Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

We just switched from YC to BC because of the dogs. My wife and I will be travelling with DS7 and DS-10mos. My question is about noise from Illuminations - how loud is it? Is it likely ot wake our boys?

Are the light sleepers or heavy sleepers? It also depends on where your room is. We are in the BCV and it wakes me

So I spent more than I should have and just got a custom gift basket from Disney Floral & Gifts to surprise my fam with. How do these things work Delivery wise? I ordered it to the resort, will they deliver to the room?[
I received one on my last visit. If you are not in they leave you a voice mail saying you have a package. Once you call and let them know you are in they will deliver or you can go pick it up. They will tell you the specifics.

Nannette Janet ninja and I (and roger) are having an amazing time! Weather so far is perfect!!! Moving from saratoga to poly today

Had dinner with Teena sue and her husband but photo too big to post from my phone

Also have had various meet ups

Today my gang had 4 parks planned

Visited Beach club on Wednesday. We did see one dog who appeared to be part of a wedding party because the leash matched the bridesmaid dresses

I am finally getting to take my 5 year old niece and extended family with me! My heart was set on Bay Lake because of the ease of walking to the MK. However, the two bedroom standard view that I have enough points for is already booked. Now I'm looking into the Beach Club. I've dined at the Yacht Club, and I'm not really certain where that ends and where the Beach Club begins. The pool that is outside of Beaches & Cream is available to those staying at the BC, right?
When I check online, it's showing the Beach Club Marketplace as being a snack credit, but it has meal items. Can we use quick service credits there?
Tell me all of your best hints/tips to make the BC a magical stay for
- a 5 year old who will need either naps or someone taking her to the resort early for bedtime
- a grandpa who has been to WDW and doesn't love it (he's a thrill seeker and Disney rides are too tame)
- a BiL who has never really done family vacations, but he's coming along because he wants to experience his daughter's first trip

I ordered one for my trip this past May as a surprise for my mom, and when we got into the room on our first day, it was there waiting for us! Perfect surprise!

Oh, I think we had to be in the room to receive it because there was wine in ours.

I will take a crack at some of your questions:

The two resorts are connected on the exterior by a walkway and you are free to use the amenities at either. Stormalong Bay is the large pool that connects both resorts and yes, it is available to both. Both resorts also have "quiet" or "leisure" pools. BC has a separate DVC portion (since you indicated you wanted Bay Lake) which are bookable through Disney or renting points from an owner. This resort offers studios, one bedroom and the ability to create two bedroom villas.

Marketplace is the quick service location and yes, it accepts quick service and snack credits. There is also a quick service location (Ale & Compass Market) at the YC. Cape May (buffet) is a full service restaurant in BC. Yachtsman Steakhouse is a full service restaurant at the YC. Captain's Grille is also going to be located within YC once completed (currently under renovation) and is also a full service. Crew's Cup (Yacht Club side) is a lounge which offers snacks, drinks and limited meals. Beaches & Cream (Beach Club location) is an old fashioned ice cream parlor offering sandwiches and ice cream--also full service. Finally, Hurricane Hanna's is a quick service location along with poolside bar.

In addition to all of the dining options at BC/YC, you have the entire Boardwalk which offers dining options as well as being at the back gate (International Gateway) to EPCOT.

BC/YC and the Boardwalk area has something for everyone and I'm sure the 5 y/o will enjoy the sandy area of Stormalong Bay and meeting the many characters within each park or some of the dining locations.

While Disney isn't the thrill ride capital, it does offer a good many rides that are fun for those who enjoy thrils, i.e., Rock 'N Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror (DHS), Test Track (EPCOT), Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mt., Splash Mt (MK), Flight of Passage, Expedition Everest (AK) so Grandpa could hang out for those in each park and then move on to the resort if he is not into the beauty that is Disney.

BIL will enjoy watching the joy on his daughter's face and may find he would like to be the one taking her back for downtime at the resort.

Hope that helps. Start on page one of this thread and do your research--there is loads of information contained here.

Everyone just had to evacuate pool area. We are all standing out by beach. Even Beaches & cream staff are out here with us. I think they are having trouble with the fire alarm system. We have had 2 fire alarm tests this week
This may have been in response to the BC synchronized swim team being in town. :dance3: I know they weren't staying at the resort, but better safe than sorry! :flower1:

On our last visit a few weeks ago, we had breakfast at Yachtsman and I had the steel cut oatmeal brûlée.

Steel-cut Oatmeal Brûlée
Brandied Bananas, Dried Cranberries, and Sweet Cream

Just saw that the Yachtsman will not be serving breakfast after November.
It was so darn delicious.
Does anyone know where else it is served for breakfast???
We are going in April and staying at the Poly this trip but I was planning on having breakfast at the Yacht Club
just for the steel cut oatmeal brûlée.
Thanks!

Yes!!! When I ordered a Star Wars balloon and Storm Trooper bobblehead arrangement for my kiddo, it was in the room when we got back from the park.

I have to hand it to F&G: I'd ordered it because we were there ON Star Wars Day (May the 4th), and the card was supposed to say it was from Darth Vader. HOWEVER, they were still letting parents fight along with their kids for Star Wars Day, and as a result, Darth Maul was brought in to handle the overflow (I've never seen a more spot-on face character in the whole of Disney property; he looked AMAZING). So, knowing DS could wind up fighting Maul instead of Vader, F&G changed the card to say it was from "Your Dark Master." Well played, I thought. :thumbsup2

Wondering about early morning buses to MK/AK from BC with a scooter. We have 8am MK, 9am AK and a 7am EMH MK (but idk on us making that as CL opens at 6:30am and we NEED our morning coffee! Maybe get coffee at in park Starbucks that morning?...). I'm worried about buses filling up at YC and leaving us standing at BC for an hour or more. I would Uber/Minnie Van (I hate buses) but we have a scooter so that's out. Should we consider walking to YC to get buses in the morning- and how long is the walk to YC bus stop? Also, we have a scooter in our party. Can the buses take more than one scooter or do you wait for the next one?

Oh my gosh, that sounds amazing! I hope someone can help you out!

My internet access is acting up, so I am having problems with pics and links...so, I appologize for the weirdo question.
Do they sell cream cheese bars or little packets at BC?

We usually stay at the YC, but on the one occasion that we stayed at BC, we walked over to YC to catch the bus. It is a relatively short walk and almost always uncrowded.

The buses can carry 2 scooters at a time.

We have a scooter in our party also. A walk over to the YC is maybe a leisurely 10 min or so. I've seen 2 scooters on the bus.
Once in the morning, though, there were too many people on the bus coming fromYC to fit the scooter, and we had to wait for the next. That was the one & only time we had a problem.
And Disney has 4 accessible Minnie vans. How many are in your party? We have 6 (including person on scooter). What we were told to do was request the Minnie van, then down the bottom of the screen is an option to contact the driver. Once you have gotten your van request accepted, call the driver & tell him/her you need an accessible van. In our case we also had to tell him that there were 6 in our party, so they would send the accessible van plus a regular van to accommodate all of us. All for just the $20 flat rate. They did not charge per vehicle.
It is a fantastic service & we used it probably about 5 times during our stay.

Oh wow!! I had no idea they had scooter accessible Minnie Vans! We're a party of 4 (including ECV person), that sounds like a nice way to do these early mornings!
