Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Re: the bed runners, I thought they also served a purpose - people usually put their suitcases on the bed to pack and unpack. I thought the runners protect the comforter from getting worn and dirty from the suitcases. :confused3 But maybe I just made an assumption?
I would unfold the luggage rack and fold a bed runner so that it would make a little table for things like a hat, piece of clothing or something. It came in handy.

Live from the BCVs a quick update on the SAB shower construction. it is in the final phases of construction and per the CM manning the gates will be turned over within a week pending final inspection. If you're familiar with the restrooms that are adjacent to the pool and next to the arcade, the entrance to the showers is on the right as you enter the foyer area. There are 3 areas/doors; ladies, men's, and the assistance needed one. I took some pictures which I'll post when I get home next week. Off for some pool time now after a morning at MK.

Thank you so much!!!

Enjoy your time at the resort.

I just found out our DVC points rental request for next March was accepted! I can't believe it as we needed 3 studios so I thought our chances were slim to none. We only had to be on the wait list for less than a month.

We are so thrilled to be staying at BC. It's always been our dream, but out of our budget. We usually always stay at CB and love it there, but with the construction ongoing we decided to try renting points. I am just so thrilled we will ACTUALLY be staying at BC, and I am sure I will be back with lots of questions!!

Congrats!

Here is your official :welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for next year.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

We're booked at the YC on 8/18-8/20 for DS's 3rd birthday! So excited. We were lucky enough to get CRT for his birthday dinner and BOG for dessert and a chance to meet the Beast, his absolute favorite. It's going to be a great time!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15

Sounds like a fantastic celebration trip.

:cool1:

SO excited! Just booked my return stay at the Yacht Club! We're going December 2-9, 2017. It'll be my son's second visit. Had to sneak 1 more trip in before he turns 2 and will be charged the price of an airline ticket.

Also - the new rooms look nice! Do all of the showers have just stalls, or do some have tubs? Just thinking giving small children a bath may not be easy to do in a shower stall. Forgive me if this question has been asked/answered before :)

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

We are still trying to get a handle on which rooms have tubs and which do not. As others have suggested, make sure a request for a tub is added as a request to your reservation.

My husband and I had a two night stay at the Yacht Club last week. We reserved a garden view and I requested upper floor on the online check-in (hoping for a renovated room); I didn't feel like calling in a request for a king bed for our short stay. We got room 4098, which had two queens, a daybed, and a shower. Our room overlooked what would normally be the tennis court, but is a staging/dumpster area for the construction currently. So there was quite a bit of noise starting at 9 am with trucks arriving and back-up beeping. We got warnings about fire alarm tests, possible water outages, and power outages, so we were able to be out of the room at those times.

We loved the newly renovated room, with subtle but noticeable Disney touches and well-executed theming. Neither of us is a fan of the tub/shower combo, so the standalone shower was great. Also, the toilet in the bathroom seemed to be at ADA height which is nice for taller folks like us. The room had plenty of storage with a nicely designed closet with automatic lighting. The refrigerator is smaller than before, but we were able to fit a full gallon jug of water and a six pack of soda bottles. The room had plenty of outlets and USB slots for keeping all those electronics charged. Also, plenty of lighting options including an overhead light (somewhat rare in hotel rooms), sconces above each bed, and swivel reading lights on the beds themselves. Even the bathroom vanity had two lighting options.

Overall, the new Yacht Club room was our second favorite at Disney, losing out only to a 1 bedroom garden wing suite at the Contemporary (our one and only surprise upgrade). Over the years, we've stayed at the Beach Club, the Beach Club Villas, Poly, Wilderness Lodge, and the Dolphin. However, the Beach Club will still be our go-to spot since we love the beach theme and (slightly) closer Epcot location.

:welcome: to posting on the thread.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the very detailed description about your room.

Were you able to get the water in without doing anything special or did you have to remove a shelf? I am trying to get a feel for the size and capacity of the fridge.

Hello! I will be at the BC in early September for my first solo vacation, Disney or otherwise! :) Super excited!

I have a garden view room booked. But I’m trying to decide whether to request ground floor or full balcony. I love to sit outside early in the morning with a book and coffee. And knowing only half of the rooms have full balconies, I thought a ground floor room with a patio would be the ticket.

However, in photos I have viewed, it appears some patios are not very “private.” It looks like the walkways are right there without a hedge or even grass to separate them. I also wonder about security at night (but know Disney is pretty great in that area.)

Does anyone have experience or suggestions about the patios and ground floor rooms? Is this all moot, since it will be too hot to sit outside anyway, even in the mornings? :)
Thanks!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the list.

I don't think I would like the ground floor patios. My recommendation to you is to request a full balcony.

::yes::

Could you change ours? We are now doing a split stay between YC/GF so we will be at YC July 7-10. Thank you!

Will do!

:thumbsup2

Dee, can you please make a small change to our info on the Be Our Guest List? We are now staying BC Club Level (first time staying CL, we are stoked!).

EDIT: I mistyped earlier - we are staying at Yacht Club CL, not BC CL. Sorry @natebenma!
TIA!

Got it!

No worries, just getting to this post now.

:cool2:

I just returned from a week a the Yacht Club on Sunday. The globe in the lobby hadn't been returned as of the day I left (two days ago from this post). But I have some additional information on the status of the globe.

*snip*

Thanks so much for the intel about the globe!

We did have to move the shelves around a bit, into the two uppermost slots. It was actually easier to fit the gallon jug into the new fridge vs. other mini-fridges, because there's nothing poking out from the door, and you don't lose any space to a freezer compartment. Other times we've had to put gallon jugs on their side to fit, depending on exactly where the compressor is and how the shelves sit.

Here are Beach Club Villas, and the power in the hall is out. It's still on in the rooms and Laundry room. Don't know about the lobby, I might go exploring with my flashlight.

Power is back on, no exploring in the dark for me :sad1:

:welcome: to posting on the thread!

Thanks for letting us know about the temporary power outage. Hope it wasn't too disruptive for you.

:goodvibes

:cool1: It's official! Found a great deal on a room (even though it wasn't YC - I'm not terribly upset); kids are squared away with grandparents...DH and I are headed back to BC, just the two of us! We'll be there 9/13 (my birthday) - 9/17. So excited!

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

:cool1:

Can I assume the laundry equipment accepts magic bands?

Thanks!

:welcome: to the thread!

As others have indicated, currently credit card only for the laundry machines.

::yes::

We stayed at BC for our first time this past March. While I normally just lurk over on this board I wanted to pass along my thanks to all of you who post much more frequently than I do! The tips and information I received here were beyond valuable and really helped to make our trip successful.

*snip*

Thank you so much for the very detailed report and pictures! So glad you loved the resort!

:thumbsup2

I am still pinching myself. This feels like a dream!! Our fifth floor view! Such an incredible surprise!!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Congratulations on the upgrade. I agree- fabulous view!

:cheer2:

My guess is people are stealing them. They are thin and fold up small...easy to take home to remind people of their stay. I can't think of any other reason why they are suddenly removing them.

:welcome: to the thread!

On our way back to the YC club level Dec 8-11, after we cruise the Dream. My Dh and I loved our surprise upgrade to club level last year and can't wait to go back...

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

That's my understanding as well. And if you take a little rest, the feet go on the runner instead of on the bedding. Easy to clean those small runners. I like bed runners.

AP holders - are there often AP discounts for YC? We have a 9 night family trip planned for June 2018 and I just decided to go for 3 nights in February with my cousin as she's running the princess half. I'm debating about getting an AP, if I can get a good deal for our June trip that will seal the deal!

So, before we were upgraded to club level; we had placed a grocery order. We have a 32 case of Dasani water. Is anyone here right now that would make use of it? We get Dasani in our room and I would hate to waste it!

If you're still there on Wednesday and haven't found other takers, we'd be interested in at least some of it!

YC has been included in AP discounts (it is now for June). But you can't always get only 3 days - at least I've noticed that for June (i.e., when I try for 7 nights, it shows availability, but not for 3 or 4). Secret minimum night stays, if you will (most hotels do this, to not leave "orphan" dates - something like that. You can check past release dates at mousesavers.

Woohoo. Just changed our standard room BC to standard room CL. So excited. We will be there 8/15-8/23. I can't wait! Does anyone know if all CL rooms have a full balcony? So exc. I've been back and forth over this splurge for months. The room opened up and I jumped on it.

My friend and I just booked shampoos and blowouts at the Beach Club salon for before our Le Cellier dinner! Very excited!! Anyone use the spa or salon services before?!

No, not all CL rooms have full balconies

Thanks! I'm praying for a full balcony. We love to just sit on thr balcony and relax, especially with a beer or glass of wine in hand from the club lounge!
