I keep waiting for them to say "just kidding."

In case you're not watching, Nick Vial is the new Bachelor.

Not sure what to think.

Just bizarre.

I don't watch any Bachelor shows regularly, like I catch an episode here and there if I'm around while my mom watches, but I find that Nick either comes across as absolutely terrible or absolutely wonderful. Like, I'm either thinking about how handsome and sweet he is or how much of a jerk he is (though always handsome).

I'm weirdly looking forward to it! At least he can't lose this time. I think...

LOL.

Unless both F1 and F2 reject him.

He's such a retread. That's what gets me. Twice on the Bachelorette. Now, Bachelor in Paradise.

And, he's always "falling in love."

Right.

As a woman, I'd RUN as fast as I could from him.

I thought they picked already a Bachelor. Did he back out?

Who knows? Maybe Luke was way too smart to say yes.

Or, the powers that be decided he was too boring to carry a season.

Nick won't be boring.

I'm not surprised then.

Nick has been nice during BiP and he's been sitting in on the "after" show. I was confused watching the "after" show last night that they had a poll about "which couple will last" and Nick and Jen were not listed while Nick was sitting right there!

I like the choice! It will NOT be boring in the least!

What we don't know is whether he's REALLY nice, or if just got a "nice" edit to set him up for Bachelor.

They shoot a lot of hours of everyone. Not that hard to find 5-10 minutes of even the biggest jerk occasionally acting nice. LOL. It's so hard to say what any of these people are like IRL. It's a show. With a "script" and a "story" they are trying to sell.

I find it interesting that they spent 2 seasons portraying him as the villain and with BiP, he's suddenly the voice of reason, the one with the level head.

I'm not really looking forward to a whole season listening to him talking like he has marbles in his mouth or is chewing on the inside of his cheek.

I think that the franchise has just hit a new low! Which they hope will boost their PR and ratings....
I have long said that this was now like some warped incestuous family...
The same guy on for like the FOURTH time!!!! :crazy2:
And, obviously, all completely scripted.

Having said that, I love my Monday television...
It must be like some secret sin or vice.
I will probably be watching!!!

PS: I do see some positive, endearing qualities to Nick.... Just can't ignore the scum-factor.

Luke made a cryptic Instagram post yesterday saying something about "unexpected changes" and "God's plan". It lead me to believe he was set to be the Bachelor and then dumped for Nick. While Luke has a pretty good fan base and seems like a genuinely good guy, I do think he was slightly boring and may not be the best lead from a ratings/entertainment perspective. The consensus for the last couple seasons of Bachelor/Bachelorette/BIP have been that they are predictable and somewhat boring, so maybe they're hoping Nick with his back story and "unlucky in love" angle can bring something different.

Ohhhh, make no mistake, it is all about what they hope they can bring to get the ratings.
But, the thing is, as I see it, Nick is in 'friend territory' big time.
He seems to end up as the 'friend' of many women. But, never can get further.
Maybe the producers know what they are setting up here.
Maybe they know what they are doing.
I am sure they have a lot of scripts going.
But, to me, the guy who does not have the charisma and macho, who has ended up in friend territory several times over, is not going to bring what most viewers are tuning in to see.

IMHO, friend territory is both predictable and boring.

And, OMG, on that note... does this qualify crying Lashley as the next bachelorette.
The whole non-sexy, friend territory, person who just can't seem to find a relationship.
She sure fits that bill.
And, again, I would be - :crazy2:

Which begs the question....wonder what the women are going to think? There are already women signed on to be on the Bachelor, and some may have been expecting Luke (as all signals pointed in that direction), and now they get the retread of Nick. LOL. And, to say they are different sorts of men would be the understatement of the century.

OK, I have to say, Nick looks darn good on BIP. New hairstyle, more muscles. Same simpering personality though. But everyone except Josh seems to look to him as their leader. Weird.

Would like to have been there when Josh Murray's head exploded. Eh, I'll watch anyway. But wouldn't Daniel have been fun?
