

We just got home a few hours ago from our first stay at YC, and we are hooked! We booked a GV/WV room online with an AP discount and added DDP for sheer convenience - paid in full at time of booking, as it was within 30 days from our arrival date. We were en route on Friday morning and received a text that our room was ready - room 3127 - unexpected, but very much-appreciated, upgrade to LV/PV! We had an incredibly relaxing long weekend and will definitely stay here again.

We did not see any BB offer in the room, so we stopped by the desk to check out and ask... we were told that they were not offering any BB discounts/offers at this time.

We had a similar experience with bounceback offers leaving the CR on December 29, 2015. We had already checked out, and I had assumed my DH wasn't interested in booking a BB since we had gone to WDW 5 times in 2015, and were going to calm down a bit for the future. But, as we were sitting in the Contempo Cafe before our ME time he said something about booking one just to have another trip planned! Of course I was all over that. So I sat with the kids while he went to the main hotel concierge desk to ask for the BB info. He came back and said they told him they didn't have any written into on them anymore. I knew that was wrong, so he went up to the CL concierge desk (we had stayed CL). They also told him they didn't have anything. I knew they did, it's always in the solid color folder (We've had red and brown, I know, plus I think maybe dark blue) that is somewhere in the room when you check in. The one that has a lot of little fliers on conservation, buying the linens, etc, food options at your resort and the hotel. I never really read through it all. But there is a thicker brochure in there on WDW in general that always has the BB offers in the middle of it, with a calendar of the dates. it's been like that for quite a while, after they quit putting the BB offers front and center on the table in your room. I thought I had read that you could still book a BB offer from home if it is the day you check out, so we went home and I called that night and was able to book a BB offer anyway. (I think one of the concierge desks had given him a phone number, just denied that there was any written info). But when I unpacked I found that folder in our luggage (I keep everything from our stay for the scrapbook, etc, even though I have no more room for things like that!!) and sure enough, found the brochure with bounceback info. My husband is always amazed when I know more about something than the CMs at Disney, and I think it's kind of ridiculous that a lot of the time I do! But in this case I really think it's unacceptable, because there were all concierge CMs at a RESORT that had no idea there are still BB brochures in every room. I always keep that folder, and I have quite a few of them from all different resorts and they all have the info, for each respective year. Unless they are trying to discourage people from booking BBs, which I wouldn't understand, I don't know why the CMs at the resorts wouldn't know where to find the info. having a guest book a BB is great for them, because it's a reservation made easily and money made almost automatically. I know when I book a reservation just in case, we have never cancelled! Once I have it in my head we are going, I don't want to cancel. Also, I had always thought the BB rate would be the best available, but found out that isn't necessarily the case because this time it was the same as the spring discounts and there were additional views available when the spring discounts came out that hadn't been available with the BB. So we ended up changing everything but the date, and aren't using the BB we booked, but Disney is getting even more money from us b/c we ended up deciding to get APs again and booked YC CL instead of the POR BB we had the (mild) drama with back in Dec! So all because of my DH mentioning booking a BB offer on our last day, Disney ended up getting 4 APs and a deluxe resort CL room out of us instead of a moderate and us using our remaining non expiring tickets 8-). Disney math gets me every time. Gotta get the APs for the room AP discount, only $xxx more for the YC instead of a moderate. well, it's getting close and should be fun. I'm a little worried about the YC CL standard view, but it will be better than the moderate without a balcony, so it should be fine.

Ok, that was a super long winded way of saying that there are bounceback offers unless it has changed since Dec, and they are in the rooms, and the CMs don' seem to know :D

About how long does the boat ride from BC to DHS take, including the stop at the Swan/Dolphin? Also, how long do you typically wait between between boats? If I got to the boat dock an hour before the time that I want to be in the park, is that sufficient? TIA! :)

The boats run approximately 20 minutes apart and the travel time to DHS is about 20 minutes. If you see a boat leaving the Boardwalk and heading toward the BC/YC then that is the boat that is going to DHS. :)

For the HS star wars fireworks, other than walking towards HS, any other spot where you can see them?

Can you see most of them from the beach or just the high ones?

Okay, question..... I booked a standard view BC through the magical agency. I recall a couple of months ago, a lot of people had booked these kinds of rooms through this agency, and then found out that they were upgraded to garden view or water view rooms. This was surmised to be because there aren't many standard view rooms, and they were 'oversold' on standard view.

So my question is, if this happened to you, when did you discover that your room category had been changed/> Before your trip, or when you arrived? And if it was before the trip, how long before the trip?

Thank you!

We were upgraded to lagoon view with our magical reservation last October. I didn't know until we set foot in the room, although I was told we were placed in a king room at check in. The only downside was...we checked in at 10 am and our room wasn't ready until 5 pm.

I booked that deal again this October and now I am worried that I am so spoiled that a standard would be disappointing, LOL.

Hi friends and :welcome: to any new arrivals!

Sorry I have been MIA. Marathon weekend (performances, not running) at the theatre. Our company is performing 4 shows of "A Pirate's Life for Me!" I don't have anyone in the cast, but I do have a craving for really bad eggs. Yo ho!

Thanks everyone for continuing to be helpful in answering questions and I'll be back early in the week to catch up.

That's not the real reason that you have been so busy! I have it on good authority that the Mankini shopping for Mr. NateBenMa is not going so well! Apparently the Mr. is not fond of the Red White and Blue color scheme of the Olympic Stormalong Bay Synchronized Pool Tube Team uniforms and he is holding out for the lime green color he saw in the Mankini catalog.

Please tell your domestic diva that we here on the Official, Olympic, Stormalong Bay Synchronized Pool Tube Team take our fashion responsibility very seriously and it's going to be red, white and blue or he is off the team (unless he is buying the drinks)! If he wants to rock the lime green mankini he can do that on his own time. Perhaps you can appease him with the knowledge that the wearing of the mankini is just not limited to poolside. Common household chores like dish washing and cleaning the gutters can be accomplished while he rocks his favorite lime green mankini. You may even be able to get him to help out with undesirable chores like grocery shopping by promising if he goes to the store he can wear his favorite outfit!

Keep in mind, as you are in the midst of this fashion tussle, that you may be dealing with a husband who is a trend setter. All it takes is one brave soul to start wearing a Mankini everywhere and before you know it all the other Mankini lovers will start to appear. Just think! One day we might even have "Mankini Mondays" at the office! BTW, Mankinis are totally appropriate for the office because everybody knows that they are all business in the front and party in the back! Casual Fridays are starting to look really passe, right?

Dee, I don't envy you as you try to get through this clothing crisis with your husband. It may help to tell him that the Olympic committee has decided to go with clear tubes for the competition. With those clear pool tubes, the red, white and blue Mankini will really show off his assets a lot better so at least there is that!

I hope that you will stand your ground and convince Mr. NateBenMa that being a part of the Olympic Stormalong Bay Synchronized Pool Tube Team is totally worth any fashion sacrifice he may have to make.. Failing that, ply him with Sunken Treasures until he finally agrees and while he's toasted get him to agree to booking a 2017 Disney trip. I think they call that killing two stones with 1 bird, or something like that, which is pretty much what wearing that Mankini is going to do.

You can see most of them. I've got some shots of a lot of the "lower" ones and they they're above the BW. I've edited them but haven't hosted them so once I get home I can post a shot or two for you. I will say that if you can watch the show in HS you definitely should, its well worth it to be right underneath of them with the music blaring.

thanks. I would love to see some "low" ones. Since HS is doing the fireworks only 4 times a week now, we can only possibly make three of the shows and one of those is our non park day. Going to try and make two - one from outside the park and another inside. DS is fireworks and star wars obsessed.

So I'm going to try an experiment here. I shot these using my remote shutter through the Nikon app. When I do that it also saves the images (as jpegs) to my phone and then my phone automatically uploads to Google Photos. I messed around at the airport on the way home and created a nice little animation with it using the jpegs so I'm going to try and post that. I did edit the RAW files so these aren't my "edits", and some of the shots didn't turn out great, but the animation was pretty cool and should give you a good idea of what to expect. Lets see if I can pull this off.

Thanks for the response! It seems like most people (of those who received upgrades) didn't find out until they were actually going into their rooms! That's a wonderful upgrade!

Okay, another question...

What kind of laundry machines do they have at BC/YC? Are they regular or he? I want to bring my own laundry soap and need to know which one to pack...
