Get Ready for a Western Adventure-August 2017 Wish Lifestyle/Weight Challenge

Great to see you here! I hope you are doing well!!

I am up to my ears in home renovations! I am doing ok, thank you. i may try to drop by more often in September.

BTW current gpb trend and dinning offers make it very appealing to book from disney uk. You can book from any EU country (for now!) and pay in gbp for package in 2018. Just saying, in case you plan 2018 trip

Good luck with the home renovation!

Thanks for the tip! We own DVC, so we don't need to book packages, but the Dollar exchange rate is pretty nice for us Euro-Zoners at the moment, too!

A quick trip to the Cody, Wyoming area only a few hours away where there is the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, the Buffalo Bill Dam, and the East Entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Nearby is the Heart Mountain Internment Camp. Sadly when our old computer crashed we lost a lot of our photos so the only ones I have of the Cody area were taken when I went down with a friend to keep her company on a job doing checks on bank owned properties to indicate what upkeep and repairs needed to be done at a later time. These were taken driving out towards a property on the road to Yellowstone

Part of loosing weight or getting in shape is changing our behaviors when we continue in our old behaviors we need to ask ourselves if any of these are our immediate payoff: Pleasure, Psychological Calm, Emotional Relief, Irrational Rewards, Acceptance, Appeal of Immediate vs Delayed Gratification, or even Safety. As we start to move into September think if any of these apply to you and plan how you are going to respond. For example instead of having a piece of chocolate after I get a section of my house cleaned up I am going to put the amount that chocolate would have cost in a jar and when the house is all neat and tidy I am going to get either a book or a movie I have been wanting. Though since DH is working crazy hours still, and 12 year old is busy throwing I'm tired, I need to spend time on the computer, I need to do this on the ipad, I need to play with my kittens, I just plain don't want to do it because sister doesn't have to do as much ( never mind that 9 year old does more for her abilities and does her few chores willingly and without attitude) I might just have enough to get both.
Tomorrows plan is to put a ham in the crock pot in the morning and then get started on doing a whole lot of corn up for the freezer. My dad called me a little before 6 tonight asking how our corn was. I told him we still had some from the last batch about a week ago. He told me to meet him outside my gate in about 3.5-4 minutes because he had over 100 ears of corn for me to put up. The only reason I did not do corn tonight is I don't have any gallon freezer bags ( at least ones I can find) so DH is going to pick some up on his way home from work. I wasn't planning on going anywhere so he took our primary vehicle and I don't drive the other one.
I will try and stop in tomorrow a bit. Let's finish August out strong with our goals. Anyone want to host for September if not I can carry on with what I have though I might run out of photos unless you want bunny and kitten photos. ( I think I might have a few of our old fish that died when 9 year old decided at 6 years old that the fish needed an entire large canister of fish food at once).

I have multiple woohoos! First off- I'm done with my 30 day shred and I'm soooooo so glad :P Well, technically it ended up being a 27 day shred but since I went from working out maybe once a week to trying to work out every day for 30 days straight, I'm still proud.

My second woohoo is that tomorrow I leave for DISNEY WORLD! EEK! That's part of why I've been absent a little bit the last couple of weeks. I was out last week for work then this week I've been rushing about getting ready so haven't had much time for anything else.

Since I leave tomorrow I'm going to go ahead and give my August totals now. As I mentioned, I did 27 out of 30 days for my workout goal but weight loss was a little less than I had hoped. With travelling and my DH's birthday festivities, I strayed quite a bit from my point allowance. I ended the month at 1 lb lost out of 5 and honestly I'm just surprised I came out negative at all. I'll be starting off September rough with a Disney trip but I'm hoping to come back swinging next month! So my overall goal completion was 80%.

Woohoo Wednesday- I am FINALLY in ONDERLAND!! Officially. too! My scale at home is a about 2lbs lighter than the scale at WW. I weigh myself each day so I have an idea where I am at. I showed it before leaving on the trip at home, but was .6 over at WW, so now it is on both scales!

Woohoo... @dolewhipdreams is going to WDW!!! I was reading a post yesterday where someone had purchased an extra day on their park ticket thinking they'd go over to EPCOT the evening of their arrival (which is the day before I arrive), then they were questioning whether or not that was a good idea since it's F&W and none of the other parks are going to be open late. I read the post and thought oh, bad idea, then realized, dang, I did the very same thing... I should be getting to POP around 7pm-ish and was planning on going over to EPCOT for dinner and Illuminations - and my arrival day is a Friday. YIKES! Then I remembered that TS are often available during F&W as most people are munching their way thru the booths, so I've booked myself a late dinner at Teppan Edo and will plan on going in thru International Gateway, to avoid the madness up front. This has me finally getting a little bit excited to be going.

Other than that it's been kind of a tough week, with all that's going on in Texas with Harvey. But I am looking forward to and am grateful for the coming long holiday weekend. I am absolutely positively going to make myself get out and do yard work, and start on fall cleaning in the house as well.

Hope all have a lovely and peaceful weekend.

BTW, sweetpeama, Wyoming looks gorgeous. It so big, spacious, pretty. On my bucketlist of places to see.

Cody is less than a 2 hour drive from me. A number of people even commute from there to work each day. Going the other direction on the interstate instead of state roads Sheridan is about 2 hours, Buffalo is about 3 and both Gillette and Cody are about 4 hours away. All bets are off on time when the snow flies though.

Let's finish out the month with a quick trip to South Dakota. We will concentrate mainly on the Black Hills. Going through the Crow and Cheyenne Indian Reservations the Black Hills are easily

Sitting Bull Memorial just outside Mobridge, SD along the Missouri River. The headwaters of the Missouri are where the Madison and Jefferson Rivers come together with the Gallatin River joining just a few feet down stream to form the Missouri River which flows through Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota before heading to join the Missisippi near St. Louis, Missouri making it the longest flowing river in the United States. The Yellowstone River which starts in Yellowstone National Park and flows through Wyoming, Montana, and a small part of North Dakota before it joins the Missouri River is the longest free flowing River in the United States. There are too many smaller rivers along with creeks, and streams that join up to these 2 rivers which make up the 2 water basins of Montana on the east side of the continental divide.

I did it! I managed to log my food every single day. It wasn't too hard. Just gruesome to see the calories some days! But overall (I just did the math!) I ate 129 calories under My Fitness Pal target so maybe I'll see a change on the scale. I also walked an average of 7071 steps each day. I'm thinking I might keep the ticker tape each month and compare as I continue my healthy me journey.

Thanks for hosting this month Sweetpeama. I loved the photos!

I love everyone's stories and am looking forward to next month!

South Dakota is one of the states I've not yet been too, and after getting to Oklahoma this summer I was pondering what in the heck would I ever go to South Dakota for then remembered Mt Rushmore! And of course the Laura Ingals Wilder Homestead in De Smet.

Thanks @sweetpeama for hosting this month, I've really enjoyed seeing the pictures of your neck of the woods!

Unfortunately I have to give myself a great big ZERO% for this month, as I really haven't accomplished anything I set forth. Now it's on to September... I'm not sure why autumn (a time when so many things are dying or going in to slumber mode) wakes me up and makes me feel revitalized, but I am grateful for it. There are lots of things on the docket for September, the first being the trip to Nashville and then later in the month my Neice's wedding. And I'm determined to get to the State Fair during Sheep Week this year... missed it by one day last year and had to settle for Goats.

Nothing major planned for this weekend. Its going to be quite warm, so I'll get out in to the yard early to get the fall clean up started. This is the last weekend that the local light house is open for touring and I've never been to it, so thought I might check it out. Plus the Terracotta Warriors exhibit is in town and I want to go see that as well.

Hope everyone has a happy and healthful weekend!

Thanks everyone for all your comments for the month of August. As we move into September if someone would like to continue please let us all know. For now let's continue by putting down here what our goals are for the month of September and for those who haven't how we did for August with our goal. Finally the question/challenge for the weekend is to think about when your impulses and urges to not when it is in your control make a choice that moves you towards your goal. Also if circumstances effect your goal this coming month think about some alternatives that you can put in place.

My goal for the month of September is to make it to the pool at least 5 times this month for at least 20 minutes in the pool exercising. For the month of August my goal was to maintain my weight knowing that I was facing the business of the fair along with all the fun fair food I enjoy. I actually ended up loosing 3.9 pounds for the month.

Some kittens from a couple of summers ago. We were not able to get these ones tame as the mother moved them in the night after we discovered them.

Please everyone give your input do we want to continue on this thread for September or move to a new one for September. Also do we have someone else interested in hosting. I can continue to host if need be but want to make sure no one else wanted to host.

First of all thank you so much for August! I know you were really busy with the fair inbetween, so it was great that you were able to keep the thread going! I have hosted two months in a row in the past and know that it was really hard, so I decided that I will step up and host September. I hope this is ok with you. I am going to start the new thread now and will come back here to post the link!
