Hollywood Studio's new name

California Adventure is still, hands down, my favorite Disney park. So relaxing, so charming, so much fun with an ever growing diversity of rides. I must be a born and raised Californian.:flower1:

I really liked DCA - especially the old-time Hollywood area. One thing I didn't like was I felt like more than any other of the Disney parks there were less attractions the entire family could do together. I found my wife and I had to do a lot of rider swaps there - and then they had a Bugs Land which had real kiddie rides. So it was more separate kiddie rides and adult rides vs entire family rides

I'm not totally brushed up on California Adventure's history, but isn't the park a whole lot different today than it was in 2003. Cars Land is a very worthwhile experience and it was not there in 2003.
Yes- for sure. And Car's Land really put it on the map. But my favorite areas, Grizzly Peak with the rapids and Soarin, and the eating area - Pacific Wharf- were there before the big redo. Guess it didn't hurt that I could finally get a glass of wine while enjoying Disney, either.:)

Makes sense. Did the kiddos get to experience Redwood Creek "play" area? Used to make me crazy that we would spend all that money to get in the park and my kids would have been happy spending the day away there!

The did - and enjoyed it. Actually I think my wife took them there while I was using my FP for California Screaming

"Disney Studio's"
It's no longer about "Hollywood" - but about the "Disney" film legacy.

see, i think it is more about Hollywood and less about Disney's film legacy as the main parts of the park will be Star Wars and a Pixar property which are both entities Disney acquired rather recently

If it was all about Disney films from the 30s - 60s or something then I could agree with you

Those recent entities are still "Disney" now. As for going back to the 30's etc. Isn't this part of the reason for the revamp?
They want to attract fans of today's film market. It's still "Disney" at the end of the - no matter which era is featured, and it makes sense to stay recent.

while they are under the Disney umbrella they aren't made by "Disney studios" so the name doesn't fit to me ... but maybe just me

I think Hollywood stills belongs in the name, considering Hollywood and Sunset Blvd remain the most prominent areas guests experience and now that Grand Avenue is cementing a SoCal feel. Disney’s Hollywood Adventure. Simple.

Must agree here. But we don't know if they are going to change the names of the walkways???

Rteetz Just explained to me why the "Studios" is no longer relevant. Makes sense.

yeah, and I agree - same thing really for Universal as well as not really a working studio/behind the scenes like it used to be

I still think at the end of the day they go with Disney Hollywood Adventure

Agree that Hollywood Adventure is most likely and perfectly fine. However, my two cents...

Although certainly to a lesser degree than "Studios," "Hollywood" still implies movie production. Given the nature of the two new lands - related to the movies they are based on but designed to create new, independent experiences - I think a better park name is out there. Something like Disney's Kingdom of Stories...

I guess since it is really movie properties they are based on I can live with Hollywood still being in the title.

Really should just change it to "IP Kingdom" or something

Disney Movies' Adventure should take care of that issue.

Disney Hyperia Park would not be so bad going back to Disney roots and the Hyperion Studios.
