Regarding where the gratuity is included, see #7 in the first post

Hope that helps!

Tip what you feel comfortable with but try to keep in mind how you would feel if someone paid you little or nothing for your hard work. Trust me...99% of folks could not handle what it takes to be a server.

Don't mean to break the rules but...I find your rules kind of crazy. You don't allow anyone to comment on their own particular tipping habits but you detail yours ie. No tipping more than you tithe the Lord nor more than you make an hour. Don't mean to be rude but my guess is you are a lousy tip where ever you are. And yes, I am a server/bartender/manager and now owner.

??? If you're referring to the first post in the thread, those are the rules of things not to be discussed, NOT what the poster actually believes or how they tip. Those are all examples of things that they don't want people posting as it leads to debates. If you re-read the post, you will see that none of that is written in a way that would construe that it's their personal tipping habits, but rather a list of comments that have sparked debates on here before that are to be avoided.

These comments are to be avoided because some people like to judge and make rude comments based on others tipping habits (or sometimes apparently only on how they ASSUME someone else tips).

Not sure if you were responding to me, but I just wanted clarification that tip is NOT included in the bill at TS restaurants (except for Cindy's, where it is included).

Also, for most QS - are there even waiters at these restaurants or do you just order and pick up your food at the counter? I typically would not tip at a restaurant like that (outside of WDW) as they do not staff servers/waiters, but I was just wondering what was typical practice at WDW for a counter service restaurant. Except for maybe BOG or another QS restaurants where they might actually bring your food to your table (if they do that).

1) Since I've never done DDP before, just to clarify from the first post, the ONLY place that we do not need to tip would be CRT, correct? We should tip for any other TS restaurant? We will be doing H&V Minnie's Seasonal Dine and something TBD at Epcot.

2) Also, are there any QS restaurants where tipping is typical or do most people tip at both QS and TS at WDW?

1) Most likely, any prepaid event meal - Luau, CRT, HDDR... - includes the tip in the price.

2) Where you order after standing in line, wait for your food, and carry it to your table, no. Unlike many/most fast food and coffee venues, there's no tip jar on the counter either :). The few or rare locations where you order at the counter or in advance - BOG, WPE - whether or not one tips is a personal decision.

Thanks a bunch! That is exactly what I needed to know. Sounds like I also need to take a little cash to tip at BBB from an article that I read elsewhere.

i thought my first post was deleted. I misread the rules. No - I was not responding to you. But i am a server. It is an incredibly hard job. And no, i would not tip at counter service.

For the QS locations like BOG where food is brought to your table, if you'd like to tip and are paying with a credit card, will the machine give you the option to add a tip, or would it be advisable to instead tip the server (in cash) when they bring the food to you?

This is a great thread and with that said I would like to make sure I am understanding correctly. I understand that with parties of 6 or more they add the tip of 18% to your bill automatically. What I am not certain about is if you are on the dining plan do you just have to decide how you will pay the gratuity? Or .. when u sign the receipt r/t to the dinning plan are u signing so the tip is now included in your bill and charged to your account and you do not have to also leave a tip on the table?

We are a party of 4, in two rooms. One room (of 3) is on the DxDDP; however our credits will cover all 4 guests. Can the guest who is not on the dining plan charge the gratuity for the entire table to his room?

We have a party of 7 but 2 separate dining plans(2 different room reservations) will the 18% be on the total bill for table or for 18% for each dining plan bill?

Yes.

Each Dining Plan account should get its own check.

We plan to tip on the full amount of the check as previously stated. Our hustle is that we are going to opt-out of the housekeeping at Pop and use the $15/night credit to pay for our tips :-)

That Pop offer was a trial, and yesterday was the last day it was offered.

Alright so I have a related question that I've been curious about. We are going the 6th-16th (it's almost here!) and we're wanting to make sure we plan enough for tip... the only problem being all the restaurants (buffets) are on a scale of a low price to a high price. I'm just wondering if anyone knows where pricing sits that time of year?

This is just an observation and not a criricism in any way, but as a Brit, can i just say how crazy it all seems to us that there is a need for a whole thread dedicated to tipping! Don't worry, we abide by the tipping rules when we are in Disney, but reading this thread it appears such a complex process. In the UK we tip or we don't and we give what we want. Has it always been this way? We usually follow suit but it hasn't reached our shores yet.

The "need" for this thread is simply to keep all tipping questions and answers in one easy to find location. Various tipping 'discussions' tended to get a bit volatile.

Just to check, from having read it all, I think I have it right - buffets like Crystal Palace you DO tip for, and dessert parties you DON"T tip for?
