Ladies, what shoes does your man wear when walking around Disney?

Hey girls, my husband and I are struggling to find the best walking for him for walking around Disney. He is adamant that he can go round in sandals but I really think he will get half way then give up. So we need something comfortable that is durable.

I found this list of the best walking shoes for men: https://www.top9rated.com/best-mens-walking-shoes/

However we aren't sure which type of shoe to go for.
He likes the look of a couple from that list, but which do you recommend?

Thank you :)

i have seen many people in sandals and some say they are comfortable to walk all day in the park. I have never done it nor my DD. He usually wears his nike he wears to the gym. and he will take a pair of converse too. I think the key is to not wear the same shoe everyday.

Why not just ask us guys directly, rather than going through our spouses? ;) Anyway, I'd guess that it's a very individual decision. What's comfortable for one guy may not be for another. As for me, I found these Reeboks about 5 years ago, and they're now my every day shoes, as well as my Disney shoes. They're incredibly comfortable, with lots of cushioning in the soles:

A good sandal works OK, as long as it has support. But in any case, I highly recommend that he bring at least 2 pairs of shoes, and alternates.

As a guy who has been on quite a few Disney trips (and also has moderately bad feet), my go to is 2 pairs of running shoes. Always two different shoes (generally two different manufacturers), and always rotate them. I usually need ones with support (but not motion control), and I tend to pick them up on sale from somewhere like RunningWarehouse. Right now I've got a pair of Nike Structure 18s and a pair of New Balance something or others, but I've had stuff from most of the major manufacturers one trip or another (Brooks, Asics, Nike, New Balance, Adidas). The other key is wearing good quality socks. I've recently become a huge fan of Bombas, but there are a lot of good sock manufacturers out there.

If your husband really doesn't want to wear running shoes, I'd look at something like Ecco or Clarks (or Mephisto, if money is no object). The Europeans really know how to make a great walking shoe that looks like a normal shoe.

My only comment on sandals, while I know many people enjoy them, is that a good pair of shoes and a good pair of socks are far less likely to cause a blister than foot directly on sandal.

My husband always wore heavy rockport slipons. However, this year he is wearing his sketchers with memory foam slip on's. Always bring 2 pairs of shoes to alternate, too.

Every foot is different but I have found a lower cut shoe like an athletic shoe is best for being on you feet ALL day at DL. Higher cut shoes will wear on your ankles.

I agree with the above poster...I rotate shoes EVERY day...even mid day will change socks and shoes if I head back to the room. Gives the pressure points a chance to rest and greatly reduces blisters. Your feet will thank you.

We bring two pair. It's important to switch up. Maybe even more important than what shoe. New Balance is our preferred walking shoe for long distances. He likes to take a pair of Vans and converse. I can't do converse in Disney personally, but I do like to wear Vans there.

I personally find the Rockport walking shoes the most comfortable, but am currently wearing Columbia walking shoes while at Disneyland. My dad wears his Teva sandals all day at Disneyland, and never has problems.

My hubby wears crocs. I know, I know...hahahah but he has tried sandals and was not a fan. He tried flip flops (my and the 4 kids go to) but threw them in the garbage. He is not a fan of runners in the heat (and for him "heat" does not take much as we live in very Northern Canada). Happy shoe hunting!

My hubby also wears Crocs, he had to have foot surgery and they are the only shoes that he can stand to wear for miles of walking. He didn't want to wear them at all at first but after the foot surgery he became a convert, he even wears them other times even though his brothers make fun of him.

I never, ever wear runners with shorts, except at Disney.

Most of the time, I wear Chucks or another casual show, and for my first few Disney trips as as adult, I put fashion over comfort. Then it dawned on me that I'm a dork anyway, and really didn't care if I was committing a fashion faux pas by wearing runners and short socks in the parks. Comfort eventually triumphed over looking good.

My husband had terrible foot pain until he started wearing SAS shoes. No more pain and he can walk all day with no discomfort.

Question.....?? what makes socks "good quality"? (higher % cotton?......something else??)

Makeup of the material and construction, mostly. Some of it is personal preference in materials, too. Besides Bombas, Thorlo, Smartwool, Darn Tough, and Wigwam make good socks. Most of the athletic brands (Nike, Under Armour, Adida, etc) have good ones in their lineup. Read around a bit online to get an idea of which different materials have what benefits, and you'll likely have to try a few to see what you prefer.

I've been on a number of Disney trips and I always wear Keens. I wear them all summer too. Comfortable and water proof!

DH loves his Keens, both sandals and lace ups. Wearing Keens, he can go all day in the parks without any foot pain (from PF).

As stated above, materials and construction matter! We love socks with arch support and good wicking. Socks that wick mean no blisters!

This. I wore some New Balance 880v6 for my 4 day trip last week including Saturday when my fitness band recorded 39000 steps/19 miles with no foot issues. I stuck with just the one pair.

A good running store will fit you properly and I was also impressed with the employees at the mall New Balance store.

I'm a girl, but I take seriously the question of shoes, because, as was drilled into us (not that we didn't already know) our last trip - Disney is SERIOUS walking. My activity app hit 25,000 steps every single day, and got to 30,000 one of them. That's a minimum of nine miles each and every day. I don't know about you - my regular activity doesn't come CLOSE to nine miles a day. I don't wear socks, normally. But I have moisture-wicking athletic socks that I own strictly for Disney. I have three different pairs of shoes that I rotate. I find that wearing the same pair all the time really stresses out the ankles. Different shoes hold your feet in different ways. Your ankles will appreciate a break.
