BEST. DAY. EVER. May '17 w/Chunkymonkey and Chubbyhubby NEW 8/28 x2 THE END!!

Oh that's sooo cool! Which design do you have? I have thought about getting a case like that. Just too cute!

IMG_1592.jpg

Here is my phone case! It looks so tiny, can you even see it?? I think I need to work on directly uploading pictures here, lol!!

YES! Troublemaker party! We should set up a little DISBoard ladies trip sometime in the future. The DIS-LADIES take over WDW!

I'm not sure Disney could handle all of us at once :rotfl:It would definitely be a takeover! So fun!

Funny to say I had listed Dole Whip and Fantasmic! as my favorite snack and show respectively, but we didn't get Dole Whip or see Fantasmic! on this trip.

This made me laugh! For me it would be Illuminations and School Bread, didn't get to either in May! (although Wishes is the true favorite...I'm still clinging to Parade of Nations at Epcot, which is why I feel so partial to Illuminations. But it's the most skipped for me for some reason!)

Our breakfast started with a platter of pastries. I love how it's served in a mini cast iron frying pan, a la Rapunzel. The theme of these desserts are really clever. The sun cookie was a crisp puff pastry cookie, and there was a pastry resembling a clamshell/oyster complete with a pearl. Loved the theme of these, and they tasted pretty good, better than what you'd get at Be Our Guest.

I think this is SO CUTE!! A special little Disney touch, I love it.

This one was a chocolate cigar type pastry that was quite good!

These are my favorite pastries at breakfasts. It's the one I HAVE to eat at BOG, and I even got one from the Boma buffet. I love them, and they always taste fresh, even if they really aren't. That's one Disney secret I do not need to know, LOL!

you are given a choice of fruit salad or yogurt parfait as a starter.

I love this, too! The parfait looks really good.

Glancing at this quickly, I saw the shelf above his head and thought for some reason he was wearing a mortar board, but couldn't for the life of me think of WHY that would be, and then I realized it was the shelf and he was NOT graduating from anything :rotfl2: I feel so dumb :rotfl:

I ordered the Royale Breakfast: Oak-Grilled Steak, Cheesy Egg Torte, Asparagus, Crispy Onions and Roasted Potatoes

Yes! Entree number one that I was interested in! The potato/onion thing sounds good, and I agree the steak looks like it needs more sear, but at least it was cooked correctly! That's always my fear with steak. I'm sorry the torte thing was weird, boo!

DH got the Tangled Eggs: Tomato & Basil Scrambled Eggs, Fresh Mozzarella, Sunday Gravy and Roasted Potatoes.

Two for two! This was the other entree I was curious about. This sounds really good to me!!

I'll give you a clue: He uses antlers in all of his decorating!

My what a guy :lovestruc

Your review of the Bon Voyage Breakfast made me want it even more! I have no idea when, but somehow I need to do this!

The breakfast sounds great! I want to try it sometime, but I don't think I'll have time during my October trip. Hopefully by my July trip I'll have some time to!

And lol! I do spreadsheets too. People don't appreciate them until they realize how much they help!!!

That looks like such a fun breakfast. I struggle with booking breakfast reservations since I hate to miss a rope drop and it's so easy to eat breakfast in our room, but that looks like a good one! Maybe one day when my kids are a little older and not up at the crack of dawn we will spend our mornings a bit differently.

Yeah us too I struggle with breakfast reservations and would prefer to eat in the park unless it's really close by hence this was perfect for us!

Your review of Ohana has me totally convinced to try it out for dinner, though! We have never done it and hope to book it for our March trip.

Ohana never lets me down!

all caught up and joining in :)

Thank you for reading and welcome!!

t's so nice when your breakfast location is in your hotel! We plan to stay at the Beach Club for F&G 2019 (I know that's far away), but hopefully it will still be there and similar and we can get a reservation then! The choices looked great.

It's never too early to plan! I am totally visiting in 2019, mainly because...SW Land! And might as well throw in some Food and Wine while we're at it.

I was really curious about the Sunday Gravy, but then your comment above got me to realize that in Lisa Scottoline's books there is an Italian character whose mother always has "gravy" on the stove. And that's exactly what it is.

Yes Sunday gravy is like those sauces that simmer forever on Sundays with all the leftovers of the week...we get a lot of that in NYC and NJ (lots of red-sauce Italian joints) but surprisingly there was not much Sunday gravy on the omelette. Didn't really need it though but I'm sure it would have been good with more on.

Good to know that you can substitute regular eggs, but what I liked about the menu was there were a number of choices without eggs. I don't like the way other people cook them for me, so I usually skip them eating out.

Oh interesting! The pancakes look really good but the pastries were enough sweet for breakfast and so I balanced it out with savory.

Your meet and greet photos are so cute and the dinglehopper was a great idea! Flynn was definitely a good match for his character!

Thanks! Flynn and Prince Eric were better than I expected. They were nice and chatty too which broke the ice.

Wow, that was quite the fancy breakfast! I love when you see characters like that that you don't normally see in meet and greets around the parks. It's always fun to see Mickey in all his different outfits of course but when you do a character breakfast I think it makes it more special when it's characters that you don't normally see out and about.

I do love the rare characters too. It's like when we went to DLR and saw Koda at the breakfast at Grand Californian. So much fun and I can check them off the character bucket list. :thumbsup2

Wow, glad I snagged one for the last morning of our trip! Have you tried the Touring Plans Reservation Finder for it?

I have been meaning to but it's not really on my priority list since we already did it this year. And I never seem to be able to make an ADR whenever I get a notification. It's probably because I'm too late and someone has already snatched ADRs up by that time.

I kept looking at this, trying to figure out what he had on his head, before realizing it was the shelf on the wall. :rotfl:

Hahaha you and @xlsm both said something! I didn't realize it but I guess I knew he wasn't wearing something on his head so it's a different perspective!
:rotfl2: Some people just don't understand that the planning is what makes it a vacation vs. a torture chamber of standing in long lines in August heat all day long.

Exactly!! :thumbsup2

Hi Alyssa! Happy to see you here again! Hope wedding planning is going well :)
It's... going! Haha, we hit a few snags, but they're mostly worked out now. Just little details to go!

Haha whenever I try to play bag tetris and I have to dig deep to find something, everything crumbles and I can never get it back in it's place perfectly after the first time. LOL. Big bags for me, please!
I usually end up charging my phone or camera with the external battery when we eat at a TS, and I swear I have to repack the bag before we leave :rotfl:

MUST. GET. DISNEY. POPCORN. BUCKET.
That is my advice to you, hehehe.
Will do! popcorn::

I love his prints. I have a few of them, and I love them all. I would love to put up a gallery wall but I have a fear of commitment to my walls. I can't seem to want to nail anything in them, hahaha.
Me too! I finally did a small one, but I don't have any more room right now, and no room to add to it... the main reason I've been able to turn down the prints. Though I'm really upset with myself that I didn't get a few from the Festival of the Arts, that were at the little booths. That's just a reason to go back next year, right?

It was so adorable, I'd serve everything out of a cast iron skillet if they weren't so heavy.
I think the trick for us is, put cast iron skillet on table, and then carry everything over and set inside :rotfl2:

Here is my phone case! It looks so tiny, can you even see it?? I think I need to work on directly uploading pictures here, lol!!

I LOOOVE it!! I would totally get that if I didn't need a giant mirror stuck to my phone case. I find it really useful, you know seeing if something is in your teeth before you talk to a character and to fix any stray lipstick. :cutie: #imsovain

I'm not sure Disney could handle all of us at once :rotfl:It would definitely be a takeover! So fun!

We should all get matching tanks and ears! OMG it just sounds like so much fun already!

This made me laugh! For me it would be Illuminations and School Bread, didn't get to either in May! (although Wishes is the true favorite...I'm still clinging to Parade of Nations at Epcot, which is why I feel so partial to Illuminations. But it's the most skipped for me for some reason!)

I would have put Illuminations too, but I figured the characters would maybe talk about Fantasmic more than Illuminations. But now I know they don't really read them anyways. Haha. I know what you mean about Parade of Nations...it reminds me of my childhood, therefore I love Illuminations for the nostalgia factor. :)

These are my favorite pastries at breakfasts. It's the one I HAVE to eat at BOG, and I even got one from the Boma buffet. I love them, and they always taste fresh, even if they really aren't. That's one Disney secret I do not need to know, LOL!

They do always taste fresh! Even Disney preservatives are magical :rotfl:

Glancing at this quickly, I saw the shelf above his head and thought for some reason he was wearing a mortar board, but couldn't for the life of me think of WHY that would be, and then I realized it was the shelf and he was NOT graduating from anything :rotfl2: I feel so dumb :rotfl:

HAHAHA both you and @Dugette said something and I wouldn't have noticed until you guys pointed it out to me, LOL. I'm sure a bunch of people probably thought WTH is on his head?!? :rotfl:

Yes! Entree number one that I was interested in! The potato/onion thing sounds good, and I agree the steak looks like it needs more sear, but at least it was cooked correctly! That's always my fear with steak. I'm sorry the torte thing was weird, boo!

I did enjoy this a lot despite the egg torte but I probably wouldn't have eaten that much eggs since the steak and potatoes were filling!

Your review of the Bon Voyage Breakfast made me want it even more! I have no idea when, but somehow I need to do this!

I hope you get to do this one day!

The breakfast sounds great! I want to try it sometime, but I don't think I'll have time during my October trip. Hopefully by my July trip I'll have some time to!

And lol! I do spreadsheets too. People don't appreciate them until they realize how much they help!!!

It was a fun new experience for us. I wouldn't bend over backwards to book it but I'm really happy I got to meet Flynn Rider and Prince Eric, whom I have never met before. Hope you get to make it in July!

And yes, the spreadsheets are a must, especially as the planner, it helps us just figure out what's in store for the day. I pretty much look at it every morning to get a big picture view of the day, and then the rest of the day I use the app mostly.

Oh I'm counting on it!

Haha, get ready for the #snoozefest :coffee:

It's... going! Haha, we hit a few snags, but they're mostly worked out now. Just little details to go!

I'm excited for your wedding!

I usually end up charging my phone or camera with the external battery when we eat at a TS, and I swear I have to repack the bag before we leave :rotfl:

I know! I pull out my sunglasses and then want to put them back in before a ride, and there's no room for them. Where did that space go?!? LOL

Though I'm really upset with myself that I didn't get a few from the Festival of the Arts, that were at the little booths. That's just a reason to go back next year, right?

Definitely! That festival of the Arts sounds really cool. I'd love to go one year, maybe just to get Maruyama prints, hehehe.

I think the trick for us is, put cast iron skillet on table, and then carry everything over and set inside :rotfl2:

Good idea!! Work around the skillet!

I have got to stop reading people's dining reports-always make me want to try everything LOL! I am thinking about cancelling our PPO Tusker house though, just don't think I will get the fam up that early. Have never done a PPO ADR before-have 2 so far in August (thinking was up early before the heat/masses hit). Just found out CM's get 40% off Garden grill so keeping that one if DD can join us.

Add me to the list of thinking planning is essential-especially for August heat!

Loving the pictures!

May 6th Part 2: Everyone's Favorite Guy and Magical Encounters

After our Bon Voyage breakfast, we changed, headed out of the Boardwalk and hopped onto a bus for Magic Kingdom. When we arrived we saw the AP line was insanely long, whereas every other line was shorter. It somehow astounded me that people would continue to wait in the AP line when they could just go on a much shorter regular line. #confused

But, we were not one of those people and got on a shorter line to enter the park. It still befuddles me to this day.

We got a few PP pics at the MK sign. It was a glorious weather day, barely a cloud in the sky, no humidity (aka good hair day), and 70 degrees. I wish every day was like this! (Please please please let there be a cold spell in August #wishfulthinking).

Looks like a pretty crowded day at MK (it was Saturday after all). Thank goodness we had FP+!

Originally I had FP+ for these three rides: PP, 7DMT, and BTMRR, but Steve had a hankering to ride Jungle Cruise so I swapped out PP for Jungle Cruise the day before, therefore our first stop was Adventureland!

Hmm, I'm glad we were having lunch at Tiffins instead of the Crew Mess. I mean everything sounds great except for the...chicken. How boring.:rotfl:

Let me just say, riding Jungle Cruise when it's not at 98% humidity was a joy! Our skipper was awesome too! :thumbsup2

We then went on on one of our favorite MK rides, 7DMT! I silently hum "heigh-ho heigh-ho, its off to work we go" when I go to work everyday. Wait, everyone does this, right?

After Mine Train we headed over to meet Steve's man-crush...GASTON! Steve never mentions a favorite character so it astounded me when he requested a Gaston shirt for the Princess 5k. And now he owns about 5 of them. :rotfl:
We've never met him before due to his long lines but we've always watched his interactions with much amusement. Since we didn't get a chance to on our first day at MK, we decided today had to be the day! When we got there, however, his line was super long, as expected. The CM manning the line told us to come back in 20 minutes as the line was closed right now, but a new line will start up soon. So we took a break in Gaston's Tavern and got one of the most refreshing snacks I know: a Lefou's Brew!

We just sat in Gaston's for a little bit before heading back outside, and wouldn't ya know...when we returned to Gaston's meet n greet spot, we were FIRST on line! That like, never happens for me.

As Gaston came, out he drew even more of a crowd as he walked over to his spot. He just reveled in all the glory, as usual.

When he approached us, he asked us where we were from. We said "New York". He said "That's cool. I have no idea where that is."

He saw my Lefou's Brew and said it's the "best stuff on earth. But Le Fou is whatevs."

Literally everything that came out of his mouth was hilarious. Of course it being 3 months later, I don't remember everything he said, but I knew it was funny (hence my expression above). I wish I took video but I was just kinda too distracted.

DH was like "You're our favorite guy!"

Really? I cringed a little inside. :rotfl:

Don't tell DH, he'll be crushed.

Of course we didn't get Zac Efron-lookalike Gaston but this guy was pretty charismatic in his own right.
And those eyebrows, he may have Prince Charming beat.

(please excuse my double chin selfie!)

As we departed, we said: "Bye Gaston!"
Gaston: "Whatevs"

Such a fun meet n greet. I want to do it again!

As we were leaving, a magical encounter happened. :wizard:

I was approached by two lovely ladies whom I had never met before. They told me they read the DISBoards and gushed that they are huge fans of my trip reports! Wait, me?!? :o I was stunned and also really touched by their kindness and sweet gesture. We spent a bit of time chatting with them, and I told them I really really really appreciate them reading my reports and for coming up and saying hi. It really meant the world to me and made my day extra special. :grouphug:

We had to commemorate with a picture in front of Gaston's Tavern, of course.

So thank you Amber and Jess (Or was is Ashley and Jess? I really hope I'm getting your names right because in my giddiness I forgot to write it down so this is all from my semi-poor memory so I'm sorry if I am butchering your names, but please let me know and I will correct it!) for taking the time to say hi! It was really nice meeting you and I hope you had an awesome time at WDW. Hopefully our paths will cross again on another trip!

UPDATE: It IS Amber and Jess!!

If you didn't know already:

:disrocks: :disrocks: :disrocks:

BTW, if you do see me, please stop me and say hi! I obviously don't bite, (but I occasionally act like a small child), and I love meeting other DISboarders!

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Still excited about my 10 seconds of DISboard fame, we headed to use our last FP+ of the day, at another favorite, BTMRR!

There was a PP photographer again as we got off the ride so we obliged and we got the Woody and Jessie magic shot.

We had to go catch an express bus to AK now, so we walked over to Tomorrowland.

But first, Popcon.

OK so back to Tomorrowland....

Wow the line for Space was long! Who knew it would be so packed.

And even the much beloved Peoplemover had a line. This is rare so there was some CM pointing out the end of the line.

Luckily we were not here to partake in that. We had a bus to catch!

Coming up Tiffins Lunch, and a glorious evening in Epcot!

I really love both, but Garden Grill is special because you don't have to deal with a buffet and characters. So it's more relaxing and kinda nice. Plus Soarin is right there so it's very easy to hop on line first thing.

Add me to the list of thinking planning is essential-especially for August heat!

Loving the pictures!

Planning is essential but I know not everyone enjoys it. (my sisters, LOL)

Thanks!

Oh my gosh I would fan-girl so hard if I saw you in the parks!! Haha, that sounded a little stalker-ish :earseek::rolleyes1

Oh Gaston......he's such a kick! Sounds like you two had a fab interaction with him :flower1:

When we arrived we saw the AP line was insanely long, whereas every other line was shorter. It somehow astounded me that people would continue to wait in the AP line when they could just go on a much shorter regular line. #confused

This!! I saw this happen on a couple of our last trips too, and I couldn't believe people would wait in a longer line just for the AP entrance. The point of it is supposed to be to skip a longer line. You'd never go to the 1-10 items line at the grocery store if it was long and the other cashiers had no line! Maybe people think their APs won't work in a regular turnstile or something? No idea.

It was a glorious weather day, barely a cloud in the sky, no humidity (aka good hair day), and 70 degrees. I wish every day was like this! (Please please please let there be a cold spell in August #wishfulthinking).

Oh my gosh, PLEASE! Hahah

I'm not holding my breath though...

Let me just say, riding Jungle Cruise when it's not at 98% humidity was a joy! Our skipper was awesome too! :thumbsup2

A good skipper absolutely makes this ride! <3

When he approached us, he asked us where we were from. We said "New York". He said "That's cool. I have no idea where that is."

Bahaha :rotfl:

As we were leaving, a magical encounter happened. :wizard:

I was approached by two lovely ladies whom I had never met before. They told me they read the DISBoards and gushed that they are huge fans of my trip reports! Wait, me?!? :o I was stunned and also really touched by their kindness and sweet gesture.

How cool to be recognized and have a spontaneous Dismeet! You're like a celebrity!

But, we were not one of those people and got on a shorter line to enter the park. It still befuddles me to this day.
People are so weird.

We just sat in Gaston's for a little bit before heading back outside, and wouldn't ya know...when we returned to Gaston's meet n greet spot, we were FIRST on line! That like, never happens for me.
Yes!!

DH was like "You're our favorite guy!"

Really? I cringed a little inside. :rotfl:

Don't tell DH, he'll be crushed.
:rotfl2:

Wait, me?!? :o I was stunned and also really touched by their kindness and sweet gesture. We spent a bit of time chatting with them, and I told them I really really really appreciate them reading my reports and for coming up and saying hi. It really meant the world to me and made my day extra special. :grouphug:

That's it, someday I will meet you and get your autograph, because by then you will be a Disboard superstar. :worship:

So we took a break in Gaston's Tavern and got one of the most refreshing snacks I know: a Lefou's Brew!

We've never tried this! Perhaps it will go on our MK to do list! (Along with another snack I don't think I've ever had at Disney- the popcorn!)

Also, your outfits are always so cute! I love your bright skirt and Beauty and the Beast top!

You're so right about the Passholder line :rotfl:
Another cute outfit
Glad Steve got to meet up the Gaston great pictures
That's so sweet about your unexpected DIS meet :goodvibes

Fun Update! The M & G with Gaston looked fun!

I really liked the LeFou's Brew on our last trip, I wasn't overly thrilled with that foam but the drink itself was good

So cool you had a surprise DISmeet!

Your Gaston meet sounds so fun! He seems really popular now that the word got out how entertaining he is.

There was a PP photographer again as we got off the ride so we obliged and we got the Woody and Jessie magic shot.

Why does Jessie look so creeped out by Woody?

I LOOOVE it!! I would totally get that if I didn't need a giant mirror stuck to my phone case. I find it really useful, you know seeing if something is in your teeth before you talk to a character and to fix any stray lipstick. :cutie: #imsovain

I have never kept a phone case this long, ever. This one has made it over a year, which is pretty incredible for me. It's getting kind of loose on my phone, and I find myself playing with it all the time, slipping it off and on at the corner and it hits the switch and turns my phone on silent 99% of the time, so I miss calls and texts pretty regularly, LOL!

We should all get matching tanks and ears! OMG it just sounds like so much fun already!

Yessss!!!

Even Disney preservatives are magical :rotfl:

I noticed this too...I think I only got to use the fancy schmancy AP entrance once because the regular lines were all shorter!

So cute! I love your outfit!

I silently hum "heigh-ho heigh-ho, its off to work we go" when I go to work everyday.

I love the Delta commercial that uses the song! It's my favorite!

Steve never mentions a favorite character so it astounded me when he requested a Gaston shirt for the Princess 5k. And now he owns about 5 of them. :rotfl:

He's his guy!!

DH was like "You're our favorite guy!"

Ha! I knew it! They're BFFs!

I call this Gaston the pig nose Gaston, which I realize is super mean and rude, but he always seems to be tilting his head up so you can see up his nose.

Gaston is one of the best meet and greets E-V-E-R. He's so bad he's good :cool2:

If you didn't know already:

:disrocks: :disrocks: :disrocks:

It really does!!

Ok, now THIS makes sense...unlike the drunk CM who gave this to me at the Haunted Mansion :rotfl:
