WONDERous adventures on the Panama Canal - 4/23/17

Thank you Huskiesrule and wilma-bride for the welcome! I'm sure I won't be lonely on this cruise and very much open to spending some time with new friends as well as alone time. I recently took a Caribbean cruise on a large ship and quickly realized it wasn't for me. I'm much more into the laid-back cruising style on the smaller ships. I really do enjoy the sea days and glad this cruise has plenty.

Welcome aboard everyone!!! I'm looking forward to all the fun activities ahead......
Can we go now? I'm so ready for a vacation...... I dream of Mickey all day...Sing songs at the most random, yet sometimes inopportune times....AND, at work, they have Sirius Escapes on the PA system, and occasionally catch a DISNEY song and bust out in song....My resident's just think I'm HAPPY, but what they really don't know is.....I'm a FANATIC!!! However, I could also be accused of any other dwarf at one time or another during my day.....

Wilma-bride, are the Flintstones your favorite cartoon?

I think you will be in a fortunate position that you will be able to find company whenever you want (or need) it.

I am a big fan of the sea days too. On the WBPC last year, when they announced we weren't stopping at Puerto Vallarta everybody else was really sad and we were delighted at the thought of another sea day ;)

Good guess, but....no ;)

@wilma-bride is on a roll with names. It's for my Husky Chey, who I lost last year. She's my pic on the site that shall not be named. Now what will our entertainment be? Any other trivia questions?

Well, we could always try to guess who is who on the "site that will not be named", although Huskiesrules should be fairly easy. LOL

Yeah, and there is a post there with everybody's names for both locations so no challenge with that. Maybe we need to come up with random Disney trivia?

hey, pony up QuiltTeddy :teeth:

I for one will admit to trying to figure out @wilma-bride user name origin. Maybe if she posted some wedding photos that might give us a clue?

what is going on with the Wonder? I sure hope at dry-dock they disinfect all the bad juju and we will have none of that for our cruise!

When we did the East Bound Panama cruise a couple years back we went thru Hurricane Odile and a couple of tropical storms. We didn't see land til the 9th or 10th day after we sailed. Our first stop was Cartagena.

I loved it. Some others on the ship, not so much, including the crew.

Maybe @wilma-bride is married to a guy named Fred? It's kind of entertaining trying to figure out why people chose what they did as sign in names. I am guessing you heard oh mom from your kids way to much?
As for the Wonder having bad juju, I think its the luck of the draw. Look at how many cruises where nothing happens, or nothing we hear about anyway.

I just love that there are so many activities going on - we are almost getting to the point where we are going to need our own navigators
I love it - that would be hilarious! :lmao:Of course, now I'm trying to picture the logistics of doing this...

Disney was not exactly my first choice though as I thought it would be much more expensive than the other cruise lines but surprisingly it was one of the cheapest.
Hello @Shock13 ! What other cruise lines did you look at? I compared this to Princess and Celebrity when we booked and (for an inside stateroom, at least) the difference in cost was negligible. I really liked the layout of the Princess ship (Coral/Island) for their April 2017 PC transit (when we sailed it for an Alaskan cruise) though.

Great idea! :thumbsup2 Also very much enjoy it when other DISers share their favorite DCL photo to a DISmeet thread... not that I'm hinting for any... :rolleyes1

Yeah, I have yet to figure out how to post a photo as it always says the photo is to big or something. The only photo I didn't have an issue with was the one I used as my avatar photo. Maybe someday I will figure out how to post a pic(or someone will give me directions).

I can certainly help you out with a wedding picture - just because I love the picture sooooo much :) I don't think it will help you out with guessing though ;)

I honestly can't imagine the medical emergency on the Wonder has anything to do with Noro - I have friends on that cruise and she told me there had been no signs of it as far as she was aware.

Nope, my husband's name is Gary but he is the reason why I am Wilma ;)

Maybe you could work some creative magic with the schedule document I've got - I could at least do with the flags updating (I think)

Hey, you never told me you had considered doing the PC with another line - I am very grateful that you didn't, wouldn't be much of a stalker otherwise ;)

Oh, OK, if you insist

Or maybe this one, a personal favourite :rotfl2:

And I love this one too

Oh man, so many wonderful memories. Somebody stop me...

I upload my pictures to Photobucket or Flickr and then copy the IMG link from there into a post here and voila!

The one and only time I went to Europe, we tried to pack to much in and I love the history over there. As Americans we have history, but not nearly like some of the European countries. I want to go back as I feel I missed so much, but here is hoping that my sister goes to Germany next year so I have to visit her. She's family so I would have to suck it up and go:lmao:

I hope you do get to visit!

:welcome: Linda lol. I am so glad you are joining in this time - although I find it ironic that we live only a few miles away and we have to go to the Panama Canal to get together. I blame you for your hectic social life

If we don't see each other until we are boarding the Wonder next April, it would be a travesty!
You even hang around outside my office at weekends!

 You make me sound like a down and out

But you know what, Wendy (@runskyhy) and Rich are visiting at the end of the month and we do have a couple of nights in London planned, including a visit to The Alchemist for an early dinner on Tuesday 31st May - don't suppose you would finish work early enough to be able to join us? Or perhaps we can catch up with you the day we plan to head over to Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park? Gary and I (and Daniel) are in London until Thursday, Wendy and Rich are staying until Friday.

I loved London! All your talk of going for a weekend makes me want to fly over, but that whole last minute airfare is a downer. Maybe someday I will make it back, but for my next big land trip I want to go to Australia. I will make it there as soon as I convince myself of that day on a plane thing:sad2:
