Elizabeth Smith leaps and bounds (or bikes and walks) into being the first team member to reach Rizzo the Rat Red!

Rizzo started life as a minor character on The Muppet Show, but he had a bigger presence after he was paired with Gonzo to narrate The Muppet Christmas Carol. He was created and performed by Steve Whitmire until 2016 (you may recall that, a few months ago, news broke that the Muppets studio had parted ways with Whitmire, who had performed Kermit the Frog and numerous other characters since Jim Henson's death in 1990). Rizzo is named after Ratso Rizzo, Dustin Hoffman's character in Midnight Cowboy.

I am taking a few days off and will be off the grid until Saturday, so the next update will be Saturday evening. Keep up the active minutes, everyone! The team is just barely shy of Pascal Purple.

PollyannaMom turns Pascal Purple, I and Twilight Sparkle turn Rizzo the Rat Red, and Elizabeth Smith becomes the first team member to exceed goal and turn Gargoyles WISH Green!

Laverne, Victor, and Hugo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame are cathedral gargoyles who become Quasimodo's only friends. They provide some comic relief to keep the movie from becoming too depressing. Victor and Hugo's names refer to the famous author, whose Hunchback novel saved Notre Dame from destruction and caused a new appreciation of medieval and Gothic architecture, including gargoyles. In contrast, Laverne is named after one of the Andrews Sisters. Mary Wilkes, who voiced Laverne, died before completing the role, so Jane Withers recorded the remainder.

Mushu to the rescue! Mulan's dragon guide and guardian has fire as his element. Mushu originally had a song called "Keep 'Em Guessing," but it was scrapped when the character concept changed with Eddie Murphy's casting.

Mushu has his own sidekick too, the lucky cricket Cri-Kee.
