Who Needs Toes Anyway? A 2016 EBPC Trip Report *COMPLETE*

For dessert, the kids had the sundae.

d11.jpg

I ordered the cannoli. It was okay.

d12.jpg

Jimmy also had the cheesecake.

d13.jpg

I also had the white chocolate panna cotta. This was yummy!

d14.jpg

After dinner, we went to The Walt Disney Theater to watch Pete's Dragon. It was a cute movie.

By the time the movie ended, we were all exhausted! We decided to call it a night.

ta.jpg 936.jpg 937.jpg 938.jpg 939.jpg

We each got a certificate acknowledging that we crossed the Panama Canal.

Up next...A day in port.

On Sunday 9/4, my family woke just in time to slip into Triton's breakfast before it closed.

941.jpg 942.jpg 943.jpg 944.jpg 945.jpg 946.jpg

I had the Mornin' Tugboat, pineapple juice, and a fruit plate.

b1.jpg b2.jpg

I also took a cherry-filled muffin, but I don't believe I ate it. The days of the rich breakfasts are over, for me anyway.

b3.jpg

The kids, on the other hand, had the waffle sandwich with dulce de leche crème. They loved it! James had his usual meat, eggs, and hash browns so I didn't take a picture.

b4.jpg

After breakfast I went up to deck 10 to take pictures of Cartagena, Columbia.

c1.jpg c2.jpg c3.jpg c4.jpg c5.jpg c6.jpg c7.jpg c8.jpg

Prior to today, James and I had discussed taking a cab into old town if the weather was cooperative. It wasn't. It was EXTREMELY hot and humid. I felt like I could barely breathe on deck. We decided to stay onboard in the air conditioning.

James and Jimmy hung out in the cabin watching McFarland USA. Emily and I went to see Finding Dory. I stayed awake this time and was glad I did. It was a great movie!

Once the movie ended it was time for lunch. As always, we gathered the family and went to Triton's.

l1.jpg

For my appetizer, I had the smoked duck.

l2.jpg

Jimmy had the kids' chicken parmigiana.

l3.jpg

I had the cauliflower soup.

l4.jpg

and the farfalle pasta as my main course. This was okay, but nothing extraordinary.

l5.jpg

Emily had the pork ribs. The sauce on this was very good.

l6.jpg

James had the cod. He didn't care for it.

l7.jpg

For dessert, I had the pineapple-almond pie. I will definitely order this again!

l8.jpg

James had a bowl of ice cream.

l9.jpg

Jimmy had the cookies and marshmallow. Emily had a Mickey bar.

l10.jpg

After lunch, Emily went to the kids' club. The rest of us played Pictionary in the Promenade Lounge. Since we were the only people who showed up to play, we won the prize bag, which included: a beach blanket, two drawstring bags, two luggage tags, and a backpack.

pic1.jpg

pic.jpg

We stayed in the Promenade Lounge for Trivia then went to Diversions for Wii-beldon. When we got there, though, Mia couldn't get the Wii-beldon game to work. So, Brett helped her out and let the participants choose the game. Can you guess what they chose by the photos?

mario.jpg mario 2.jpg

The adults learned to never challenge a 12 year old boy to video games, especially Super Mario Bros. Jimmy dominated the game.

mario 3.jpg

After Mario, Jimmy stayed with us in Diversions for pub trivia. Before we got started, Brett gave Jimmy the prize he'd promised him earlier in the cruise. It was a Route 66 trading pin. Jimmy loved it.

pin1.jpg
pin2.jpg

We lost miserably at trivia, but we had fun. After the game, Jimmy went to The Edge. James went up to deck 9 for some snacks, while I went back to our cabin to get cleaned up. I discovered more pixie dust in our Fish Extender.

fe.jpg

Afterward, I searched for a quiet place to read. It was WAY too hot outside and all of the adult areas were jam packed. So, I settled for the Promenade Lounge.

prom.jpg

We all met back at the cabin at 5:30pm to get ready for dinner. Emily brought us each a gift.

hero.jpg

For dinner, we were in Triton's with the Prince and Princess Menu.

d1.jpg

Nicha gave us her best princess pose.

d2.jpg

For an appetizer, Emily had a bowl of French fries.

d3.jpg

Alison had the vegetable lasagna.

d4.jpg

I had the mushroom soup. I usually love mushroom soup, but this one was too salty for me.

d5.jpg

Emily had the duck.

d6.jpg

Jimmy had the shrimp and rice.

d7.jpg

For my salad, I had the coronation of mixed greens.

d9.jpg

For my main course, I had the pork medallions. So good!

d8.jpg

Christopher decided to be a walrus.

d10.jpg

I also ordered the triangoli pasta to try it. It was worth it.

d11.jpg

Don had the Northern Vegetable Turnover.

d12.jpg

James - surprise, surprise - had the steak.

d13.jpg

Jimmy had the turkey dinner.

d14.jpg

Now for dessert.

d15.jpg

All of the kids had the sundae.

d16.jpg

Jimmy had the lemon cheesecake as well.

d17.jpg

I had the flourless chocolate cake

d18.jpg

and the berry cobbler.

d19.jpg

Claudius tried to stump the kids with a magic trick. Once again, he was unsuccessful. These four kids were just too smart (Plus, they'd cruised before and had seen most of the tricks). :jester:

d20.jpg

After dinner, we went to Studio Sea to play The Wheel. Both James and Jimmy were selected to go on stage.

w1.jpg w2.jpg w3.jpg

Our team won the game!

w4.jpg

Then it was on to the evening entertainment. Tonight's main theater performer was John Charles. He was a lot of fun.

rc.jpg rc2.jpg

When John finished, the kids and the adults went our separate ways. James and I went to An Evening of Dance. As usual, we had a wonderful time.

Next, we returned to the main theater to see Voiceplay perform. They were an amazing a cappella group. I couldn't wait to see their family show.

After Voiceplay, James was ready to call it a night. He agreed to collect Emily. Jimmy intended to play midnight dodgeball with The Edge on the sports deck.

I returned to Wavebands for Latin dancing. Brett led me out onto the dance floor to kick off the night. We danced ridiculously. I dipped him. It was a blast.

Jimmy and I both arrived at the cabin wired. So while James and Emily slept, we watched Guardians of the Galaxy on our stateroom TV until we were tired. It was a great night!

ta.jpg

Up next...Pirate Night, aargh!

On Monday 9/5, James and I woke up early because our closet was banging. The ship was really rocking!

951.jpg 952.jpg 953.jpg 954.jpg 955.jpg

We decided to skip breakfast. We were still full from yesterday. Instead, we went to Captain Puckett's lecture. He talked about the building of the new canal. Here are some of the pictures of the leaks its had. I'd be pretty peeved if I'd spent 8 billion dollars for this. Hopefully, its all resolved now.

pu1.jpg pu2.jpg

After the lecture, we stopped by the cabin. The kids were still sleeping so we went to the Promenade Lounge where we joined with the Irelands to play hide and seek with the officers. This was a lot harder than we thought it would be. Other than Peter and Captain Gus, we didn't know what any of them looked like. In the end, we found 3 of them. One group found them all. We were impressed. It was a lot of fun. I would definitely play this game again.

hns1.jpg
hns2.jpg

This time when we went back to the cabin, we woke up the kids. They quickly got around and we returned to the Promenade Lounge. Once again, we collaborated with the Irelands in a game of trivia.
As usual, we lost miserably!

Alison and Lauren joined us for lunch in Triton's. Today's lunch was quick and a little crazy. The kids ordered then ran out to watch the Diaper Dash, which was taking place in the atrium. This is one of Jimmy's favorite events on all of our DCL cruises. He thinks it hilarious! Usually there are several crawling babies that compete. Today, there was only one. So, they had a race between the lone crawling baby and a CM followed by a walking baby race. The kids enjoyed it.

l1.jpg

Jimmy had the children's chicken fingers and the chocolate brownie.

l2.jpg l3.jpg

All of the kids had the gummi bear sundae.

l4.jpg

I had all appetizers. I started with the herring. It was very good.

l5.jpg

Allison had the Greek salad.

l6.jpg

James had the braised beef roulade. He didn't care for it, so he traded it for a ham sandwich.

l7.jpg l8.jpg

Emily and I had the red berries soup. This was my favorite of the cold soups!

l9.jpg

I also had the wild mushroom ragout. The sauce on this was amazing!

l10.jpg

The server accidently screwed up our dessert orders. So, I took the extra desserts (peach cobbler and banana cream pie) to go. Don't worry, they got eaten. Lauren and Emily went back to our cabin later in the afternoon and gobbled them up!

l12.jpg

James and I scampered off to dance class. Willem and Natalia, our instructors, got into the spirit of pirate night.

wn.jpg

While James and I were at dance class, Emily went with the Irelands and got her picture taken with Captain Jack.

p1.jpg p2.jpg

After dance class, I returned to our stateroom to get pirate-ified. Emily and Lauren showed up. Emily got ready and I did both of their make up.

p6.jpg

James collected Jimmy so that he could get ready too. Then we went to the Promenade Lounge for Disney Tune Trivia and Pirate Trivia. The kids grabbed snacks from deck 9 for the game.

p8.jpg
p9.jpg p10.jpg

We were one of five teams that won pirate trivia. Yay! We each won these great prize bags that contained a battery charger, a rain jacket, and two luggage tags.

p11.jpg

In case any of you didn't know, our room hostess, Nerissa, left the bandanas we were wearing on our bed in our room. They were waiting for us after lunch.

pir.jpg

A little pirate art

p12.jpg

After pirate trivia, we went to Studio Sea to play A Pirate's Life For Me. James was selected to be our team's First Mate.

p13.jpg
p14.jpg

We competed in games such as swabbing the deck.

p15.jpg
p16.jpg

and tossing gold coins into the treasure box.

p17.jpg

It was a good time. Here's my crew + our honorary crewmate, Lauren, with CMs Tony and Mia.

p18.jpg

We went straight from the game to dinner in Animator's Palate. Obviously, we had the pirate menu. I'm so bummed to see that they've changed this menu since we've disembarked. As you'll see, we were huge fans of the pot stickers.

d2.jpg p4.jpg p5.jpg
d17.jpg

The featured bread this evening was Johnny Cake aka corn bread.

d1.jpg

Lauren had the kids' pizza.

d3.jpg

For my appetizer, I had the crab cake.
d4.jpg

For my main course, I had a double serving of pot stickers.

d5.jpg

Our table liked the corn bread so much, we ordered a whole basket of it.

d6.jpg

The rest of my family also ordered double pot stickers.

d7.jpg

Allison had the Sunken Vegetable Treasure.

d8.jpg

Emily had the short ribs. These were so good. They will be missed.

d9.jpg

Jimmy had the Treasure of the Seas Shrimp and Scallops.

d10.jpg

James had the Dijon Crusted Sirloin.

d11.jpg

After the main course, we had a limbo parade around the restaurant. I loved all of the mid-dinner entertainment on this cruise.

Dessert time!

d12.jpg

Jimmy had the sundae and a cheesecake that I do not see on the menu.

d13.jpg

We got a berry cobble to share.

d14.jpg

I had the coconut treasure. I love this dessert. I am desperately hoping that they keep it!

d15.jpg

Lauren pulled an Emily and stripped her Mickey Bar naked.

d16.jpg

After dinner, we went to the Walt Disney Theater to see Kyle Knight & Mistie, a pair of magicians. I was called up on stage to verify what the audience was seeing during one of the tricks. I was blown away when it worked. This couple is very talented...and mind-boggling.

km.jpg

From the theater, the kids went to their clubs, while James and I enjoyed twenty minutes of An Evening of Dance. We left early to collect the children and attend the pirate party. We'd seen the pirate show before so we went straight up to deck 10 to get a good spot to watch the fireworks.

p3.jpg pp.jpg pp2.jpg pp3.jpg pp4.jpg

After the fireworks, we went to Beach Blanket Buffet for the pirate feast.

pp27.jpg

Still full from dinner, I saved us a table. The kids and James went straight to the back of the buffet to hit the crepe station.

pp5.jpg

Emily passed on a crepe for a bowl of marshmallows.

pp6.jpg

Lauren got some fruit.

pp7.jpg

Jimmy made a strawberry-banana sundae.

pp8.jpg

James had the mother of all crepes.

pp9.jpg

We had to get a turkey leg. I sampled this. It was moist, smoky, and delicious!

pp10.jpg pp11.jpg pp12.jpg pp13.jpg

Pictures from the buffet.

pp14.jpg pp15.jpg pp16.jpg pp17.jpg pp18.jpg

More pictures of the buffet...

pp19.jpg pp20.jpg pp21.jpg pp22.jpg pp23.jpg pp24.jpg pp25.jpg pp26.jpg

Bellies full, we said goodnight to Lauren and headed back to our stateroom. We had a $50 Disney Visa Onboard Credit (another thing that's now history). We decided to use it on virgin pina coladas in light-up glasses. We enjoyed our drinks while watching TV in our pajamas. It was a great way to end the night.

pp28.jpg

Tonight's towel animal.

ta1.jpg

Next Up...an abundance of chocolate lava cake.

On Tuesday 9/6, I woke a little before 9:30am. I laid in bed and read until it was time for our first activity.

961.jpg 962.jpg 963.jpg 964.jpg 965.jpg

Just after 10am, my family went our separate ways. James and I went to Studio Sea for Art of Entertainment. It was already wall-to-wall people. We were some of the last people to get seats. Why was it so busy? It was Chocolate Lava Cake day!

1.jpg 2.jpg

My whole family loves this dessert. During the Q & A portion of the class, a woman asked if she could have seconds. The chef laughed, but a server carrying a tray full of them brought her another one. We were seated near her so we asked for seconds, too. The CM was happy to oblige. Now this was breakfast!
