Flying into Fall!! – WISH September Lifestyle/Weight Challenge

blood test, are you ok @4Mickeys?

Dr is checking iron, blood sugar, cholesterol amongst another bunch of things on the referral I have not idea lol. I have been having pain in my left arm lately - (the more it goes on I am pretty sure it is muscular though) so have also been having some ultrasounds (arm and cardiac) just have to have a treadmill stress test still. She is also keeping an eye on my blood pressure sometimes it is sitting a bit higher that it should - mostly I think it is just ageing and it highlights the need for me to make a bigger effort on my healthy journey. I just get so tired sometimes and after doing nothing much at all - for example today I spent the morning sitting around at the boys hockey presentation celebrations and then came home and pretty much slept all afternoon! Other times I completely understand the tiredness same as many of you - working full time, caring for children and trying to fit it all in! Thanks for asking :-).

Speaking of hockey DS16 got awarded the encouragement trophy - he was so happy - He got to bring the big trophy home until next year and then he has a smaller personal one to keep. At these presentations not every kid gets a participation award they only give a few awards per team so it was wonderful to see him earn one.

@4Mickeys congratulations to your DS16

@HappyGrape horray for the end of the picking a high school for your DS.

Thank you everyone for the support in the loss of my cousin. Still dealing with lots of emotion and questioning why. Doesn't help that a total creep was arrested about the time of my cousin's passing and given a million dollar bond for beating his partner beyond recognition, crushing vertebrae, breaking at least 1 rib, and ribbing out hair before taking the victim to an ex partner to watch and prevent from escaping. Ex partner was scared of this creep so cooperated in being the preventing the victim from escaping. It was not until the watcher took the victim to a job interview that the victim was able to escape to a domestic violence shelter. The creep is only a year older than my cousin would have been on his birthday next month. Makes me want to scream about how unfair it is that someone like this creep is allowed to breath air while a great guy who loved his family, treated his customers fairly in his used car business, and would go out of his way to help anyone he knew who needed it had his life cut short.

Weight is starting to come back down with increasing my calories the past few days. At some point I am interested in finding out if there was a famine somewhere in my family history line that might have set my body to be one of those that hold onto weight when faced with food levels going below a certain point. Since while we know that we are choosing to restrict how much we are eating for a period of time and could get more food our bodies at any time our bodies think that we don't know how long this famine is going to continue so holds onto what it can in order to prevent starvation.

From someone that have experienced loss of young age I can tell you there is no answer to the question why. It's just bad luck. It's nothing to do with fair. It's simply not fair. I did nothing wrong to lose my mum age 9. I couldn't have done anything different. She couldn't either. It's just how it is. There is no rational reason or any fairness in it.

Sweetpeama--sorry for your loss
happygrape--fingers crossed for that letter
4mickeys--congrats to your son

Yesterday's food was a total bust! But it's all logged (gulp!) and I am moving on. The good news is I got lots of steps in. I was surprised about yesterday because I knew we'd be sitting through the baseball game and then 4+ hours sitting in the car going home. But we parked far away (a necessity if we didn't want to pay!) and then walked all around the stadium. I love Safeco Field. It has some wonderful decks with beautiful views of the harbor!

Nothing exciting planned for this week. DS2 has been at college for a month and I still haven't cleaned out his room. That may be today's project! But right now it is time to start laundry--it's not supposed to rain so I'll be able to dry things on the line.:laundy:

Hello Monday.

The wedding was lovely, everything turned out exactly as my Niece had planned including the weather. The venue was at a lighthouse on the island she grew up on, which is right across from the neighborhood I live in: the ferry dock is close enough to walk to from my house. They rented the two houses on the site, one for them and one for his family who all came in from out of town. And the wedding was set up in the yard between the houses. There was an alter built out of driftwood, and behind it was the water and on the horizon Mt Rainier. Perfection.

Thursday we did make it to the state fair, but spent the entire time in the sheep barn. We chatted with one shepherdess for quite a while who had the loveliest Border Leicester flock. She said in addition to quality fleece she's been breeding for temperament so they are easy to handle and they were so sweet and docile. The one I was petting literally went in to a trance. She said she wasn't expecting to win anything because she didn't breed for show, but yesterday on FB she posted her yearling ram won his class... no mind he was the only one showing in that class.

This is going to be a full work week... I guess that's a good thing since I won't be trying to cram 5 days in to 3. No household chores got done over the long weekend, so I need to apply myself at home. Plus I really, really, really need to get going with getting some weight off and getting in shape for the WDW trip in November. A lot of training walking needs to be happening - right now.

I spent this whole weekend cleaning my daughters room. It took 5+ hours. I was so mad. Well then yesterday I ended up really sore. I am assuming from the cleaning. I did the laundry yesterday and haven't really gotten out for a walk to get my steps. Today I have a Dr. appointment (annual check-up) but it is not close to me. It will take me about 30 minutes to get there from work and god only knows how long it will take to get home. It should only take an hour but I wasn't smart enough to schedule it around rush hour. The 2 highways I have to take are horrible during rush hour and are more like a parking lot. Hopefully it won't be too bad. Tomorrow I see the ENT. This one is close to home. Mainly just up the street from me. I am really hoping get figure this ear and sinus issues I have. I really need to get to the rec. I am hoping to do so everyday this week.

Last post for schools, I promise! We got confirmation yesterday that DS have place in our top choice and we will be from the first round of offers that will be out in October. I also went out with the bus during peak traffic time, 50 minutes door to door trip. Not short really but manageable. I looked at the boys (all boys school) playing rugby and they looked so well behaved & focused and confident. Between this and their high academic records I feel at ease with my choice.

I wish I kept the October WDW plan but honestly, I am so happy for the school! The happy feeling takes over

However, one vacation, second vacation, home renovations, DH travelling so much in the next month, DS school search, DS school, me working from home two days and managing his pick ups and drop off to school while working, his swimming, rugby and art classes, guest home 3 weeks in row ...

I have not been doing my pre planning for meals and I made few attempt to focus on myself little but it didn't happen! I feel now is good moment to take a step back and organize myself and reduce the amount of things we do and add some rest in our schedules!

I am very sorry for having deserted all of you again! The weekend was really busy. I was volunteering at a polling station for the election here in Germany (we elected a new parliament, which then in turn will elect our new head of government, which will be the same as the old one, Chancellor Merkel). That made for a busy day for me, making sure that only people who were registered voted and then counting the results. Here in Germany all the results are counted by hand by volunteers, every station has a group of 7 volunteers. Work is really crazy busy right now, too. And I am just constantly so exhausted.

On Wednesday I am going to have a blood test to check my thyroid levels. I feel like I have all the symptoms of low activity again. I don't lose any weight despite a calory deficit, I am exhausted, my hair is falling out, I am cold in the evenings... If it is not the thyroid, I feel I need to talk to my doctor about what else it could be, I truly do not feel very fit at all at the moment.

Eating has been wacky those past days, too. And exercise non existent because I hurt my foot... Well, hopefully the rest of the week improves!

If you are still tracking your results, post them and I will do a last update before the end of the month!! And I will try to think about a QOTD to post later today!

After my doctors appointment I made it home in only an hour. I was really expecting to be stuck in traffic for a couple of hours. I did not get the the rec but my husband and i went for a walk. I did get my 10,000 steps. Thankfully it cooled down some by the time we went. We are in the middle of a stalled out heat wave. Hurricane's Jose and Maria have been keeping the warm air from moving out. We have hit record highs of 90+ degrees over the past week. They are now saying that this is the warmest September in 60 some years. We also (I think) broke the record the the number 90+ degree days in September and the number in a row in September. I really feels more like summer (late July) rather then fall. But I will take this over the snow and cold weather coming. Saturday we are supposed to be a high of 60. It is going to feel so cold.

Well anyways I have my ENT appointment this afternoon and should get to the rec tonight with no problem. Unless my daughter has an issue. She was really upset this morning that she couldn't be with me and she was going to miss me. Then I got a call from her when school started crying that she was going to miss me. I have talked to her teachers and they have said that she is doing better. I want to spend time with her tonight but I need me time too. Sometimes it is just hard to have me time.

@ Happy Grape Congratulations on the confirmation of your top choice for your DS's school. 50 minutes door to door is not bad for travel time if you ask me. I would have killed for that when I moved into the larger town schools as I started out with a bus pick up time of 6:23 am and got to the school at 7:50 am with the pm times being 3:10 and 4:38 not that it was much better when they moved my street to not be on the same route as the we have money subdivisions as I still had bus times of 6:48 am getting to school at 7:30 ( which is when we got into the high school all along and than continued to the middle schools) and we got on the bus at 3:30 and got home at 4:25. Why do you think once I had friends that could drive and had cars I only rode once at the beginning of the year so that if they released buses early or did not run due to weather I was considered a bus student.

Trying to figure out what is going on as Sunday I was .3 lbs from being within my 2 pound fluctuation range on the plus size of my starting weight this month. I had a lot of raw vegetables and a salad that day gained the next day .7 pounds. Yesterday I had 2 salads ( the ones with lettuce not the pasta and mayo ones) and ended up gaining another .3 lbs so now I am exactly 3 pounds over my starting weight. #nothappy #notamused #Ithoughtlettucecarrotscelerybrocollicauliflowerwerelowcaloriefoods #Ievengotsomewalkingineachday #whatisgoingonhere Giving myself 75% at this time

Hi, I am so sorry you are not feeling the best. Good plan to check with our doctor, hope you feel better soon

If you are weighting yourself so often, keep record. You may find that you have patterns of weight fluctuation. Also things as sleep and PMS. Even workout - I weight more after weight lifting workout.

Good Morning or Afternoon for some. Yesterday was a pretty good day. I ate really good for breakfast and lunch. Dinner was McDonalds so not very good. it was just too hot to cook yesterday. I did go to the rec yesterday and walked on the treadmill for an hour. I don't know how many steps I got yesterday as my fitbit died at some point yesterday. I am sure I was over 10,000 steps though. Since we had fast food for dinner I opted not to eat a snack at night while watching tv. I thought this would help some with off setting the calories from dinner. I weighed myself this morning and I am still at the same weight. Today the weather is supposed to start cooling off. We are only supposed to have a high of 80 something. Much more manageable then the 90+ we have been having.

I am not sure if I will be working out tonight or cleaning. We are having my daughters birthday party on Saturday so I really need to get some cleaning done. My daughter is doing much better today then yesterday. She is wearing one of my old necklaces from when I was in like 8th grade. I let her pick which one of my necklaces she wanted to wear (with in reason) and she was very excited about it. her councilor at school talked to her yesterday and said my daughter didn't know why she was missing me so much. Her councilor thinks that it is just the new school, new routine and everything. She said she sees it a lot that the kids are fine the first month and then after that the anxiety will kick in. I do have to say her teachers were awesome about it. They each emailed me after they had her to tell me how she was doing. This helped me a lot.

I did go to the ENT yesterday and there is nothing wrong with my ears. He thinks that my ear pain is caused by my jaw. He said your jaw bone and ear bones are connected. I do clinch my teeth, chew gum way to often and have been told I have TMJ. SO this all fits. SO I will make an appointment with the jaw doctor and see how that goes. He also told me I need to start taking flonase everyday to get rid of the constant congestion I have.

I hope everyone has a good day!

Wait it is WooHoo Wednesday. My woohoo is that my daughter is doing better, I got my steps in 2 days in a row and no real issue with my ears.

Oh, it is Wednesday, isn't it?

First a confession... sometimes I am really dense. For the past month I've been forgetting to take the stuff I should take in the morning, so I was getting half dosages, plus I ran out of the Omega fish oil for about a week. Part of my brain was thinking, "this seems to be working OK, maybe I only need to take half dosages" and the other half was thinking "I feel like a big pile of pooh, why am I so stiff, sore, tired and congested." Oh lordy... At some point over the weekend the two brains synced up, so now on to my woohoos...

For three days in a row I've remembered to take my morning supplements and I'm already feeling less stiff, sore, and tired but have a ways to go on the congestion.

So far this week I've still been getting my breakfast at Starbuck's, but have switched over to oatmeal, instead of a pastry.

I had been having trouble booking FP+ for one the the days of my trip and was finally able to get thru on chat to ask why. Part of the info the CM gave me was out and out wrong (you can only book max 7 days FP+ before hand, regardless of the number of days on your park pass... umm... no, not true). But when I went back to see what Susan had booked, I found that she had included me in the day I fly home and the day after so I deleted those FP+ and was able to do the day I needed to. I think that's it for trip planning for now, although I may add an ADR or two, closer to the trip.

Happy day-in-the-middle everyone... make it a good one!

My Woohoo is that I found an awesome new dance studio for adults that has a big emphasis on fun fitness. I went to their tap class last night and it was so much fun! We learned a tap routine to Low by Flo Rida which was a huge step away from my last tap class (where we danced to very slow circus music...). They offer lots of other types of classes so I think I'm going to get a pass so I can add fun dance workouts to my exercise line up.

I had a horrible day but talking about it will make it worse so I will just look ahead.

WhooHoo of the day - I reduced the intensity of my workouts and I didn't get extreme DOMs after my leg day
I ate healthy today and tracked all my calories
I am managing well work and my son and his homework and after school activities and all schools we visited in the last few weeks.

I miss the gym. I won't be probably back until November when my husband finishes his project, I really miss the dance classes and the pool & yoga most.

My Wahoo: Hmm, I can't really think of anything super duper wahooey. I ordered a cheese pizza from Costco so I didn't have to cook tonight. That was a wahoo! Unfortunately it was as 700 calorie wahoo. I logged it and am eating red grapes right now. So sweet, yum.

Totally forgot I had yoga tonight. Was walking home from work, looked at my watch, and realized class starts in 5 minutes. Then a neighbor was in her yard on my way so she talked at me for 20 minutes. I now know everything happening in her life!

Our DS on the other side of the country said he had a bad day today. But he also said he had emailed his professors and gotten notes from friends and a friend was going to come to his room in a bit to help him out of his funk. At least he reached out to somebody! That's a good sign. If this is only a one day event then things should be fine. If it lasts longer we're all in trouble!

I'm logging my food and getting my steps. Sometimes logging isn't pretty, but I must say it makes me reach for carrots instead of chocolate at times!

My Woohoo list for today

Got my husband picked up from work early in the morning ( like 1:30 am early) and 9 year old stopped klevetching over the fact that 12 year old stayed home ( she has a phone plus both my parents, brother and sister in law, and sister and her "roommate" (now if they could just figure out the minimalist vs hoarder situation) are all within 300 yards and there is pretty much no way onto our property that does not involve going past 2 family places or through an woven wire fence with barbed wire and electric wire on top or around it. The problem is 9 year old does not approve being away from her sister one bit and lets us know her feelings on the topic.

Got the roadside assistance through my insurance called this morning when I got up around 10 (I didn't get home and to bed until 2:30) and they were able to dispatch a tow to meet me at the location of our other vehicle (DH blew a tire last night and naturally the flat was out as well) as he was running late to work ( hence why I had to pick him up) and was hoping to make it to the inlaws but it blew less than 350 feet from their house.

Got new tires put on the back and the older ones ( we had gotten 2 back in June) moved to the front with the non blown out front tire moved to be the spare (it's older but still has enough tread that it will work for the short in town and out to and from the house runs we use it for) Report from DH is the car handles much better now that it has 4 good tires on it. I got everything today for a little over $150 and love that this place will mount balance and install if you purchase less than a full set. Most places won't do the install portion unless you get a full set.

DH and 9 year old went and got the plates for the car so that 12 year old and I could attempt to go to the pool. Between our not getting our fries and having to go back when we finally realized it and were on the interstate and could not get off for about 5 miles ( a lot of our exits are a distance apart but we have some fairly close together like a mile) and went back to get them (I had 12 year old look up the number and call them so we just went to the drive through and they had nice hot ones for us) and then made our way back to the walmart in the smaller town ( the staff is nice there and they actually want to help and are not rude about it) and got our shopping done we had to book it for home so DH could go to work

Woohoo the kittens like the new food dispenser for the dry food and they like the dry food. Report from 12 year old they are not mauling her when she goes to feed them the moist food and they are not fighting over it. We also got them a water dispenser. We do need a 2nd food one as all 4 try to eat at the same time and it really doesn't work. All 4 kittens finally have all the mats in their fur from the face plants from the first attempts at eating moist food and not being too good at cleaning themselves so we no longer have ones that look like poor abandoned orphaned strays.

Got a bit of fur from brushing the fuzzy netherland dwarf out today and attempted to spin it since they are considered a wool breed of rabbit. Let's just say I need a better set up than my fingers and a highlighter tucking the spun part behind the clip.
