We arrive this friday. I called to request a room in the 80's section. I sent a fax with Touringplans.

I can't seem to get my online check-in choice to stick, they keep disappearing.

Is there any point to calling again, to make sure they see my request for an 80's room?

I'm super stress and we arrive in Orlando at 8 PM so won't be a lot of rooms to choose from at that point if they do not offer anything close to our request :(

Does anyone know how much of the 90's parking lot is blocked up to hold construction equipment? Is it still somewhat easy to find a spot in this lot?
A decent section of the parking lot is blocked by the construction. We were in the 90's building and had no trouble finding a "close" spot if we came back from the parks early. But the couple nights we came back late, we had to park in the last row of spaces almost by the bus stop.

We also arrive on Friday. My online choices don't stick either. I used Touring plans and will hope for the best. Im arriving around noon, but I didn't request the 80's, so at least I won't be taking your room. :p
Good luck! :goodvibes Hope you get your request!

Is the mousekeeping op-out still going on? And for 15 per day, excl check-in/out day?? Also if so and we do this can I still call daily to get a set of toileteries?? We grab as many to take back home.

My choices will not stick either, it keeps changing from the 80's to the 90's building and it won't let me pick it for my first choice...

I had the same problem with requests online check in!!! What the heck?! I am faxing and calling :-)

Same here!! No first choice sticking and keeps changing 70s to 50s! So weird. I was starting to think the 70s section was closed or something due to renovation...lol

One of the 70's buildings is already closed and it's very likely that the other one will be closing shortly....so that really could be true that the entire 70's section will be closed when you're there.

Yikes!! What is even weirder is that we have a room only 8/27-8/28 and then a package from 8/28-9/4. The 70's req on the room only stuck and the package one didn't. I guess it's more important for the room only since we are going to likely stay in that room for the duration as I don't they will make us move the following day.

This is a 40th bday trip and of course being born in 1977, we wanted to stay in our decade :-)

They *could* make you change rooms for the second reservation. They will always try to accommodate guests with back-to-back reservations and keep them in the same room if that's what they request (though you'll still have to do a separate check-in on the day the second reservation begins). My travel agent said that in her experience (she's been an Disney Earmarked TA for over 16 years), people are able to stay in the same room for both reservations about 60% of the time. I was asking her about it because we thought we were going to have to do 2 reservations last year due to being there during 2 different promotional periods (and the second promo was much better for us than the 1st one) -- fortunately we got a PIN code that covered our entire stay and we didn't have to do the split reservations. Anyway, if it was me, I would definitely go to the front desk on your first check-in day (before going to your room even if you get direct-to-room check-in) and ask if it will be possible to stay in the same room for both reservations. If it's not, then you'll have to decide whether you want to move during your stay or see if they have something else available on check-in day #1 that you *can* stay in for the entire stay.

For online check-in choices not "sticking," try calling the reservation number and telling them your room request there. Afterward, your online check-in choices should reset (at least they did for me).

Would love to see your statistics on this ! I have never used TP and I am 5 for 5 going back to 2011 (before TP began charging for this free service)

I agree, I've been staying at POP for 10 years(every year) and have always received my request, mind you I have never asked for a specific room just a building, and I have always just called in my requests.

I've never, ever received my building request by just calling it in. I think I was 0 for 8. I finally got my request the first time I did online check in. You just never know.

We have a 1 night room-only reservation the night before our package in September. They have noted that I'd like to stay in the same room but made sure I was aware when booking that it was possible I would need to change rooms. I'd prefer to stay in one so that I could unpack night one but also understand this may not be possible. My brother and SIL had a 1 night a couple of years ago and then had to move rooms (from 90's to 60's) for the remainder of their stay which was a different reservation.

I hope you get to stay without moving but didn't want you to be disappointed if this wasn't the case for you.

We have never called in room requests but when doing on line check in our requests have been granted about 50% of the time. On our last stay in March to All Star Music I requested ground floor near transportation. We were given top floor and the furthest building away from transportation. Our time before that when stayed at Sports and I requested the same ground floor near transportation and were given the building closest to the main building. My last Pop visit a few years back I requested 50's and we were given 90's. This next time I might just not do on line check in and what we get is what we get.

Well, like another poster and I pointed out previously in response to that same message, Anecdotal means "by observation or experience" so there is no statistical spreadsheet and exact numbers as I have much better things to do than keep scientific data on the success of various room request methods at Disney World. If you would like to see my anecdotal evidence you can do a search on "faxing room requests" on several different Disney message boards and read posts from the last several years. Or you can just be happy that your method has worked for you and let those of us who haven't had that same experience do what finally *has* worked for us. Requesting a specific building is a much easier request to fill than a specific room or more detailed location (like first floor, near transportation) that many people are talking about here. There are 288 rooms in each building at Pop but only about 20 of those might fit the "first floor, close to transportation" request. Everyone should do what works for them when conveying their room requests to Disney (or simply in life in general). No one ever said that calling or faxing your requests yourself won't get you what you want, but if you read just the last few pages of this thread alone, you'll see that many people *don't* get their requests when using that method and have much better success with TP. No one is being forced to do it a certain way. Isn't it great that we all have choices? You can do what works for you and others will do what works for them. Your decisions don't affect them and theirs don't affect you or anyone else who doesn't do it thesame way they do.

My notes, show building 9 having closed on May 5th and opening on July 4th. Thats only 51 days. Did I get the close date wrong?

No, I think your closure date is right, but I thought it just opened the last week of July. Someone had read somewhere it was supposed to open 7/24; it didn't quite make that, but was close. I'll have to go back and check the POP Renovations thread; there were posts when we first started to hear of people checking into 9.

Sorry I didn't, I've been off for the last month so there was just to many pages to go through. I didn't imply or state that anyone should do it one or the other, I was just stating what has worked for me the last 10 years. I don't know what works best and what doesn't, just what my experience is. If using TP works for some people then continue to use them. I didn't mean to make any made or defensive.

33 days until we go back to where it all started........more peaceful and relaxing this time around.
