Good morning,
I'm sure this has been asked numerous time, but for those who have the Disney Visa,
what are the major benefits to having one.

We usually take a week long Disney vacation once a year, just trying to decide if we should get the card or not.

Thanks!

Like most credit cards that offer perks, it really depends on how you use it. If you pay it off each month, then it can be worth it. I've had one for years and I'm sure that I've never used it to its fullest. Now that I'm out of debt :cheer2:, I plan on using it more to take advantage of the perks.

Forces us to save for vacation as the rewards can't be just simply cashed out for cash back. We use 2 cards in my house, the Disney Premier (2% back at Disney, restaurants, gas, & grocery) that my wife uses for everything. I use the Amex Blue Cash Preferred that gets 6% back at the grocery store and 3% back on gas and certain stores. Between these 2 cards, we have, typically, $600-$800 back in rewards that get spent on Disney per year. Takes care of food and other things while there, and is like a bonus to us.

Key is to pay off the bill monthly to avoid the interest. Cool perk for some in the 6 month 0% financing on vacation packages.

I have it but I only use it for the discounts on things at WDW and then I immediately pay it off. I also use it to get into Cardmember-only things like free wine during F&W and photo opportunities. We have a really good cash back incentive on another card so it doesn't make sense for us to use the Disney card on a daily basis.

I just want to add that you get 10% off when you use the card to buy on the Shop Parks app.
It was a complete surprise to me but I just ordered some F&G Magic Bands and a few other items and saved 10% on every item(even Tsum Tsums).

As others have mentioned the trick, obviously is to pay it off each month otherwise the interest eats up the benefits.

We used the rewards to pay for parking and food. I also used it to save 10% at the shops in MK.

You can look at all the perks on their website to decide if its worth it for you.

Personally the perks that I find make it worth it are the 0% APR for 6 months when booking vacation packages (which is what I usually do) and earning reward points that I then redeem for the reward card and use for souvenirs at the parks.
I used to also really like the character meet n greet and free photo but now the photo is online vs a hard copy in your hands that day so we don't bother getting it and while we like meeting the characters we don't like that there is a time frame for doing it. If it were from park open to park close we'd do it but we don't like having to make an effort lol.

I really just use it for the discounts and specials now, as mentioned by others above. The 1% earnings used to be common among cards, but now with other no fee cards offering 2% on everything, I am not using the card for everyday charges.

I use the card to make all my purchases and pay the balance off weekly. The points seem to rack up really quick. I just use the "Redemption" card in the park for items that I may not normally splurge on.

There's also the $200 gift card offer if you spend $500 and another $50 if you sign up a 2nd card. We'll pay our trip balance with it and have $250 in gift cards for the trip. Never carrying a balance of course.

I looked at it and opted not to get it.

But, I already have cards that have the same or better % rewards and that aren't limited to JUST Disney stuff. (Costco, Wells Fargo).
The rewards return on the Disney card just isn't big enough to justify getting a 3rd credit card.

So basically it came down to is the Meet and Greet and the $250 gift card for signing up and using it was worth it. I decided no, since I didn't see ever using the credit card every day (like I do with my Costco card). I looked at the Dining discount and the restaurants that let you get a discount was way too limited. (You couldn't get a discount on say a character meal).

If I want a "Disney discount" I just spend the money I would with the credit card and buy Disney Gift Cards at Target (with my Red Card) for an instant 5% discount. I have recently purchased $500 in gift cards at Target but only spent $475 for them. Spend $500 on a Disney credit card and you only get $10 in "rewards".

A gift card purchased at Target is a much simpler and flexible discount in my opinion, so I just went with that.

I would say the "Disney Dollars" is the best benefit. I think it depends on how often you visit. We're once every 4 - 6 years, so in that time I accrue a lot of $$. It's usually enough to cover all our CS meals, and even some snacks and small gift purchases.
If you're into the tours and other special events, it sometimes qualifies you for a discount.

I have the Disney Visa but we prefer the Capital One Venture card because it accumulates points faster and easier, and the points can be used on Disney OR anything else travel related such as flights, etc. There's also no restrictions - you book what you want and then go online, select the item on your statement, and redeem your points on it and it will take it right off your statement. That said, the Disney Visa is good for the discounts when you can use them and also for the no interest on vacation packages.
