Official Disney Cake Chatter - Part V!

I heard back from Pam today at the Grand Floridian, I was a little shocked when she told me that what I wanted was not possible the way that I wanted it. I wanted a two tier cake, a 3 inch and 5 inch or 6, I was going off of something I had seen on a previous Cake Thread. Pam told me the 3 inch was only available in 3 flavor combinations, vanilla with either white chocolate mousse filling or strawberry mousse filling or chocolate with dark chocolate mouse filling. I had wanted chocolate cake with the peanut butter mousse filling. So i settled for vanilla with white chocolate mousse for the 3 inch. The 6 inch because they don't make a 5 inch I had wanted to be chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse filling. Not possible. She said they don't do peanut butter mousse unless a wedding has requested it and they rarely do. So my 6 inch is chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse. I also wanted it in the style of the Mickey Delight fondant cake, but instead of the little Mickey Heads I had hoped for a larger one which I'm pretty sure I had seen on a previous thread, no can do they only have the little one because I had only wanted a total of 15 of them on the cake for my 15th anniversary. Oh and the price $155. I was shocked and surprised but she seemed a little scatter brained and disorganized when she called me today and then to be told I couldn't have my cake the way that I wanted it.

Looking for ideas for a Robin Hood themed cake. Anyone ever done one before?

I got a chocolate mini with PB mousse filling through MK cakes last month with no problem. Any way to switch the ADR where it's being delivered?

seems to me that the people handling the orders don't want to bother the chefs with custome orders but if you have budgest in the hundred dollar or more range they should. Frankly if you are told you can't have what you want, I would thank them and cancel the order, there are plenty of bakeries in orlando area and I would point that out as well. I have heard too many people saying they aren't getting what they want and these guys are supposed to be working for us not the other way around

I will try a different location. I didn't realize, because I was only looking where I had my ADR for the first night of our trip, that I could call Boardwalk and have it delivered to Pop Century where we are actually staying. I will try calling there on Monday and see what they say. I won't be at the Magic Kingdom till after the 15th of December when they are changing how they do cakes.

I was figuring it would be at least $100 maybe a little bit more, and for that I should be able to get exactly what I want. Call me crazy!!!

Call Pop not the Boardwalk. Boardwalk will tell you they don't deliver

yeah you should that's the point. for the amount of money they are charging, they are giving you the customer a hard time and that is rediculous

Will do. Has anyone had success with this? Getting what you want and the way you want it?

Yes! The Contemporary pastry team is easiest to work with, but Yacht & Beach Club and Epcot are also flexible. It's pretty much only the Grand Floridian where the gatekeeper you have to go through at Private Dining refuses to do things the actual pastry chefs are happy to do. The Grand Floridian pastry team makes peanut butter mousse for wedding cakes ALL. THE. TIME! I've spoken to them at the various Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings bridal showcases, and they're always puzzled by what guests are told they can't have when they speak to the Private Dining contact at the Grand Floridian.

We had this cake delivered to Be Our Guest at dinner during our honeymoon. It was delicious (vanilla with white buttercream inside) and gorgeous! It totaled out to $44, and we had only two layers to make it more manageable for 2 people. This was the best part of our dinner at BOG, and it was large enough to share with the table of four next to us since we were too full!

Help! I had been emailing Chef Brian. We got things squared away and I called the contemporary cake line to place my order. I left a message. My call was returned today but DH was listening and I was driving so couldn't step away. The person who returned my call gave me his email address. Unfortunately, I must have taken it down wrong because it keeps me returned as undeliverable. I am sure about the first name and middle initial. Has anyone emailed a Mr. Flater? I thought I spelled it correctly but it may have an I or another t. Also, I wrote down Disney.com but when I called and got the contemporary operator she suggested I try disneyworld.com. It also returned. Any help? Thank you!

If I order a cake from the Contemporary can I just pick it up there and if so where would I pick it up?

What are your favorite cake flavors? The long list has me overwhelmed! I am looking for something a little more light so probably not chocolate. We will have three kiddos eating the cake along with myself and my husband. Thanks!

I say this every time but we love the Bavarian cream with fresh raspberry filling. We usually get it with marble cake but it would be awesome with any number of flavors: chocolate, vanilla, lemon, just about anything will work great and the cream and fresh fruit keeps it fairly light. HTH

If I want to order a birthday cake to be delivered for my daughter at Chef Mickey's, do I contact the Contemporary? I ordered a cake for my son's 5th birthday at Tusker House last year, and it was a nightmare, ultimately ending up with a cake that was nothing like I wanted. I'm just glad I hid the fact from him, and he loved it. Is the Contemporary generally better to work with?

After much deliberation with myself I decided it would be nicer to have the cake delivered to my room. I called the Pop Century today I opted to get an 8 inch chocolate cake with the white chocolate mousse filling covered in fondant with 15 Mickey's stamped on it. Lauren seemed much more organized than Pam at the Grand Floridian, if she didn't know if they could do something she didn't just say "NO" she checked. I truly appreciated it. She made me feel more confident about what I wanted and ordered. I'll let you know how is goes 21 days. If I can figure out how to get a picture on here I will put a picture to show what I got.
