Homecomin' vs Boathouse?

Hello,

Planning an October trip for just my sister and me. I've done (and loved!) Homecomin', but my sister is more of a seafood person so I'm thinking of considering Boathouse instead (won't have time to do both).

Looking for advice from folks who've experienced both...if you can only do one, what would be your pick and why?

Thanks for any help!

Homecomin' is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. I'm a southern girl, so I can truly say that this is true, southern comfort food. It has the most absolutely delicious food. I'm also a girl that can eat a lot and the portion sizes are great here especially for the price.

Boathouse is great too, especially with the waterfront atmosphere. Great seafood with great prices, but Homecomin' has my heart (and stomach:rotfl2:).

I really enjoy both. But if forced to pick just one, I'd pick Boathouse. Love sitting out on the dock and great variety on the menu both in items and price points.

Thanks for the replies! I think I am leaning toward Boathouse. I think it has more options my sister would enjoy, plus it would mean trying somewhere I haven't been before. Also, I see that Homecomin' has a small menu at a walk-up window, so if I regret my decision, I could still score a fried chicken sandwich if need be. :rolleyes1

Fried Chicken & sawdust compared to Caviar and wood-paneling.

Coin-flip if you can't decide on your own.

Man, I've been to Boathouse quite a few times and have never been too impressed by the food. I thought Homecomin' would win by a landslide. LOL.

Anywho, I vote for Homecomin'.

We have eaten at both of these restaurants several times. The last time we ate of the Boathouse one of us ordered the swordfish. It was by far the smallest portion of fish that I have ever seen placed on a dinner plate. At first I thought somehow we received an appetizer instead of the dinner - checked with the server - and no it was dinner. After we left, we headed to a food truck! It was a Saturday night and the Boathouse staff was busy but with so many other places to eat, I can't help lean towards a different restaurant. Homecomin' is my favorite!

I thought Boathouse was way overpriced and my parents were paying:) Liked Homecoming much Better, but it was WAY too loud inside. I like the deck area.

Homecoming', great food and service. Better price.

I might be in the minority here but I thought Homecomin' was wayyy better. I ate both places for lunch within 2 weeks of each other. The Boathouse was extremely overpriced (luckily we were on the Deluxe Dining Plan) for the food we received. We are from South Carolina and frequent Charleston often and I would put Homecoming's southern cooking right up there with some of the most popular restaurants in Charleston. I will add that we are not seafood eaters (we ordered steak and chicken at the Boathouse)

I live in the area and go to both places often. Homecomin' has a Grouper sandwich that is the best I have ever had. I like Boathouse for sitting outside by the water and getting one of their specialty burgers. Boathouse is owned by the Gibson Group (Chicago) known for their burgers/steaks. Also Boathouse has the best lobster bisque soup ever!!!

Why not do both? Rather than getting an ADR, saddle up to their bars, order an app or two to share, and try both!

That's a good suggestion. We only have a couple hours in Disney Springs during one afternoon of our trip, but if we opt to not do a full meal, we could get a small taste of both. Something to think about for sure. Anyone also know if the full menu for both restaurants is available at the bar areas?

Yes, full menus are available at most bars throughout disney. We haven't done boathouse yet, but enjoyed the full homecoming menu at the bar
