Chicago Cubs fans - Rebuilding Year 2023

I'm guessing no chance he was willing to take the lucky bracelet along on his road trip? lol

Ty Burrell from Modern Family was at last night's game, maybe he is there again tonight your DH will see him...I mean, he fist pumped Rossy's ring, it could happen!
Oh shoot! I should have sent it with him to carry in his pocket. I'll send a photo of it instead.

I sure did enjoy the first half of the game, lol. Way to go Riz! What an amazing 2 games for him . I could be wrong, but I don't think Dex has LO homers in b2b games, lol .Definitely not in his FIRST 2 LO games I'm sure Anthony knows that stat. That smile was fantastic..and then Happ repeats, lol. Schwarbs crushed his...making sure no way he gets robbed like last night. I was wishing we didn't get Harvey out as quickly as we did tho~Monty did ok and boy was I hoping he'd get his first W after he has done so well for us. CJ, Pedro, Hector? Maybe a little too much Pedro BDay/ NYC enjoyment? Zobie going on the DL not good news, along with Kyle'S finger and Jakes thumb..can we suit up our new drafties right away? Hopefully the Pirates series cures our road trip woes. Loved seeing the guys fired up in the first few innings tho!

Well, the first 7 1/2 innings were good.
Seriously...and Rizzo 3 for 3 on LO homers if you include his spring training game this year~ I feel a little competition brewing between him and Dex lol. Right now, Rizzo has the title for all 3 LO getting a HR...but Dex has the 7th game of the WS title ;)

KB seems a bit out of sorts with the g(Happ) between him and Rizzo

I wish those pesky Brewers would tank, soon

me thinks it's KB's turn for the scheduled day off, which is nice when it's following a reg day off.

Whew!!!!!

And I still have all my fingernails!

lol, I see what you did there :thumbsup2
WHAT A 9TH! Jay...my word..he is WICKED DANGEROUS off the bench! Rizzo , omg 1 ft (if that) of going 4/4! Send that ball swimming!
Eddie..man...you pitched a great game. Pick off and base hit...to me, you get the win.
So, we have scoring in the 1 st and 9th down...now to get the 7 innings in between.
Willy, I know you were thinking keep the lead runner from scoring but that cost Wade a bunch of pitches. Won't have him tomorrow now. HOWEVER....you are forgiven as you got 3 of our runs in (or was it 4?)
JHey's defense AGAIN tonight :worship:

Schwarber's slide at home..it was as if it was in slow mo..but he was so graceful in his swim move, lol.
KB didn't get his full night off..matter of fact Joe got more time off than Kris, lol

WE NEVER QUIT!!!!!!!!!

back to the Bonnie and Clyde of Rizzo's LO homer tonight, Hats off to Joe for fighting so hard for Anthony

http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/anthony-rizzo-in-leadoff-spot-again-tonight-for-cubs/

“Anthony had a chance probably to go in the record books for all-time,” Maddon said.

The result was a “call stands” ruling, which by definition means the replay was inconclusive — which set Maddon off.

“I would have been fine with ‘confirmed,’ ” he said. “It ‘stands,’ which means they couldn’t tell. If it had remained a home run it would have
been a home run.

Joe also says that the first base umpire was insistent it was a home run the whole way. So the overturn of the home run call may not have been as much of a consensus that the commentariat seemed to assume.

It's almost like they didn't want him to get the record...

Ya think? That's why Joe fought so hard. Once I read the first base Ump still disagreed and a bunch of comments on the camera angle I was like, hang on...
well here's tonight's lineup.
I sure hopes the cut on Jake's thumb is a non issue. Yes, his throwing hand .
Unfortunately Zobie has seen Nova the most (used to be a Yankee) and has gotten hits off of him. JHey and Miggy might knock on his door. I would like to see this Jake tonight, please and thank you

Cubs are gonna win!

200.webp
nope, no you don't.

The irony of cold bats when the players are all sweating buckets lol. The Brewers get beat by the Padres so a W would have been really, really nice. STL got pummeled~ so all standing remain the same except for the Pirates. Ya kinda got a bad feeling from the very first batter Jake faced and the bobbled ball, ending with that lucky grab off JHey's line drive in he 9th. However, nice homers by Arrieta and Addie, nice defense by JHey and Happ and Pedro put up a zero!
Hope they are serving meatloaf tomorrow

I hope Jake gets Ian's favorite cheese steak for him for keeping his ERA below .500

Happy Father's Day to all the Cub Fans out there!
I sure hope the W flag gets to fly for you today :D

Today's lineup...no KB or Schwarb's or Addie (turned his ankle last night, plus he's 0-7 against Taillon) but Riz still our LO guy! Willy in the 3 spot..it was a year ago yesterday we saw him make his Big League debut at Wrigley and he's not stopped since! Anxious to see if Rizzo still growing out the LO beard or if it was just a "won't shave while I'm hitting LO home runs" kinda thing.
Big John usually give up a homer or 2, hoping that doesn't happen. This lineup *should* be able to do some action, need to do it early. Hope we aren't just giving one away to the Buc's

Rizzo kinda legendary at this lead off stuff...almost had the cycle today! Great game by Lackey, Willy's bat was on fire, Jay awesome again and Happ gets his 8th homer in from of his hometown family and friends! His first right handed one! Hoping JHey's hand is ok, Addies ankle ok as well...We have won on every Sunday in June...can we adjust the schedule to Sundays only? lol More importanly, A series W today and back to .500! Come on Padre's..beat those Brewers in like, 18 innings and come into Wrigley nice and tired :rolleyes1
