What the hell is going on with Tower of Terror...

thankful I have a TOT fast pass for next Thursday I guess. That is one of the main rides we did this trip for as my son that is the daredevil really wants to ride it. I would be livid if they would not let us even get in line for it.

Wow, ToT is one of my favorite rides but I rarely ride it without a FP. Went on Sunday 10/15 for EE, wait time was 10 min at 8:30 AM, rode it then and with a FP a little later. Also went Thursday 10/19 in the evening, posted wait time was 40-45 min, I had gotten a FP that day after I used the first of my 2 Epcot FP, so rode with a FP. they had 4 elevators running both those times.
Glad you didn't have ans problems, but I think shortly after it got nuts. 10/22 or 10/20 I just thought ***.
You also was able to get a sameday-FP dir it on 10/19, aren't you? So I start spotting the sameday FP-situation on 10/23 and was surprised, that there even at 9.00am none was available as well as no FPs the following days as well. Perhaps they even stopped FP-distribution because of the problems

When we went on Sept 18th, only one side was working, and the line for FP was quite long, about 35-40 minutes. However, now that I think about it, the previous trip we had in Feb, 2015, on our HS day it was also only operating half the elevators!

I have nothing to add about the wait times at ToT, but now that I have been on GOTG at California Adventure, I am crossing my fingers and toes that they change ToT in Hollywood Studios to GOTG. It was AMAZING both during the day and the Halloween change at night!

Are there 6 elevators as mentioned in the OP?
At WDW there are 6 elevator shafts (as distinct from the actual ride vehicle). Each major drop shaft (there are two) is fed by two pre-drop shafts. The pre-drop shaft is where you see the disappearing guests and the floating window. From there your ride vehicle moves forward to the actual drop shaft.

I'm here now. Wait says 105 minutes, but they are announcing could be longer. Only half of the elevators are working. And heard a cm say it's been this way about a week.

There's a holiday overlay of TOT coming in a week or so. Could this backup be related?

Noooo, why do we need to make everything identical? And it wouldn't even fit in (which is a huge issue with it in California)

We were at the studios on 23rd. We went to get in line but the fp line was almost an hour. They weren't even accepting standby. For the majority of our 10 days, the wait was absolutely ridiculous.

It was a mess at DS on 10/21. RnR was down at RD, so they gave all the RnR FP+ people "any ride, all day" passes. It finally opened almost 2 hours after RD, then ToT went down to half capacity, so everyone with ToT FP+ was also given "any ride, all day" passes. People were stacked up everywhere in that end of the park. We bailed and went to lunch. Then we decided not to go back to DS until at least the Pixar construction is finished!

I wonder if it has to do with the Sunset Greetings overlay they're doing on the outside of the building?

So is anyone else reading this thread and thinking "there is no way I am riding that ride if 1/2 of it is not working properly?" Sure hope they get it fixed!

We were there 10/27, our 920 FP was cancelled before we even left for the park. Got an anytime fast pass. Only half the ride was operating and would not come back up that day per the cast members. We waited 30 minutes in FP line. Standby over 3 hours. Needless to say we only rode that one time.

I rode it tonight. FP line went much faster than last week.

We have fp for 6 for Monday next week. If TOT is closed and we get an anytime fp, does that mean that 3 of our party could do FEA in Epcot and 3 could do TOT (we have parkhoppers and a free afternoon on Friday)? How long are those fp good for?
