Mickey Head Balloons Question....

I bought one at Magic Kingdom, deflated it before we left, packed the balloon away on my luggage. When I got home, I inflated the balloon and left it in my room. My dog was barking at it but she barks at everyrhing and didnt think it was any different. I come home from work to a deflated balloon with holes. My dog popped it. Now I must buy another when we go next year and make sure the dog does not get it this time.

lol. Great story. How did you deflate the balloon. I presumed Disney might do it for me.

That's awesome! I've also always wanted one of these balloons but have never bought one. I want to this year. The flashing ones, can you turn the flashing off an on? And do they cost the same, around $15 or are they more?

Wondering how many other people (really!) are like us.... adults who want that balloon but never purchased one!

You wait until Orlando to put on the ears? I put them on when I leave the house to go to the airport! TSA always smiles at my home airport when I put those through security and everyone on the airport parking shuttle knows where I'm going :-)

I actually feel you DreamIsAWish... but I'm funny about advertising where I am going. Last trip i did not have the ears - I purchased them at the Orlando airport Disney store. This time I still have the ears and I will indeed put them on on the plane! Cant wait!

We went in June and I distinctly remember buying our balloon on our way out of the park after HEA. So they are out at least that late.
Also as an FYI what I never knew and found out this trip is if for some reason your balloon starts to deflate they will exchange it for a new one. We buy a balloon to tie onto our stroller as a way for us to quickly find it. Well after about a week our balloon was get a bit tired looking (it was starting to sag big time). As we were walking into MK again the nice cast member who was at the magic band scan told me if I went and saw a balloon person they would switch it out for me so I walked up and asked. They asked for our old balloon and handed me another!

Yay! Thanks for validating after HEA! Can't wait to do it! It will be like the icing on the cake of my first park day!

I am getting one this trip. I asked and they will deflate your balloon for you at the airport Disney stores. Also she said if you don't want to wait, to ask your hotel before you leave. She said they should be able to do that there as well. That way you can either have it blown back up at home, or just hang up the deflated balloon on your wall!

Thanks so much for this info. I think I'd like to do this. My plan to give it away was due to the inability to take it home. But if I can take it home... the big kid in me certainly WANTS TO!

They might be a bit more. Yes there is a switch to turn the flashing off which I didn't discover till the end of the first trip I bought one. We drove home to our hotel with it hidden under jackets in the car so it didn't distract me. It's a testament to its longevity though as it lasted over a week until I found the switch.

Oh my gosh me too!! I have my ears on the minute I wake up the day we leave!! I get a lot of weird looks in the airport in Detroit, but its worth it!! Im worried my Fiancee will give me a hard time and be embarrassed, but I dont care!!

We were gifted one on arrival day at ALL by a family that couldn't take theirs home. My son was overjoyed and we had it for 3 weeks. The family before us said they had enjoyed it for over a week. I hope you enjoy yours!!

Thanks so much brinkley07!

wow. lol.

... hand it to someone checking in regardless of child/adult. pixiedust: It is fun to pay it forward!

THIS. After reading this thread, I'll buy a balloon next year because I want to--because this year has taught me that time is precious. Even adults can appreciate magic, so I think I'll explain my intentions to the DD's and we will gift it to someone, be it an adult or child.

I feel so validated by these posts! I wanted one of those balloons on my very first trip Dec. 1971. My parents wouldn't get one. My Dad wanted very badly to get me one but there was no way to keep it in the parks - such a hassle. In all the years I've been going to WDW, I still haven't purchased the balloon. I've even told my Husband the balloon story every time we go to the parks. He offers to buy one for me but I decline because - well, like Dad said - what a pain they are. Taking my Grandbabies in April 2018 and I'm buying them balloons!!!! I don't care how much they cost. I have a feeling it will be worth every penny and my Dad will be smiling down on us from heaven as we skip through the MK with our Mickey balloon.

Oh my!! You have just given me inspiration! I will wear my ears on my way to the airport and on the plane. This will make my 16 year old so thrilled especially with a 6am flight! :rotfl:I love it!!!

My parents wouldn't buy us them when we were younger. So now as an "adult" lol (I will never grow up), I have gotten one twice. One time we went and had Mickey sign them, it was pretty cool! He made a big deal about it. I deflated that one and brought it home. On the other trip where I got one, we paid it forward and gave it away.

We stay at AKL this trip and I have heard mixed reviews of if they are allowed.

What a cool idea having Mickey sign it! That is awesome!!!

I had a Disney florist gift delivered to my room and I added the mickey head balloons, it made me very happy (I was 47 at the time). I love balloons. That being said I wouldn't walk around with one but if I was you I'd buy one and let it bounce around your room! I've seen them at the evening parade so you should be able to get one late.

I was there last year and paid $16 for one (cash only!) - we were lucky to have a stroller to tie it to. I definitely saw them at night but they were the ones that light up and not sure if they were more $. I say go for it and totally agree that there is something special about those balloons.

I'm so happy I stumbled upon this thread! We are getting married just off property next month and I was really hoping for some Mickey balloons. Originally our plans were to visit Epcot the day before the wedding, so I had looked into having the balloons delivered to our room at the Dolphin... but I was struggling because I was going to have to spend $40 on a basket or tray that I didn't want to get balloons! And now the classic Mickey balloons aren't even on the gift site. But now we're going to MK the day before, and I now know I can get some at the end of the night and they'll be fine for the next day! I was worried they'd deflate overnight like normal balloons. Should have known, Disney magic! Now instead of spending $40 on something I don't want, I could spend it on more balloons :)

Do all of the balloons come with weights?
