Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

I just posted the May activities schedule to Page 1. I didn't notice until I was adding the movies, but there is no campfire listed. I hadn't heard that- I'm just guessing here- there have been a lot of fires in Florida so maybe it is too dry to risk it. Or will they be discontinued permanently?

:confused3
I really hope that they lift the open fire ban and bring back the campfire by the time we arrive on May 19th. I love roasting marshmallows on the beach.

The room was clean, but I was expecting to come back to a room with towels on the bed in the shape of mickey ears at least one of the nights -- do they not do that anymore? :(
Towels animals have been discontinued in all the resorts, although I'm sure that you will hear about a random housekeeping still making one. It has been discontinued for a couple years now. :(

Recently returned from a 6 night stay at BC. The last time I was there was over 20 years ago so it was fun to return! Just a few impressions -- Overall we had a fantastic trip -- SAB can't be beat -- my kids loved the slides and the sand bottom pool! The rooms were nice and clean, beds very comfortable. The mini-fridge surprisingly held quite a lot (we had some groceries delivered). We had a lagoon view, 2 Queens, on the 3rd floor. I requested a full balcony in advance but we did not get one :( We did not mind, though. We were not in the room much and it was pretty hot outside during our stay so not balcony weather :) The complimentary coffee in the room was a nice touch -- and surprisingly good for "instant" coffee. We also enjoyed the complimentary soaps and shampoos which had a lovely scent -- and speaking of scents, the lobby smelled great, just as I remembered from 20 years ago :)
With all that said, a few very minor things were lacking. First, mouse-keeping. The room was clean, but I was expecting to come back to a room with towels on the bed in the shape of mickey ears at least one of the nights -- do they not do that anymore? :( The carpets in the lobby look dated, worn and a little dirty. Time for an update, I think. Our biggest complaint was the wait for the Magic Kingdom buses. 30-40 minutes most of the time, both coming and going. For that reason, we may consider staying at a monorail resort next time. However, the bus for AK always arrived very quickly and the boat to HS was great.
Food at the resort was adequate but certainly could be improved upon.
With all of that said, I want to emphasize that we had an amazing time and would stay there again in a heartbeat! Let me know if you have any questions

This is a great review. So, did your third floor room have the Juliet balcony? I'm wondering what floors get the Juliet, I thought I saw second floor, but wondering if the BC is one of those hotels where they call the first floor you walk in the second floor, etc. I requested large balcony also, wondering what we'll get! I'm concerned about the bus wait time for MK. I like hearing that the AK bus runs well. I'm curious how they'll run when we are there because Pandora will be open! Honestly, even when we did a stay at the WL a couple years ago, and WL is kind of in the closeness to MK, the busses to MK and returning to WL were awful time waits. We had better luck with the boats, and a little more fun taking the boat!

I just found out our DVC points rental request for next March was accepted! I can't believe it as we needed 3 studios so I thought our chances were slim to none. We only had to be on the wait list for less than a month.

We are so thrilled to be staying at BC. It's always been our dream, but out of our budget. We usually always stay at CB and love it there, but with the construction ongoing we decided to try renting points. I am just so thrilled we will ACTUALLY be staying at BC, and I am sure I will be back with lots of questions!!

The Juliet balconies are on all of the floors, except ground floor. The balconies are all mixed up so it is best to just request a full balcony. The first floor is the ground floor and the second floor up one flight of stairs.

The lobby of the Wilderness Lodge was on the second floor, so I can see why you asked that question. ;) We've stayed at the Wilderness Lodge many times and you have to walk downstairs to get to the first floor from the lobby. But the Beach Club is on level ground, so the floors are numbered normally. :)

Had a similar experience with MK. It was so bad that it was actually the only negative thing we tweet at WDWToday. They responded pretty quickly and said it should never be a 30-45 minute wait for a bus but we found that to be the norm at Beach/Yacht for MK buses. It has gotten to a point that when we stay at Beach/Yacht we will Uber to the Contempo some days because of it. The worst part is just how other guests act. We waited for 30 minutes and got in line when the bus pulled up and a family of 7 came barrelling through everyone who waited so they could have a seat. We ended up having to stand even though we were the 2nd family at the bus stop.

We will have our own car. Is it better to just drive to the TTC instead of waiting for the bus?
Probably a wash at best. If you drive you have to find parking, take a shuttle to TTC and then monorail/boat over. I've had longish waits for MK buses at Yacht Club - and will often Uber to MK in the mornings because of the wait - but driving probably isn't much faster, and could be slower, than a bus.

We're booked at the YC on 8/18-8/20 for DS's 3rd birthday! So excited. We were lucky enough to get CRT for his birthday dinner and BOG for dessert and a chance to meet the Beast, his absolute favorite. It's going to be a great time!

I don't think I've ever waited longer than 15 mins for a MK bus at Beach.

Luck of the draw I guess!

Yes, we had the Juliet balcony and it was the true 3rd floor. Ground floor (1st) had the large balconies (patio actually since they are ground level) -- not sure about the other floors. We had a pool/lagoon view and could only see the lagoon.

I agree with above poster, it would probably be a wash if you drove -- by the time you took the boat/monorail from TTC to the front gate. The buses drop you off at the gate which is very convenient.

SO excited! Just booked my return stay at the Yacht Club! We're going December 2-9, 2017. It'll be my son's second visit. Had to sneak 1 more trip in before he turns 2 and will be charged the price of an airline ticket.

Also - the new rooms look nice! Do all of the showers have just stalls, or do some have tubs? Just thinking giving small children a bath may not be easy to do in a shower stall. Forgive me if this question has been asked/answered before :)

OMG! POG beer! I can't wait to hear how it is. I love grapefruit beer and this sounds even better.

:goodvibes

It's got a similar flavor profile. It smells like a tropical-flavored starburst or lifesaver. But it has no sweetness to it, which is good. It's not bad tasting at all. I'm not a huge beer aficionado, so take these comments for what they are. It's a nice, smooth-tasting beer. It really tastes like someone stripped out the sweetness of the juice and added what was left to a nice IPA. Maybe a tad artificial, but I've rarely found a fruity beer that wasn't slightly artificial tasting. I think the passionfruit is the most dominant flavor.

I believe that the rooms with a King bed have the walk-in shower, while some of the rooms with two Queen beds have the walk-in shower and some have the tub with shower head. The best idea is to request a room with a tub, explaining why the tub is important.

That week will be a great time to visit, as all of the Christmas decorations and displays will be in place. The YC's model railroad and the BC's rotating gingerbread carousel will surely catch your little guy's attention!

My husband and I had a two night stay at the Yacht Club last week. We reserved a garden view and I requested upper floor on the online check-in (hoping for a renovated room); I didn't feel like calling in a request for a king bed for our short stay. We got room 4098, which had two queens, a daybed, and a shower. Our room overlooked what would normally be the tennis court, but is a staging/dumpster area for the construction currently. So there was quite a bit of noise starting at 9 am with trucks arriving and back-up beeping. We got warnings about fire alarm tests, possible water outages, and power outages, so we were able to be out of the room at those times.

We loved the newly renovated room, with subtle but noticeable Disney touches and well-executed theming. Neither of us is a fan of the tub/shower combo, so the standalone shower was great. Also, the toilet in the bathroom seemed to be at ADA height which is nice for taller folks like us. The room had plenty of storage with a nicely designed closet with automatic lighting. The refrigerator is smaller than before, but we were able to fit a full gallon jug of water and a six pack of soda bottles. The room had plenty of outlets and USB slots for keeping all those electronics charged. Also, plenty of lighting options including an overhead light (somewhat rare in hotel rooms), sconces above each bed, and swivel reading lights on the beds themselves. Even the bathroom vanity had two lighting options.

Overall, the new Yacht Club room was our second favorite at Disney, losing out only to a 1 bedroom garden wing suite at the Contemporary (our one and only surprise upgrade). Over the years, we've stayed at the Beach Club, the Beach Club Villas, Poly, Wilderness Lodge, and the Dolphin. However, the Beach Club will still be our go-to spot since we love the beach theme and (slightly) closer Epcot location.

Hello! I will be at the BC in early September for my first solo vacation, Disney or otherwise! :) Super excited!

I have a garden view room booked. But I’m trying to decide whether to request ground floor or full balcony. I love to sit outside early in the morning with a book and coffee. And knowing only half of the rooms have full balconies, I thought a ground floor room with a patio would be the ticket.

However, in photos I have viewed, it appears some patios are not very “private.” It looks like the walkways are right there without a hedge or even grass to separate them. I also wonder about security at night (but know Disney is pretty great in that area.)

Does anyone have experience or suggestions about the patios and ground floor rooms? Is this all moot, since it will be too hot to sit outside anyway, even in the mornings? :)
Thanks!

I'd say a good chunk of the patios are not that private at BC, the quietest area is probabaly around the Volleyball court
