I think you mean eschewing. But yeah, I totally get it. My mother is one of those anti- TV people. I actually have yet to date a guy like that. Maybe because I haven't dated a true hipster for long. I'm all for other people being Vegans or vegetarians or pescatarians or organic only, as long as they don't attempt to make me see the light over my evil ways of steak and Oreos. That is strangely hard for the local species of hipster to refrain from.I love veggies, and cows are cute, but cows also happen to be delicious. I actually had one guy tell me that I would change my mind if I visited a farm and met a live pig. No. No, I wouldn't. My cousin's ffa pigs were all smart, handsome beasties and they became really fabulous bacon.
Believe me, I've tried to work out the ceiling conundrum. The ceiling is the leading contender of space I can put it. It would be dead over the couch, and I would be totally ok with laying flat on my back to watch. But I have yet to work out how to secure it properly. It needs to be secure enough that I don't worry about it braining me, and look good enough that my landlord won't come up with a reason to outlaw the tv ceiling solution. My neighbors are largely college kids and I think he gives me a lot of slack because I'm not one of them. I mean he'll judge me if I do it, but he won't make me take it down if I do it well.
My friends who live in the suburbs or in Idaho don't have this kind of dilemma. They moan about closet size and bathroom number while I'm just wishing I had actual closets and normal sized cupboards.why am I still here??
Oh. Right. Because there is actual stuff to do that doesn't involve driving or crap roadside bars. NOW I remember...

Fresh from the farm bacon, is the BEST bacon. Yeah, I love fair trade coffee - and irish whisky, and kettle chips, and locally sourced produce, AND hot chicken, ie, fast food. Its weird, but I like what I like. I find people who aren't cool with my laissez-faire attitude about such things. And god, people have opinions about TV...to the point that I'm obviously defensive about it. They're probably going to kick me out of here soon because I don't own any vinyl or ANY physical music anymore and have vastly reduced my books.
I hope you can make it work. I think if you did, you'd have won urban living. Ceiling TV could be the BEST TV.
I have a huge closet, and a spare walkin in my master, AND I can walk to pretty much everything I want, but its a small bit of the city. A lot of Nashville is not for me. You should see our "judgmental map" - its SO spot on. I can walk to the farmer's market and the organic produce place and the butcher, OTOH, if I need just normal groceries like once a month I have to go the "murder Kroger." I live in one of the most expensive areas of town...so, its still a mixed bag.
